However, during my last visit, I received color/ highlights that left my hair frail, brittle & damaged. Not only was I disappointed in the damage that resulted from being over processed but I was charged much more than I was accustomed to paying and the amount I was quoted. I was prepared to pay $205, however I was charged $382! Talk about being shocked. And she stated she had given me a 25% discount. I was in such shock I wish I'd disputed the charges. Unfortunately, I'll have to find a new colorist because my hair and bank account cannot afford Salon BKB.

Belinda Baker sat me down and did a questionnaire with me about what I liked and didn't like about my hair. This was the first real consultation I ever had, and in that meeting I learned so much about MY hair...like what other salon talks to clients about hair porosity?!? Not only is Belinda educated, but all of the stylists are very well informed in all things hair and make it a priority to teach clients as well. The shop is so cute, no one is a stranger EVER. While you're steaming under the hydrator, feel free to indulge in some (adult) beverages and chat with the other clients in the salon. I'm so in love with Salon BKB that I refer ALL of my friends and family here and they all love it too! Every time I get out of the chair, all of the stylists know that it's time for me to have a photo-shoot! As long as I live in Atlanta, Salon BKB will be my salon of choice. While I've been to many, I am still YET TO FIND a place that does it as beautifully and as seamlessly as ANY of the Sweetroots stylists. During my visit I witnessed her care for natural textured African American and Asian hair and permed African American hair. Her hair cutting technique is detailed and precisioned. Online booking is easy. You can pay before your appointment and she offers a membership package for common maintenance services. As far as logistics, there is a Park by App lot across the street from the building. There are steps and an elevator to access the salon suites on the second floor. The steps have a gate with a keypad and it is unlocked during the day. The entrance to the elevators is on the side of the building near the entrance of the driveway.

Sylvia listened carefully, asked a few questions about how I usually style my hair, and then got to work. The vibe was awesome--lots of conversation which I appreciated. The wash was super relaxing. Sylvia was great about checking in during the cut and explaining what she was doing without over-talking. The final look was exactly what I wanted--my hair had more shape and movement but still felt full and healthy. She finished it off with a smooth blowout that had a bit of soft curl at the ends, which held up nicely for a couple of days.
