I keep waiting to write a review until I have adequate time, but with a baby that will probably never happen... so off the cuff and babbly it is. Go here. Stop doubting it. Every single person that works here goes out of their way to make each and every kid feel special, comfortable, and safe. Far and away the best part of this school (for us) is Ms. Taylor. We had her for Bathtime Babies and recently my husband changed his entire Thursday work schedule just so we could move to her Thursday evening Waterbabies class. She is the most enthusiastic/energetic, helpful, and sweet teacher! She even offers tips for us to make class better / our child more comfortable. It is insane as a Mom to watch my 8 month old go under water and the only reason I don't panic is because of her. He is so much more confident in the water now and is more skilled inside the pool than his toddler cousins... whoa. Everything is super clean, it's fun to watch them in the water, but two pro tips: if you're wanting to watch in the swim area wear something light weight & bring water because it is (obviously) warm! LOVE this place.

My kids attended Emler at both this and their Anderson Mill location. My daughter went from around 18 months to 4.5 years and son went for just under a year. When we first chose Emler, we had taken a free trial there, at Austin Swim School and at Aquatots. Austin swim school was very disorganized (instructor was 10 minutes late, the class seemed unorganized). Aquatots Round Rock facility was not that great (in need of maintenance, the little ones swim space looked like an oversized inground hot tub that was kept cool). Plus the instructor at Emler was a bit better overall. So we chose Emler and just stayed for years. We have a pool, so we want our kids to be strong swimmers. Through the years, we have had many different Emler instructors. Their pay isn't that great, so many eventually leave. This was always problematic with my daughter, as she took a bit to warm up to someone when she was smaller. Effectually, this would cost us money, as the lessons would not be nearly as productive any time that she had a new instructor. That said, we were impressed with many of the instructors at the time. Probably about 70% of them. They hire a lot of kids with no real swimming background though (like swim team, etc). We noticed that my daughter was stagnating as she got older. She can swim, but their curriculum just wasn't pushing her very hard to improve. Nothing wrong with her instructor. She was just following the steps that Emler has them robotically follow. My sons last teacher was our absolute favorite at Emler. Again, tied to Emlers program, but she injected her personality into her classes and she is just a joyful person. She was/is a gem and frankly much better than all of the other instructors that we experienced there over the years. We actually didn't start to look for a new program until Emlers make up policy was really affecting us. As kids get older, you end up with busier schedules. Emler will charge you $5 in addition to their normal fees to make up a lesson. Make up lessons are on specific days and times and your student will be in with random other students that are not on the same level and a new teacher that they don't normally interact with. To Emlers credit, they did work with us to fit us into existing classes that weren't meant for make ups when we started to accumulate 3-4 make ups over half a year. Still not ideal though, but refunds for unused classes were not an option. When you coupled this with our frustration that our daughter wasn't noticeably progressing anymore, it was time to look for a new school. On the recommendation of a friend, we tried a free trial at Ready, Go, Swim! in Round Rock. Wow. What a difference! They got more out of both of my kids in a single lesson than Emler would get in a month! My husband echoed the thoughts in my head and said "well, that was easy. We're switching, right?" Again, Emler isn't a bad school. 3 stars is average and I would say they are 3 stars. When we first began there, I would have said 5 stars, but that was because RGS didn't exist then and I hadn't experienced a true 5 star establishment. Both schools have pleasant staff. I would also say that my daughter did well at Emler as a toddler and I was impressed with her progression up until around maybe age 3. Emler has beautiful facilities too. Much nicer looking than RGS. RGS is functional, not beautiful. That is not my primary concern though. I want my kids to become strong swimmers and I can say with absolute certainty that will happen far faster at RGS. Also, it should be noted that RGS is slightly less expensive, has smaller class sizes and all of their instructors have a swimming background (think swim team, etc.). Plus there are no make up classes at RGS; they just extend your paid lessons by a week (same class/same instructor), so you lose nothing if you have to miss a class. I just wish we had began looking at other options when our daughter first began to plateau. I'm sure that she would be much further along by now, if we had switched sooner.

I called four times trying to sign up and never heard back. I'm guessing this location is out of business.

