While not a fan of chain restaurants, as other reviewers mentioned, Augusta is lacking in places to eat that are not chains. And many of the other options close early. We were tired from traveling all day and just wanted some decent food to eat that was close to our hotel. This led us to decide to go to Texas Roadhouse. There was no wait when we arrived even though the place was pretty much full. Our server was prompt and effiecient. We ordered a burger with cheddar, medium rare, with a sweet potato, and a chicken fried steak with a side of corn and a side of beans. The burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The chicken fried steak and sides were delicious. And the rolls and butter were fantastic. Prices are most reasonable and we very satisfied with the food and service. Plenty of parking. read more

Yes, I know this is a Texas Roadhouse and it's a chain but I've never had a bad experience at a Texas Roadhouse and this is no exception. Stayed overnight in Augusta and honestly there aren't a lot of good restaurants - it's a pretty sleepy town, so I went to Texas Roadhouse. They were busy but didn't have to wait for a table. Service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. The rolls came out hot with honey butter. I got a 14 oz ribeye steak with a Caesar salad and fries for $29.99. It wasn't Michelin dining but it was quite good, and after eating lobster multiple times per day during this four day Maine trip, a solid slab of beef really hit the spot. If I had to nitpick, the Caesar salad dressing could use a little more garlic and/or lemon as it tasted a little plain like just bland creaminess as opposed to a real caesar dressing but cmon I know this is a Texas Roadhouse, I'm not going to nitpick. Overall great experience. I doubt I'll be in Augusta again anytime soon, but if I was, I would go here again. read more

Standard Texas Roadhouse ambiance. The steaks and ribs were excellent! Food quality was consistent with other roadhouse's visited across USA. Family friendly with accessible bathrooms and seating. High chairs available. Coke Zero mix was a little off , but all other drinks were on point. Great service and attention to coming back around to refill drinks and make sure everything tasted great! Rolls were hot and butter was sweet! read more

Ok good is great. Every time I go I get the chicken fried chicken with country gravy and I've never been wronged. It's clearly a very popular place as our wait time is almost always upwards of 35mins. But! It's always freezing cold in here, the booths aren't quite big enough for a larger person. And only once of the last three times we went, were we offered peanuts! Sheesh. That's one of my favorite parts. So thank you to the actual cowboy waiter from Texas, who graciously gave us peanuts on our last trip! We love you. read more

I'm staying at a nearby hotel and put in a to go order for pick up. I didn't have high expectations for a Salmon Caesar Salad from Texas Roadhouse, but I did expect it to at least come with parmesan and croutons. The salmon was a little dry and lettuce was also kinda sad and starting to brown. The dressing was good, they gave me a giant bag of rolls and sweet butter, and I was happy to actually get silverware and a straw which are commonly forgotten on to go orders at many places. Overall, it was just okay. It met my need for a convenient meal nearby, but I can't say that I'd recommend it or be excited to go back. read more

What ever happened to their great frozen drinks? No warning they put hard boiled egg in a house salad- yuk. Fried pickles were soggy. The half rack of ribs was so dry on the outside and covered with maybe a teaspoon of bar b q sauce. Had to ask for extra. Not many dessert options. This place is way down on the list of places to go. read more

I am not sure if all these spots are the same, but this was so fun. My son gobbled up the rolls. We took our peanuts to go. I thought that was so cute. I had the BBQ chicken with sweet potato and veggies, while my son had a 12oz NY strip. How was all of that plus two soft drinks only $54? Amazing. Most impressive was the service. They were so fun, friendly, thoughtful and attentive. The people in Maine are so nice! read more

Stopped by to celebrate my twin grandchildren's 13th birthday - even though they refused to let me tell anyone that's why we were there. They absolutely did not want to sit on the saddle no matter how many times I asked. I did like being able to pick my own steak. We were seated right away and the kids devoured two baskets of rolls. That's why they wanted to come to come here. Our waitress was friendly. Orders were taken, and Fri is were delivered quickly. We waited a long time to get our dinner. When it came out though, it was cooked well. My steak - with mushrooms and onions - was a bit on the salty side but that's likely just me. The kids had burgers and chicken tenders - all with smothered fries (bacon and cheese). Do be aware everything added (cheese, bacon, mushrooms and onions) comes with an upcharge. read more

Very long wait time after being told only 15 minutes. People who got here after are being called before us.

