When I went back and was devastated on how they went for basically nothing, I asked about the reserve that protected them and allowed them to be sold next time. I'll never forget that bewildered look on that man's face. He said, "Reserve?" I have heard they have good music. Just don't go there if you want to sell nice items. I think it's a used furniture store racket. STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE NICE THINGS, OR YOU MIGHT BE DEVISTATED LIKE ME!

I was told if I came to my own sale, she would shut down the sale and tell people to leave. I was told I should not be at my own home while they were there staging items for the sale. AB Estate Sales brought into my home items they planned to sell (i.e. floor lamps, area rug, small kitchen appliances, bedding, wall and table decor, TV, furniture, etc.) yet was not paid a commission for them using my home as a place to sell their items. They pounded nails in my drywall walls to hang wall decor without asking even though they knew we would be selling our home immediately after the sell. On the first morning of the sale most of my items still did not have price tags so I have no idea how they priced things, and of course there is no itemized list to accompany the money received from the sale, unless you want to pay for it.

I spoke to Hal White (the owner of Crossroads Auction Co.) the 1st week of September about getting stuff to him to place in auction because I didn't think I'd have time to sell it myself. He said the soonest he could get in in would be the 3rd week of Sept. because the 2nd week was their big antique auction. He said "contact me next Monday (Sept 10)". I went to his store and spoke to him in person that next Monday, as he instructed. He said he would come by Monday, Sept. 17 to see what we have, which he did. He offered us $125 to just buy outright our items. (Retail value of these items was over $700 - nothing damaged, and everything in original packaging and boxes). He said he would come by Tuesday morning, Sept. 18 to pick up our items and give us a check. Tuesday night (8:00pm) I called him and he said "I got busy and can't make it. I'll be there Wednesday morning". Wednesday night (8:00pm) I called him and he said "I've just been really busy, I'll be there Thursday morning". It's now 1:45pm on Thursday (Sept. 20) and still no word from Hal. I've had friends and neighbors asking me to buy my items but could not sell because I had a [verbal] deal with Hal at Crossroads Auction. (He won't make a definitive appointment/contract or write anything down.) So I just called Hal again to let him know I would not be needing his services. As soon as I said my name he immediately started in with "I've just been too busy and haven't had a chance to get over there yet". I explained that I was calling because I'd had offers on the items that he was supposed to pick up and told him "I've decided to cancel the pick-up and sell the items myself". His response was: "Well, a man is only as good as his word" - click (he hung up on me). I immediately called back to try to further explain my reasons for cancelling, and of course my call went immediately to his voice mail. I left a message stating: "Hal, I called you out of respect to let you know that I would be selling the stuff myself because I could have sold half of it already, and so that it would be one less thing for you to worry about because you are so busy. And as far as your statement "A man is only as good as his word...", you told me you were going to pick up our items 72 hours ago and couldn't even give me the courtesy of a phone call to say that you couldn't make it". Don't deal with this place. Hal is extremely unprofessional, unreliable, won't pay you the value of your items, and (as I found out today) is extremely rude. -- Update -- He offered us $125 for everything. After 1 week of advertising most (not all) of the items on Craigslist we brought in over $500.

crossroads auction is THE place to be on friday nights in nixa! you can look at all the items…read moreahead of time, then get ready for the fun of bidding, with excellent prices. lots of vintage big and small items, and sometimes new furniture. there is a concession truck, but you can bring your own latte'. the building is over a hundred years old and used to be nixa hardware. there is a bathroom, chairs, and lots of great people, some are experts and will tell you all about the pieces if you ask them. this is a place many of the resellers go to buy items for the flea market booths in the area. do not sit in the chairs with numbers on - those are reserved for the regulars. you get a number on a paddle and hold it up when you want to bid, it's easy and EXCITING when you get to go home with a piece just like grandma had. they have special auctions on some saturdays that feature all antiques, i have even been there when they had native american items. some mondays they have box lot auctions... be prepared to haul away your treasures... it's always very interesting to learn and build your knowledge of our past at crossroads auctions. hal and his wife are the sweetest and would help anybody out. they even allow dogs!

I'm assuming she's talking about people who have to do some sort of community service. She explained that they don't like them out front so they keep them in the back and proceeded to talk about what she assumed their characters were like. It wasn't very complimentary. It wasn't professional. It was not what I expect from a place called Goodwill. My wife mentioned that perhaps someday sissy will find herself stuffed in the back and kept out of view of the public. I hope that doesn't happen but I think it would be important for Sissy to think about the image she projects. She is representing the store and the community. So far she's not doing a great job.

While their auction listing clearly states in the SHIPPING section " If you use our in house shipping our shipping software will email you a a shipping quote for the items you bid on and won that need to be shipped.", I got an invoice rather than a quote. If this was not irritating enough, they tried to charge $21.65 to send the small light beaded bracelet to Ohio. If they are charging extra for their time and packaging they should disclose this in their listings so people can make an informed decision prion to bidding. I see that they have lots of bad reviews.