My son and I spend several months out of the year at my parents lake house in Northern Michigan…read more Summer is very busy with dogs, kids, and adults running in and out of the house all day long. With the lake and boat dock just 100 yards out the front door, it can be very challenging with little ones who aren't quite swimmers yet, but want so badly to be out with the bigger kids playing. You just can't predict when they will try and sneak out and play while you aren't paying attention. For this reason, this will be our third year taking lessons with Vicki. I wanted our son to be able to SAVE HIMSELF if god forbid something happened, he got out, and fell off the dock, or whatever. I know firsthand that being a good swimmer has nothing to do with saving yourself, especially when you are panicking. In addition to all of the water rules my parents have had in place for the last 40 years, which everyone, kids and adults included, are required to follow, these lessons are just one more tool in our safety kit. My mother is always super impressed with his water skills at such a young age. Vicki is great, and makes sure the parent knows what is happening. However, it is uncomfortable for some kids, and can be uncomfortable to watch at times. The kids are getting their face and head wet, they are learning to flip over and float on their backs, learning to be calm and breathe while floating on their back. Lessons are work, it is not a bunch of splashing around and fun. They are learning a new skill, which can be frustrating and uncomfortable. From my experience, many of the kids really blossom and start to love lessons towards the end, and some, like my son, tolerate it but don't love it. Which is fine, it isn't about him loving it, it's about him instinctually knowing what to do if he falls in the lake while we aren't around. I'm hoping since he is three this year, he will enjoy lessons more, but even if he doesn't, oh well. For my family, these lessons are the equivalent of wearing helmets and pads while playing sports, or sitting in your car seat in the car. Safety comes first, then the fun. We can't recommend Vicki enough, she has squeezed us in for extra lessons when needed, and worked with us by testing him not only in his clothes when he falls in the water, but also helping us select and test life jackets, so we were able to select the one which allowed our son to utilize his self rescue skills. Since we are on a lake, making sure we had selected the most appropriate life jacket was critical. Sign your kids up, you won't be sorry!

Scuba lessons are very affordable and my sage advice from trying to learn on split fins that were too flimsy, a leaking mask that didn't fit my pointed little head, and a leaking snorkel that tried to drown me. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE that is trying to help you save money. I immediately ordered my own fins, mask, and snorkel as soon as I knew what I needed. Please consult Amy...the best! Can't help but love her. Chris is awesome too. You will be taught individually (scuba), and they teach swimming for any age both individually or in small groups, all in a beautiful enclosed heated pool! And local! I was so thrilled and thankful to find them when I chose to pick up Scuba diving. If you like flying under water, following correct procedures for your own safety, willing to learn a new exciting sport working with amazing dive masters, somewhat physically able, can float easily and swim, love the water, able to pursue your new expensive habit, will always have a dive buddy, then this is the place to start and finish your Scuba Open Water Certification(s). They also have additional instructors (see website). I met three of them who certified me for both Dive 3 and 4...only 4 open water dives required, performing different skills proficiently each dive. If you are not able to perform all of them correctly, practice, get good at it, and retake the Dive you needed help with on another day. I was not charged extra for a retake). Go live, enjoy, scuba with new friends, travel when you can, laugh much, and have a blast experiencing your new sport! And learn from a professional school teacher as well as a Professional Dive Master that will help you along the way learning the skills you will need. Amy rocks as well as Chris.

Parking is an absolute mess, especially in January/February when everyone's trying to keep those resolutions going. Signing up for classes on the app is a mystifying experience -- I try to sign up a few days early, and the app says I can't sign up yet; then I sign up just before class, and it says I'm too late. So I rarely/never sign up for classes -- this doesn't seem to be a deal-breaker. I am really into dance fitness, though, and if you ever go on a Tuesday evening and see Disney World-style lines wrapped around the building, you know that Jay is teaching "So You Think You Can't Dance." I don't know how to adequately express how wonderful these classes are. Come in whatever mood you're in, and you'll leave with a smile on your face. In my gym going experience, it was/is constantly overcrowded during those times. I signed up for Crunch to be able to take the workout classes - The only time of day where I was able to take these classes were in the evening times. The Legendary Strength class with Coach Blue was by far the most challenging and upbeat class. Highly recommend his class for anyone looking for a tough and fabulous workout! Unfortunately, I took most of my classes with Charmaine. I was really disappointed with my experience in classes led by this instructor. She was constantly off, beat and off tempo, which made it difficult to follow along - especially in a group setting where timing is important. The music was also blasting so loudly over her mic that it was hard to hear any of her cues or instructions. On top of that, Charmaine rarely demonstrated the exercise clearly, so I often wasn't sure if I was doing the movements correctly. Overall, her classes felt confusing and frustrating, I didn't feel like I was getting a safe or productive workout. In my opinion, other instructors in the gym were much better, but my experience with Charmaine as an instructor was constantly disappointing.
