I waited to write my review because I didn't want to rave prematurely. We have been coming here for over a year now and I think It's time for my review. First of all, we tried our three different swim schools (you know...the ones you always hear about when you ask, "Where should I take my kid to learn how to swim?" I didn't like the huge classes and small pool, I didn't like having to PAY extra to make up missed on inconvenient days they dictate. No thank you. Ready Go Swim has been fantastic from day one. Hannah, the owner is extremely professional and accommodating to her clients. When you miss a class, you simply have one more class added to the end of your classes at your regularly scheduled time and day. No extra charge, no fuss. The instructors are top notch. We have had zero issues and our kids now go twice a week because they love it so much. I would recommend it to anyone! P.S. the pool is large and very warm. My kids love it.

My kids had been attending Emler for years. After attending lessons from 18 months of age to 4.5 years, my daughter began to stagnate in her classes there. There was not much improvement and it felt like we were overpaying for what were receiving. They didn't really push her. My 2.5 year old was improving, but painfully slowly. It had been time to look for a new school for a while, but we didn't actually look until Emlers make up class policy began to also cause us frustrations. On a recommendation of a friend, we went in for a free trial at Ready, Go, Swim! Wow. What a difference. Hannah is incredible. She gets more out of my kids in 1 lesson than Emler was getting in a month. We are so impressed with her style. All of her instructors have swimming backgrounds too. Swim team participants, etc. At Emler, they hired lots of kids with no swimming background whatsoever. I will say Emlers facilities are aesthetically beautiful, while RGS are not nearly as pretty, but completely functional. What it comes down to is the quality of the lesson though, so we switched and are now happy customers. Hannah doesn't follow a script, she tailors the lessons to the child. She has smaller classes, thus providing more individualized attention and they accomplish so much more in the same amount of time. We have a pool, so for us, we want our kids swimming asap, but did not want the harshness of an ISR type of program. Our little guy sometimes cries due to separation anxiety. With Hannah, he has cried far less than he was at Emler (and his teacher at Emler was one of our favorites for Emler). Bottom line: both of my kids are advancing so much more rapidly now at RGS. Their makeup policy is also much better for the customer: if you need to miss a lesson, they just extend your paid sessions by a week. At Emler they charge a $5 fee for an inconvenient make up class with a teacher that normally doesn't teach your child. RGS is so much better!

So happy to have chosen Emler for swim classes for our daughter! All of the staff (front desk,…read moremanager instructors) are super kind and helpful. I also really like that the manager is on the pool deck during classes and actively watching/engaging with the instructors. Our daughter recently started a parent-involved class and the instructor is super kind and customizes each activity depending on the kid's experience level. There's a ton of class times to choose from, a great growing space for parents & the faculty is clean (and best of all indoor). Highly recommend if you're looking for a swim school for your kiddo!

We check in at the desk and they direct us to which lane the girls will be swimming in. I recommend your kiddos have their own goggles. They do have flippers they can use if they're needed for class. They do tests to make sure that if the kids were on a lake in a boat or a kayak that flipped, they would be able to swim to safety. (They also do tests with them in actual clothing instead of swimsuits.) There are facilities for you to change and shower (rinse off) your kiddos after their lesson is over. There are several restrooms for you to change your kiddos before class, and you can sit on the outside of a glass wall to watch your kiddo or you can go inside the pool area and sit on benches right there. Lessons are 30 minutes long; they have a 'show off' right before class is over where they ask the parent/guardian to come see what they've learned and have a chat with the instructor.

