VegFest 2013 people. A nice lady, a guy named Darnell, and this lady's name tag said "Barbara Shaneequa."

I was so disappointed in Texas Vegfest 2013. If you have the opportunity to promote the inevitability of plant-based dieting among the vast savvy & educated populace of Austin, don't blow it with a self-congratulatory one-day happy fest of thin white people sampling faux-scallop concoctions. Here's a secret: Real vegans eat real food. Oh look, they had one Nissan Leaf on display. Tell you what - make a presentation to Nissan, convince them to be an underwriter for this, bring 100 Nissan Leafs here, and promote the gas out of it. Why wouldn't that be a win-win for everyone? Of course Arlo's is great, and every veghead in town already knows that. Maybe that's why his trailer line was 10-deep throughout the day. Here's an idea: Put up a whole row of Arlo's, along with displays from every one of those environmentally-conscious farmers I see at the mall on Saturday mornings. That's the real world of Austin's vegetarians and vegans these days. I get that this is only the second Texas VegFest, it's a work in progress, and it's going to get better. I also know I can be an impatient Bag o' Dicks when dealing with the obvious. I'm just not convinced I'm the only one who felt this way about this year's event. All I'm saying is step away from the tofu hugging tree for one brief moment, consider what could be done to make Texas VegFest the best thing ever, and then make it happen. I think Austin would literally eat it up. Along with faux-scallops.

First time attending the Texas Vegfest in Austin. I live in Houston & usually attend the Houston Vegfest. This year however, Houston Vegfest was cancelled so basically a no brainer. My weakness was all the food available. Lots of new food to try since I usually don't visit Austin too often. Pastries everywhere, Mango chili lime donut was incredible from Red Rabbit Cooperative bakery. To bad they were only a few donuts left when I got there, if not trust me I would have bought some more. There were lots of vendors & food trucks. Arlo's was packed all day long. I liteally waited in line for 45 mins for a Bac N Cheeze burger which after I ate was contempt with. Delicious! Fiesta Gardens is a nice place to hold this event as well. Next to the river so the scenery was pleasent. I will be attending this event for years to come, definetely worth the drive. Next year I will remember to bring a lawn chair so I can sit close to the Colorado River & enjoy the delicous food oftered at Texas Vegfest.

Keeps your car cooler in the Texas heat and there are shopping cart friendly escalators to get your groceries easily back to the car. The produce selection at this Whole Foods is insane! Any type of produce that you could want or need can be found in either traditional or organic format. They also have an extensive seafood counter with very knowledgeable staff to help you make a selection. With a dedicated area for fresh sushi, a barbecue selection, freshly made sandwiches, prepared foods, a hot bar, and a salad bar all of your grocery needs can be met here. At the front of the store, there's also a fantastic coffee bar so you can remain caffeinated while you shop. They're seating area if you pick up a little something and want to have a bite to eat before or after you get your groceries. There's additional seating upstairs as well as an outdoor area. If you are an Amazon prime member, be sure to shop the sales to save a little bit of money. Weekly specials are designated with a yellow tag, and it shows the sale price as well as the further reduced price for Amazon prime members. And if you are a tourist visiting Austin, one of the more Instagram-able photo stops is at the corner in front of Whole Foods...the ATX sign.

I need Diet Coke and food that is bad for me too. We come here probably once or twice a week. The Amazon return center is super convenient. There's a self serve kiosk too. Major plus. Our second stop is juice land and then the hot bar & salad bar. I like being able to make a "girl dinner" lunch with a couple of bites worth of several things. We typically go to the roof to eat and to let the kids run around the playscape. If anyyyyy corporate Whole Foods people are reading this- can we please update the play area? Maybe add to it? Or make it toddler friendly? I know I'm being picky we just come so much and it would be a dream update.

People's Pharmacy, you are harming patients. It is unethical to sell homeopathy. Do not reply to my review with anything other than "We're removing homeopathy from our shelves," because I will not change my mind on this. Because of this, and the fact that they're slow AF, I get my cat's meds compounded at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Kentucky unless it's an absolute emergency. Kentucky has the cheap drugs for some reason.

I was greeted and seen promptly for the appointment, and I received a body scan using one of their machines which gives a print out of personal stats including body fat and muscle content, water content, etc. It was really fun to learn a little more about myself and my physical distribution. I also received a recommendation for a supplement to help with mild appetite suppression and fat burn which I am indeed curious to try. On a side note - I didn't look through all the pharmacy items because I was short on time but BOY did they have a selection in there! You have to be careful about just starting new meds because they can interact with prescription medications, but if you got a supplement cleared with your doctor, I'm fairly sure this place would have it. They also have ample parking out front, and are easy to find right off north Lamar.

PERFECT?! Intriguing! The linguistics alone sold me. 20% of your daily recommended protein. Ingredients that I UNDERSTAND. That I would actually cook with. Very little sugar, gluten free... basically a protein bar that is way more delicious and lacks any weird shit I've never heard of. When I visited Whole Foods the other day, they were giving free samples of a protein bar. I countered with, "But have you tried The Perfect Cookie?" And began an uncharacteristically promotional rant. I think I convinced her. Yes, these facts are interesting but OH MY GOD. The flavor! I adore Grandma's Cookies (the brand) and this tastes EXACTLY like Grandma's.. but I don't feel horrible when I eat five. So dense and soft and decadent. I've tried all three flavors (macadamia nut and white chocolate, chocolate chip, and peanut butter) WAY too many times in the month since I've discovered this bliss and they are all fantastic. Why you gotta make cookies seem so harmless and good for me? THIS JUST ISN'T RIGHT. The HEB 20% off coupon isn't helping either.

I usually cannot stand the chalky meh taste of "healthy" bars or they have more calories than I want. While I am not a fan of how their Dark Chocolate Peanut bar tastes, the Vanilla Almond is heavenly and the Dark Chocolate Mint tastes just like a Girl Scout thin mint cookie. All the bars are 190 calories, have 14 grams of protein, gluten free, have antioxidants from green tea and are loaded with omega 3s. Some of the ingredients include grass-fed whey protein, organic brown rice, organic raisins, non-GMO sunflower lecithin but warning to the vegetarians it does contain fish oils. They do not have a storefront but you can purchase a box online. They are also carried at some HEBs, Central Market, Fresh Plus, and I have seen them at some of the Snap Kitchens and MyFit Foods locations.
