I just finished 'open water' and 'enriched air' certifications with Brady and the staff at Texas Scuba Academy, and I am telling you without a doubt you cannot receive better training and instruction than this. Brady is dedicated to what he loves, - and that is diving and his students. You will get hands-on, small group attention from these guys across the board. They will NOT send you into the world without the skills and confidence you need to succeed and be a safe and conservative diver. I wanted to get my PADI open water in the Austin area, and I did a lot of research beforehand. If you look on google, yelp, reddit, etc you'll probably be shown one of the bigger dive shops in Austin first, but if you're reading this review you've found a gem and let me say that there is no better place than Texas Scuba Academy. Since PADI courses follow a worldwide standard, the structure of the courses are the same regardless of where you go. The dives are in the same few places, and the pool sessions are going to be the same too. Where Texas Scuba excels is in the things that are unique from shop to shop. The student to instructor ratio is incredible, the price is the best in town, and most importantly no one else has Brady. Brady strikes the perfect balance between being loose & having fun, while also being safe & teaching how to handle potential risks when diving. He's on top of everything, always quick to answer any questions in person, through email, or over the phone. Texas Scuba also doesn't require you to adhere to a strict structure like you might find at other shops, there are opportunities both in the pool and open water nearly every weekend and during the week. I wasn't going to be able to clear two consecutive weekends to complete the course, and I was able to complete my course when I had availability. Don't be thrown off by the location either, they are based in Hutto but every session I attended was within a 30 - 40 minute drive of south Austin.