My son and I spend several months out of the year at my parents lake house in Northern Michigan…read more Summer is very busy with dogs, kids, and adults running in and out of the house all day long. With the lake and boat dock just 100 yards out the front door, it can be very challenging with little ones who aren't quite swimmers yet, but want so badly to be out with the bigger kids playing. You just can't predict when they will try and sneak out and play while you aren't paying attention. For this reason, this will be our third year taking lessons with Vicki. I wanted our son to be able to SAVE HIMSELF if god forbid something happened, he got out, and fell off the dock, or whatever. I know firsthand that being a good swimmer has nothing to do with saving yourself, especially when you are panicking. In addition to all of the water rules my parents have had in place for the last 40 years, which everyone, kids and adults included, are required to follow, these lessons are just one more tool in our safety kit. My mother is always super impressed with his water skills at such a young age. Vicki is great, and makes sure the parent knows what is happening. However, it is uncomfortable for some kids, and can be uncomfortable to watch at times. The kids are getting their face and head wet, they are learning to flip over and float on their backs, learning to be calm and breathe while floating on their back. Lessons are work, it is not a bunch of splashing around and fun. They are learning a new skill, which can be frustrating and uncomfortable. From my experience, many of the kids really blossom and start to love lessons towards the end, and some, like my son, tolerate it but don't love it. Which is fine, it isn't about him loving it, it's about him instinctually knowing what to do if he falls in the lake while we aren't around. I'm hoping since he is three this year, he will enjoy lessons more, but even if he doesn't, oh well. For my family, these lessons are the equivalent of wearing helmets and pads while playing sports, or sitting in your car seat in the car. Safety comes first, then the fun. We can't recommend Vicki enough, she has squeezed us in for extra lessons when needed, and worked with us by testing him not only in his clothes when he falls in the water, but also helping us select and test life jackets, so we were able to select the one which allowed our son to utilize his self rescue skills. Since we are on a lake, making sure we had selected the most appropriate life jacket was critical. Sign your kids up, you won't be sorry!

Its a bit hidden right by a playground and dog park. This summer we had her taking lessons for the Preschool class early on in the summer and a couple of weeks ago completed the Advanced Preschool. Swimming lessons were through the Rec Center schedule. If you or any family members are thinking of doing swimming lessons, I highly recommend taking the courses as they take place here. The instructors were friendly with all ages and took such great time and patience especially with the preschoolers. There are two pools at the Lake Creek Pool. One large one...I'm not quite sure the depth but there is also a kiddie pool off to the side which has a cover over it from the sun..which was maybe a little over a foot in depth. Off to the side there are a handful of picnic type tables and several lounge chairs off to the side. There is a huge tent over the picnic tables but other than that, there is no shade. For just playing in the water and to swim, this place isn't too bad if you aren't looking for water slides or anything. Just a place to swim, hang out and cool off.

It's only $2 to get in which seems like a steal for any activity whatsoever these days, being that everything ever to do is hella expensive. This pool is nothing exciting. It's great for swimming and has a nice big deep end of diving without the board. It also has a nice shaded kiddie pool for my little one. For myself and my fiance, the price was excellent- ~80$ a month for both of us. Today I had limited time to workout, so I went to the gym intending to use the Egym. A full circuit takes about 24 minutes, and is a decent workout. I wanted to do 8-12 reps at 80% max for a quick workout, but the machine was locked to a specific program, and I could not change the workout from the app before I started the timed loop. I asked for help from the nearby YMCA personal trainer, and specifically asked if I could change my workout settings to the above mentioned settings. He seemed annoyed that I was asking questions at all, and asked if I had done the setup sessions. I told him yes, but my account was still not letting me change my workout session. I then asked again if I could set my own program to do ~10 reps @80%. He seemed annoyed, told me that the programs were not configurable, and left with the machine on the workout selection screen. I switched to a workout program that was closer to what I wanted and did my workout in that first machine. Since the EGYM is a loop, I looked to my right and saw someone just sitting down and logging in. Im not sure how this happened, as it is supposed to be a timed loop- but the new guy had a 2 minute timer on the screen. At this point I was frustrated by the lack of help and the fact that i was going to have to sit there for 2 more minutes after wasting some 10 minutes with the staff member. I got up, cursed under my breath and started walking towards the free machines as I could set them manually and get my workout done. The staff member who had previously been annoyed with me got in my face and threatened to have me ejected for cursing a single time when no children were present. After his previous attitude for me asking him sinple questions about the EGYM machines, this seemed quite out of place. Certainly I should not have cursed out loud- but this guy getting in my face was completely unprofessional as well. I have canceled my membership and will not be coming back. I can not recommend this location as a gym unless you never need a staff member to help you.

The Legendary Strength class with Coach Blue was by far the most challenging and upbeat class. Highly recommend his class for anyone looking for a tough and fabulous workout! Unfortunately, I took most of my classes with Charmaine. I was really disappointed with my experience in classes led by this instructor. She was constantly off, beat and off tempo, which made it difficult to follow along - especially in a group setting where timing is important. The music was also blasting so loudly over her mic that it was hard to hear any of her cues or instructions. On top of that, Charmaine rarely demonstrated the exercise clearly, so I often wasn't sure if I was doing the movements correctly. Overall, her classes felt confusing and frustrating, I didn't feel like I was getting a safe or productive workout. In my opinion, other instructors in the gym were much better, but my experience with Charmaine as an instructor was constantly disappointing.