The food is consistent, and the waitstaff and bartenders are always friendly and develop a good banter with their customers. It's a TX Roadhouse, so it is what it is food-wise. Overall, it's good until . . . . . . . there is a weird guy who is there sometimes who struts around and calls into his walkie-talkie like he's landing the mothership. He must be the slow cousin of an owner or something, because he makes people uncomfortable with his sickly-sweet attempts at customer service and the strange walkie-talkie calls. He gives the whole place a peculiar vibe when he is there, slinging rolls, issuing high-pitched greetings, and drawing the side glances of other workers and customers. read more

My husband and I stopped in here and had an amazing time. The same atmosphere you can expect from any Texas Roadhouse - music and chit chat but nothing too loud or rowdy (at least when we were there at the beginning of the dinner rush). The food was spectacular and honestly we've never had a bad meal here. The steaks are always cooked just how you like. We also received amazing service. Our waitress was very attentive and even anticipated our needs before we had to ask her. read more

Sunday afternoon . Not too busy . Been to a few Texas Roadhouses. Slow service . Missing sides , cold food . No more corn muffins ? Paid extra fee for loaded and it was not loaded at all . Butter tasted different . No warm water in ladies room to wash hands , mentioned it to waitress washing hands. She said it was cold too. She said she would mention it to management. Manager stopped by table. I told her about no hot water she said she has called corporate about it but they do nothing .she said no hot water when dishwasher was going . Hope they are not washing dishes in cold water . Employees using the rest room no hot water to wash hands. Can you say ecoli ? Yikes ! Hell to the no . I won't be back to this or any Texas road house !! read more

I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the customer service at Texas Road house. The ability to pick your own steak before being seated is very tempting and in some cases my first choice before I decide on my beverage for the evening. I was very impressed with COVID measures taken by this establishment. There is a tent located outside where an employee will add you to the waiting list and advise you when you can enter the facility. When I got there, I had a party of four and we were seated immediately. They clearly identify all booths and tables that are not to be used and are to maintain social distancing. All employees wear masks and in some cases gloves. They obviously took this very seriously and show a deep concern for their customers based on their COVID measures. I had the bone-in ribeye with baked potato and corn. I asked for a medium cook on the steak and they nailed it. It was not over seasoned, as some have claimed occurred in the past, so that is likely great feedback to help improve the quality of their products. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals and the kids definitely took home some extra steak fries. I do have to say, those seasoned steak fries were yummy and I couldn't stop eating them after I felt full. The staff I interacted with was very friendly and all were using some form of PPE as required by COVID guidelines. I would come back again to this establishment and enjoy some more of their delectable steaks. read more

Wow have they gone downhill!! This place used to be good. I got their famous filet which was tough with gristle. A filet should be tender. The other meal was a sirloin, which is what we usually get. Also tough. Won't be going back. It seems like all restaurants are going down the toilet. Lunch for 2, a good $70. Done, over and out. And on Veteran's Day I can get a free sirloin. Don't even want it. read more

Well.. six years later and my rating doesn't change. My granddaughter wanted to come here because she likes the rolls. It was her birthday sooooo we decided to try it again. Major disappointment. The hostess was straight up nasty. We had called ahead for a table to seat nine. Arriving early with three balloons, she wouldn't even answer me. Just yelled to go sit down. Food.. tasteless and salty.Luke warm appetizers and dried out .. really dried out ribs. My steak tasted like nothing. I mean like chewing paper. Our waitress was excellent and tried to make it a good experience. The place is dirty and disheveled. Sorry.. never coming back. read more

