I bought my first locally made dress from them last month and I adore it!!! I saw a post on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/artsandlettersspringfield) about some of their newest stock and loved the look of a dress by Alicia Mae. So I rushed to the store, because it needed to be mine! I tried it on and to my dismay it did not fit the way I wanted :( I was quite disgruntled until Laura and Meg told me they could get in direct contact with the designer! I'm so use to the "if the store doesn't have it, you are out of luck" mentality, that this was a completely new and exciting concept! FANTASTIC! So the wonderful ladies of Arts & Letters got me in contact with Alicia Mae and the very next day I was getting measured for my very own custom dress! HOW COOL! The dress was very affordable, very well crafted, I got to pick out the fabric, fit my body like a glove, and all three ladies were so easy to work with. Go support local art and all the hard work of these lovely ladies!

I walked in with my list of books, and must have had a confused look on my face, as a gentleman came over and asked if I needed any help. I said yes, and he immediately took my list and led me around. I was expecting one of my books to be only available as a new book and was pleasantly surprised to see that they carried it used. It saved me roughly half of what I was expecting to pay. He even took the time to find me a copy of the book that was not so "used" looking. The other book I needed was found just as quickly. When we had found all the materials needed, the gentleman wished me a good day. Looking over all the "spirit items" in the store, I was impressed with how much stuff you could buy to show your pride. I admit, I had to get a t-shirt. With me living in Kansas City, I'm always proud to wear things from my hometown. Check-out was a breeze. I'm expecting financial aid for this year, and with this being the first time I've ever had to use it, I was elated to find out that I could defer the payment for my books until my aid was put into my account. Start to finish, the process took less than 10 minutes, and I was in and out. Everyone I encountered was so pleasant to deal with, and I left in a better mood that when I went in.

Additionally, there are no restrooms - so while you're lost trying to find books, following incorrect labeling, and navigating the otherwise chaotic disorderliness, you can rest assured that they will be unaccommodating. I recently took my family here, and as we were compiling a stack of books worth a couple of hundred dollars (we're working to stock our home library built-in shelves), our toddler son needed to use the restroom. We asked if he could use theirs, and they said no. Rather than spending my money with them, I left my stack of books where they were and took my son to the restroom at Barnes & Noble, where I continued my book shopping. As for the bulk of used books I need, I can obtain them via Amazon and AbeBooks, and don't have to support a rude local business that is unhelpful and falls short of providing a quality experience. Why shop local when you can shop at the giants who care about their customers? I will never return.

I came to this business before and the service was just OK. This time my experience was just…read morehorrible. I came for repairs like last time and right off the gal that took my information was half asleep and uninterested. I guess she took my concerns down so I figured I'd continue and see how it goes, a mistake that was. The following week the tech, who "worked" on my laptops, contacted me by phone and he proceed to lecture me about my laptops being too old and he strongly recommended I not connect to the internet with them. He kept on about it through out the call, even though it was not was i was wanting or asking help on, I needed physical repairs on two of them. He spoke like he was an expert but said he couldn't fix them. It seemed like he was pushing me to purchase new laptops they sell as mine were too far gone. He charged me $50 a piece and all i got was a fixed pin in the charging port of one. I was a bit upset about this conversation but figured i could read his notes on my invoice for better understanding as I was at work when he called. I asked him to put what he did on the invoice and I would come and get the laptops soon. When I arrived I paid the $150 for the "repairs" and took the receipt. On my way home i reviewed the invoice and got even more upset. The tech pretty much gave me another similar lecture about the computers being too old, "20 years old" which was a complete lie. He did not document what he did and didn't even put the right customer's account information on the invoice like my name and address. It was under someone else. I was so upset that they didn't do much of anything I called them when I got home. I called their store and briefly spoke with the tech as he picked up the phone, I demanded to speak with the owner and the tech supposedly forwarded my message to the owner (Chad) as Chad wasn't available at the moment. Over the next week I attempted to contact Chad but could only leave messages with the tech. Chad would take his time and call me back when I was not available. We played a little phone tag but I discontinued my efforts to get satisfaction when Chad continued to call me at times when I was at work and I requested for him to call me afterwards. He didn't and he made no additional efforts to address my concerns. This was a bad experience. Watch these guys if you have repairs that are needed as they'll take your money and its a real possibility they'll rip you off, as that is completely how i feel. I will not go back as I had my laptops repaired elsewhere in town. BEWARE!
