We decided to discontinue private swimming lessons for our son due to lack of structure and progress. Over time, he was assigned to multiple different instructors, which made consistency difficult. For private lessons, we expected a more thoughtful instructor match--especially given our son's high energy level. A stricter, more experienced teacher would have been far more appropriate, but that never happened. There were no clear goals, milestones, or timeline communicated for when progress should be expected or when he might advance to the next level. It felt less like skill-building and more like unstructured "play time." If the intention is simply fun and entertainment, that's something we could achieve by visiting a resort or renting a private pool elsewhere. This program may work for families with an unlimited budget who aren't concerned about measurable progress, but for us, the lack of accountability and clear expectations made it hard to justify continuing. read more

My 6 year old has been attending classes at Emler off and on since she was two years old. She loves swimming and has progressed nicely at Emler. Overall, I am satisfied with our experience here, but there are pros and cons to keep in mind. Pros: - Some teachers are excellent. - With kids that have water fears or are struggling, there is a secondary teacher that steps in to help. - Teachers are typically patient and compassionate. - Strong curriculum. - Generous makeup policy for missed classes. - Clean pool Cons: - Very expensive - 4 students to 1 teacher ratio for only 30 minute class time. - I have to follow up constantly with staff on evaluations and determining whether she's ready to move up a level. I wish they'd be more proactive about this. - Crowded waiting + changing rooms. - Difficult to get in touch with (no one answers the phone here). read more

We really love Emler and all the staff. Everyone has been so helpful and friendly. My guy started going in December and I can see so much growth! The staff he has worked with has boosted his confidence and are so encouraging and offer tips to practice at home. It is also very easy to move between classes if you have schedule issues and we love we can purchase make up tokens for missed classes or just extra swim time. read more

It's was too crowded. Like a circus on a Saturday morning. Not enough places to change. Kids are getting dressed in the lobby. Can't even hear your self think in the pool area. We enrolled after moving to the area and my kids have actually regressed going here compared to private lessons. Even with it maxed at 4 kids it not enough. The pool is way to small to get any real swimming in. Not sure about high turn over but my kids teacher also changed multiple times. Seems to work for lots of families and glad it does for them. read more

Our daughter started in the infant swimming sessions (water babies) and almost 2 years later she is thriving. We really love this place. Our most recent coaches, Coach Bee and Coach Shawn have been amazing. They have been patient, consistent and most importantly, fun! We have been going to Emler since our daughter was 7 months old and we couldn't be happier. The difference between Emler and other swim schools is their investment in your child. They are always looking out for our daughter and have helped her grow her swim skills beyond expectations as well as nutured her social/emotional skills. We were lucky enough to have one instructor for over a year who did a tremendous job with her but when he moved to a different location we learned our girl had some serious stranger danger. The new instructors were just as competent as our last and were so patient with our nervous girl. The managers Chelsea and Colbi made sure to regularly check in and make sure our girl felt comfortable and was thriving with her new instructors. Emler swim schools instructors and managers are excellent and are what keep us coming back for as long as we have. I also have to say as a parent that swim lessons can sometimes seem costly but I will tell you that it is an investment in your child's safety. Our 2.5 year old daughter saved herself in the pool this summer because of Emler teaching her the skills she needed to swim and get back to the wall. That right their was worth every penny. This place is amazing. It is all about the staff. Been bringing my son here for almost 2 years and he is almost 4. Indoor year round is the way to go. The kid may be part fish now. The facility is nice. Always clean. Great changing rooms and multiple bathrooms. Cubby's galore and kid friendly. Multiple benches if you want to sit in the pool area or a good fishbowl view with multiple chairs on the outside. The place is well structured and organized. My child was previously enrolled at Aqua Tots and YMCA and both facilities didn't have the proper structure or instructors that was needed to teach my child. We did a lot of research for swim lessons as there are a lot of options nearby. We went with Emler because they're perfect for what we need: first-time swim lessons for our four-year-old. They're brand new in Cedar Park but their established Anderson Mill locations has stellar reviews from people with our same use case. We visit d and learned that this location is managed by the same group, plus it's brand new, so the choice was easy. They're super flexible, gave us good options for either weekly or daily lessons, and explained everything well. Every day we're told the goal for that day and how she's progressing which is helpful. They've really thought of everything here, including plenty of large bathrooms and changing areas so you don't feel crammed or rushed. Her teacher is super enthusiastic and she has the same teacher for every class. Most of all, though, she's having the most fun EVER. You can tell the people here love what they do and it's reflected in how much fun the kids are having and how quickly they progress. read more

My son has been taking lessons with Mia. We went to the Emler on anderson mill and we did not have a great transition into swimming. Mia has been the complete opposite! She has made him comfortable in the water and able to go under water. He adores her and loves her class sooo much. She is the best! read more