But the last 3 times we have gone they seem to have to send us home with a gift card bc they messed up someone's order at my table, now for the price of which I pay by the time we are done ordering one would think they would get it right the sad thing is my family is very easy to please but we have not been very happy the last few times and a gift card don't make it better when everyone at ur table has finished eating and you are just getting your meal!!! read more

Horrible food! I ordered the country fried steak first they brought it with the brown gravy which I ordered white, then they brought me one with white gravy overcooked and the gravy had like a tangy taste to it like it was old. The manager was walking around the restaurant and came by and asked me and I let her know that I didn't think the gravy was fresh. She then asked if everything else was all right and I said yes and she just walked off. read more

Food was fine but I accidentally left a $150 tip and asked to have it refunded , they said it should only take 2-3 days to come back into my account , it's been almost 2 months since that had happened . Contacted them multiple times and still haven't received my refund . read more

The worst food I've had in a long time! The steak was as dry as cardboard, the veggies were basically raw and the rice was disgusting. The waitress did offer a different veggie that was equally bad...canned corn! Oh and the water was undrinkable! My daughter ordered a baked potato which was raw inside. The manager came over but did nothing about our complaints. The restrooms were filthy. Never going again! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would Our server was the worst server I've ever had, like literally. Terrible attitude, Does not care, Or think, No customer service skills what so ever. Hannah at the Augusta location, Sent our salads flying to us across the table didn't say anything at all when she dropped them off, just walked away. I had asked for no tomatoes or egg in my salad when she smashed them together coming towards us at 60mph egg flew off my plate on to the table... no big deal! But when it took her 30 minutes to come back and didn't even ask how they were. (Walked away) I had to shout to her. We then asked for a Diet Coke and more bread when she came back she needed to ask again what I had ordered for a drink and forgot the bread. Maybe use a book if you can't remember anything. Maybe it'd be okay if she had any social skills. The good news is I have enough time sitting at this table waiting for her to come back around with the bread for 45 mins I can write this book about how bad hannah needs to choose a different field of work. Brought us the check while we were all still eating full plates of food???! Maybe drift away from anything involving customer service! Food was very good anyhow, props to the cooks for giving the consumers a reason to come back. But they definitely need to send her to a desk job far far away from the front of the house! I wish I was kidding about this feral experience. read more

Cheap beef eats!!! Friendly bar people make the place great! Bar service is top notch!

I'm between a 3 star & 4 star... Compared to other highly commercialized, average price-point, chain restaurants - I would give them 4 stars. The staff is consistently wonderful, in my experience, in particular, at this Augusta, ME location. It's one of my 8 yr old daughter's favorite restaurants - along with Margarita's. Fun atmosphere and consistently decent food, service... at a reasonable price point. Food arrives timely, and if you go in with reasonable expectations for what kind of restaurant this is - you'll consistently leave satisfied. Having said that, the "fun" atmosphere can often get a bit too loud during the dinner/evening hours - unless you're really going for a loud, country bar/dive kind of atmosphere... And there are definitely many higher quality steakhouses - if you want an incredible steak... be on the lookout for when OPA in Waterville has it on special... or several other Waterville/Augusta/Portland area restaurants, having the steak n chicken theme - would rate much better. Texas Roadhouse is the McD's of steakhouses, like Olive Garden is the McD's of Italian restaurants and so forth. If your expectations are adjusted accordingly, it's 4 stars if that's what you are looking for. If you are looking for a higher quality, super delicious steakhouse... this would be a solid 3 stars - in the end - that's what I give it. Great staff, and be sure to enjoy their yummy cinnamon honey buttered rolls! read more

Honestly this rating is for the horrible waitress JENNA. She should not be working in a restaurant setting. She was so bad. The worst waitress I've ever had. She messed up on the entire order. She tried to blame my Boyfriend for her mistake as she wrote it down wrong. I wish there was a survey thing you can do on their website. We had to call over the manager a few times. First time was our drinks. We sat and waited over 45 mins for water!!! The second time was the appetizers and they were incorrect. Jenna never came back to check on us. Other people were the ones that gave us our food. We tipped the person that was basically doing our waitress job. Horrible customer service from her. We saw her two times the whole time. Took forever for our food too read more

We love this spot. Recently we had Kalyb as a server and the service was great and the food awesome.

