My 2 year old for the first couple weeks wanted nothing to do with lessons. Miss Nathalia and Miss Hannah came up with a plan to help him become more comfortable getting in the water. The team here is incredible! Their encouragement, attention to each participant, and overall ability to make learning fun is so great to watch. I can't recommend this swim school enough!

As a former competitive swimmer and swim coach for adults I should have known to cancel our lessons earlier but I continued to try to stay positive and hopeful. There is a lot of instructor turn over so they never remembered what my daughter's skill level was and asked us every lesson to fill them in. Despite asking weekly if she could move up to the next class level once she got to the required breath holding time we were told she wasn't ready. So for 8 months she was stuck in 1A as a two year old surrounded by infants. Age wise she should have been in 1B. Truly think she should have been in the other class to have older children to emulate and goals that were more age appropriate. We will be finding a new swim school that can actually teach her how to float on her own and help us feel safe with her in the pool.

I also really like that the manager is on the pool deck during classes and actively watching/engaging with the instructors. Our daughter recently started a parent-involved class and the instructor is super kind and customizes each activity depending on the kid's experience level. There's a ton of class times to choose from, a great growing space for parents & the faculty is clean (and best of all indoor). Highly recommend if you're looking for a swim school for your kiddo!

Watching all three of my kids build genuine water confidence over the past year has been amazing. The instructors are fantastic and keep communication clear and consistent. You never have to guess how your child is doing--the teachers always let you know when they've mastered a new skill or when they're ready to level up. From a parent's perspective, the scheduling flexibility is an absolute lifesaver. With three kids, finding a place where I can book all of them in lessons at the exact same time is nearly impossible, but Waterloo makes it seamless and convenient. On top of that, the location is great, the entire facility is consistently clean and well-maintained, and the lobby viewing area is a comfortable, relaxing spot to sit and watch them swim. We couldn't be happier with our experience here--highly recommend Waterloo Swimming to any family!

I'm amazed at how Ms. Ashton keeps track of where each kiddo is at in terms of their skills and what they like/don't like. She is patient and an absolute gem. I cannot rave about her and Waterloo as a whole enough. Just a few comments about Waterloo - we have had an amazing experience. From 2 of our kids being tentative to swimming to now loving it and seeing all the growth in their swimming is incredible. Today I watched one of my kids swim the length of the big pool and do a flip turn. There is no way I can do that as an adult. We explained the concerns and the reasons for frustration. He offered a free assessment session the next week. The assessment session was very thorough. The coach, Michael, was very personable and informative. Robert tapped to Michael afterwards and placed my daughter in properly assessed level. He talked again at length to explain how the school works, who to talk to for information and how to approach him for any concerns. I'm very impressed for the level of care and customer oriented approach. I feel strongly about their commitment to focus on children learning and getting them ready for the swimming skills as fast as possible. I highly recommend this school. I'd recommend to any new parent to approach Robert for any issues. He's very genuine and friendly person.

Its a bit hidden right by a playground and dog park. This summer we had her taking lessons for the Preschool class early on in the summer and a couple of weeks ago completed the Advanced Preschool. Swimming lessons were through the Rec Center schedule. If you or any family members are thinking of doing swimming lessons, I highly recommend taking the courses as they take place here. The instructors were friendly with all ages and took such great time and patience especially with the preschoolers. There are two pools at the Lake Creek Pool. Off to the side there are a handful of picnic type tables and several lounge chairs off to the side. There is a huge tent over the picnic tables but other than that, there is no shade. For just playing in the water and to swim, this place isn't too bad if you aren't looking for water slides or anything. Just a place to swim, hang out and cool off.

It's great for swimming and has a nice big deep end of diving without the board. It also has a nice shaded kiddie pool for my little one. There's no trees or grass to relax in if you're looking for that. The bathrooms are usually pretty gross. Fortunately, I don't have to use them often. The management on the swim side is very unprofessional and not very comprehensive at all. If you are a POC I highly suggest looking for employment elsewhere, to me it seemed I was always delegated the tasks the managers just didn't want to do themselves because of entitlement. Disappointed by Pool Deck Conditions and Lack of Response…read more I am a regular swimmer at the CHASCO Family YMCA and frequently use the pool. Unfortunately, the condition of the pool deck has become increasingly concerning, and my previous email regarding this issue received no response or acknowledgment. As the photos show, there is extensive dark buildup and discoloration throughout the deck, including areas immediately surrounding the pool. There is also a strong, unpleasant odor in the pool deck area that smells like sewage/sewer, particularly around the drainage/channel area. Several members were commenting on the smell again this morning, so this is not something only I have noticed. The lifeguards appear to do what they can with routine sweeping and general upkeep, but this has clearly gone beyond what routine cleaning can address. The deck needs a thorough deep cleaning or power washing, and the source of the odor needs to be investigated. This morning, another regular swimmer was actually speaking with the front desk about purchasing a pressure washer himself for the lifeguards to use. That is an incredibly generous gesture, but members should not have to purchase cleaning equipment simply to have a clean and properly maintained swimming environment. I understand that the YMCA is a nonprofit organization and relies heavily on community support. I appreciate its mission and what this facility provides to our community. But paying members should still be able to expect reasonable cleanliness, facility maintenance, and--at the very least--a response when legitimate concerns are brought to management's attention. At this point, I am hoping management will address both the condition of the deck and the persistent odor, rather than allowing members and lifeguards to try to solve a facility-maintenance issue themselves.