As a pregnant mother with a 2 year old, we are very concerned in this pandemic. After we chatted with the manager about their rules and procedures for the Covid, we decided to take a shot swimming there. The facility is super clean. The teachers are constantly cleaning when there is no class. More importantly, the manager would do her best to work around your needs and make the whole experience very pleasant. We've been bringing our 3 year old to this location since this past summer and are so pleased with her progress. We initially signed up for the 2 week session of daily classes. She was extremely apprehensive the first couple of days, but the staff worked with her and put her at ease. By day 4, she was basically leaving me at the door when I took her to her swim lane. Her progress in those 2 weeks was more than we expected. She went from not even putting her face in the water to swimming about 5 feet underwater and holding her breath for 5 seconds. We're currently in the next level of classes and have seen substantial progress yet again. We love the staff here (especially Shawn, Colbi, and Chelsea). They're all so welcoming and friendly, and I can tell they really care about her progress. I highly recommend Emler Cedar Park! read more

I cannot recommend Emler Swim School of Cedar Park enough! My four year old son started in the preschool beginners class last spring and was very nervous about getting in the water and did not want to put his head under. His instructor at the time, Jordan, was so patient with him and did a fantastic job of helping him feel comfortable in the pool. She would talk him through everything they were going to do during the lesson and tried to get him to do everything he could, but did not push too hard. Lester (Site Director) was aware that my son struggled with his confidence in the water, and would pull him aside to work with him one-on-one to help him learn the new skills and find some strategies that worked well for him. Every time Lester worked with my son, he would come speak to me about what he observed and what they would try at the next lesson. After the first semester, my son was still working on his confidence in the pool as well as the skills from the preschool beginners class. As a parent, I was discouraged that he had not made more progress, but Lester assured me that this was normal for some children and that he would get where he needed to be. My son remained in preschool beginners at the recommendation of Jordan as well as Lester. I appreciated that they knew my son well enough to know that it would not be best to push him forward if he wasn't ready. His next instructor Amanda seemed to know my son even before he came to his first class. She and Lester had spoken about some strategies that had worked well for him. She challenged my son to try things he might have been a bit scared to do, but built a relationship with him so that he trusted her. After a few weeks of his second round of preschool beginners, something clicked! My kiddo would get so excited about swim lessons and was not clinging to the instructor like he had been at first. He had a make-up lesson today and his instructor was Ms. Jordan. She was so impressed by the progress my son has made! This is all due to the amazing people who work at Emler that have taken the time to know my son and what works best for him. From the moment I walk in the door, the staff is so friendly. Both my children love going to Emler Swim School of Cedar Park and I am grateful to them for working with my son and giving him the extra attention he needed. read more

Our experience at Emler in Cedar Park has been awesome! We recently did some swim camps for the summer and today did a private lesson to shore up some swimming skills that my daughter was lacking--she "swims" but technically not well and, as her mom, I want her to be a safe, strong swimmer. I feel like she's getting exactly that at Emler--specific, technical skills to help her be safe in the water. She also loves the teachers who have been super positive...she's pretty chatty but they kindly keep her on track and learning new skills. We love Cedar Park Emler! Our 17 month old son has been taking classes here since December 2019, we've loved each semester. Miss Lauren has been so great, always very positive, patient and knowledgeable. She gives great feedback and is always ready to find new ways to keep my busy boy engaged. Communication is also great, it's easy to reach the front desk via phone or online. They handled all of the Covid protocols with clear communication and professionalism from the beginning. The new Emler in Cedar Park is fantastic. The staff is great and everyone knows your name after a few weeks. We had my son's 5th birthday party here and it was a huge success. Everyone had fun. Having two small children with completely opposite personalities, I was apprehensive about how they would handle swim lessons. Emler has been absolutely fabulous for our family. My very cautious (fearful of the water) firstborn is now swimming like a fish, and my eager and fearless toddler has learned safety and boundaries in addition to learning how to swim. I cannot praise these people enough. We've had several instructors (Jake, Chelsea, Gabi, Monzerrat, Colby, Shawn, Lily, and David) over the last two years, and all of them have have been wonderful with our children. read more

We absolutely love this place! Everyone is so nice and their teaching strategies empower their students to be confident and safe in the water. When my son had his first evaluation, he was nervous and timid to even step one toe in the water; however, Amanda was kind, patient, and helped him throughout his evaluation by getting to know his interests and reassured him he was safe. By the end of the evaluation, he was sitting by the stairs to the shallow end of the pool and having a great time with Amanda. She was able to place him in the swim class that best fit his needs and shared with me what to expect in each lesson. My son has now been to several classes and enjoys every minute of it! His teacher Ms. Jordan is sensational! She does a phenomenal job using positive reinforcement and individualizing tasks for every student based on their current swim level. She uses fun and creative methods for teaching swim safety to the students and is always smiling. At the end of each lesson, she gives thorough explanations about what they worked on, areas that have been mastered or need improvement, and skills they will be working on during the next lesson. Inside the pool area, the temperature is warm so it's perfect even when the weather is chilly outside. And the facility itself is clean and organized.