My wife and I decided to go out to the Texas Roadhouse in Augusta on Saturday evening, Oct. 8, as it is one of our favorites. We both decided to order two meals of pulled pork. We have eaten this meal many times before here. After the salads, our pulled pork arrived and we were ready to dig in. As we all know, pulled pork is mixed with barbeque sauce for that unique flavor. But...there is just right, too little sauce, or as we received, overloaded so much it takes away, or overcomes the pork itself. We never complain about food or service, but in this case we reported it to our waitperson, who in turn talked to the manager. The manager sent our waitperson back with an apology, stating " that different cooks have different methods of mix pork to sauce." In all fairness, they did offer a substitute., However, since the people we were with were already finished, we declined the offer. At the very least it would have been nice had the manager handled it themselves. I might as well have gone to the "Golden Arches" and at least walked away with a satisfied feeling. To me, my wife and I could have stayed home, and saved alot of wasted time, miles and money. Not a very good experience. By the way, our waitperson was perfect.! read more

I came to Texas Roadhouse bc it is one of my faves , everything is always so delicious the pork chops are delicious, the steaks are amazing as well my only complaint is that I had to send my steak back twice not bc it was nasty , but for some reason I ordered my steak medium and my waitress looked at me in surprise and asked if I was sure I wanted it medium and I confirmed what I wanted but when I received my steak it was well done so I had to send it back, And the second one they sent was medium well and I didn't want to be a nuisance but I know how I like my steak and I would like to get what I pay for you know , finally the manager delivered my steak and it was perfect I try not to be anal at restaurants but sometimes I'm biased bc I went to culinary school but all in all I love Texas Roadhouse read more

The steaks are out of this world, and the only place I've ever found a real Texas-tasting steak outside of Texas. (I visit in Texas only ones, but the meat is unforgettable.) it's always cooked just the way I want it, and prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is rowdy and noisy, so I go off-peak. Another guest with me got something that wasn't right, and they bent over backwards to make good on that. I am not a fan of their sweetened dinner rolls, but everything else was lovely. read more

Yesterday I decided to give Texas Roadhouse a try and hands down wayyy better than Longhorn in my opinion . I ve never seen so much food one person cannot possibly eat it all. And I quickly realized I was not alone in that department everyone was leaving with bags of food. I can t really find anything really wrong with the food just three things disappointed me the green beans would have been better if they were cooked in true southern fashion using fresh not canned green beans and the corn could have been fresh especially given this time of year . I ordered the fillet and ribs combo that steak was cooked absolutely to perfection only thing was it was not seasoned at all which I think was just an oversight . Because I was reading about their steak seasoning and saw ingredients listed and the fact that they sell it peaked my interest I just think that steak would be been even better than it already was .I just used salt and pepper at the table.Again the steak was still cooked to perfection just can t stress that enough. One other mention I don t want to leave out I am 66 yrs old been eating mashed potatoes my whole life and I have to be totally honest these were the best I ve ever had even eating them in Europe I have to say I ve never eaten any as good cannot say enough I would give this place 10 stars if I could definitely deserving of it just wished I could have tried steak seasoning read more

Extremely disgusted by my take out meal this evening! I ordered the pull pork dinner which is typically quite good and a great value. I was shocked when I got home, opened my container and saw the pork. Dry doesn't begin to describe it! No BBQ sauce, dry as a bone and burned edges. It was inedible. Even the dog turned her nose up at it. If I'd been dining at the restaurant it would have instantly been sent back but since it was carry out I'm stuck with it. It literally looks days old and like the bottom of the pot was dredged out. There's no way I'm eating it for fear of getting sick. Texas Roadhouse really has an issue finding cooks who prepare their meat consistently. I'm not sure if I will bother going back after this experience... read more
