Usually it's pretty decent food here with some options for vegans. We usually get the veggie fajitas and/or the spicy avocado bowl (without the sauce) which is normally a very generous bowl with greens, veggies and quinoa but the last time they barely had a tablespoon of quinoa in it so we had to request it and then we were only brought one small serving despite two of us ordering it and both mentioning we didn't get any quinoa (btw, the quinoa is what makes the entire bowl so without it, it is just a salad and not even half as filling or delicious) so it was a bit of a long process to make the dish ready to enjoy. The servers are usually great. Coincidently the last one we had with the quinoa mishap had very little to no personality shining through and did not crack a smile the entire time so that was a little off putting but we still enjoyed our time there with some family. It's extremely difficult to hear anyone when the music is playing as it's honestly not set at a reasonable level and we avoid coming in the evenings as we like to sit in the bar area where it gets hella loud. Overall an ok place to grab a bite. It feels sticky and a little less than ideal clean a lot of the time so I wouldn't say it's anything to highly recommend but it'll do when you gotta have Mexican food and you're in the area. read more

Recent visit sat at the bar with a friend to celebrate her birthday. Ordered a Corona/lime that arrived ice cold and refreshing after a hot day. My friend got a signature Margarita but did not like it. We both got burritos minus toppings. They were very hot plates and food. My burrito was delicious and hearty. It was made just the way I like it. My friend also enjoyed hers. The service as always was fun and light hearted. For a Monday it was very busy and people were waiting for tables when we left. The bar area was also full. Check for hours of operation. Big menu, specials affordable for families. Plentiful servings. read more

I recently stayed in Augusta on a work trip and went to Margaritas 5 times while there. I had the spicy avocado bowl with some changes due to dietary restrictions and not being a fan of too much spice. Yes. I read the name of the bowl! Haven, on our first visit was perfectly friendly, helpful and there when we needed her without being intrusive. The bartenders, Patrick and Gabby, were amazing when we sat at the bar (several times!). They were very friendly and upbeat. It was a pleasure to watch them work. On my third visit, I made a mistake when ordering and my dish came out with the chipotle sauce I thought I had asked not to be added. Again, I am the one who made the mistake. Eva was very kind and took care of it immediately. She wrapped up the meal and my friend was able to take it with her. I have been in the foodservice business for 30+ years and I know good quality food and service when I see it. It is obvious that the staff here are enjoying themselves when they work. Kudos to management for that!! read more

Food was good. Rice was over salted. The margarita used to be amazing--last visit it tasted like they used a bottle mix, not fresh made. Disappointing. read more

I'm not sure what some of these reviewers expect. I've eaten here about 4-5 times. First, it's open later than most things in this state, where they seem to roll up the sidewalks at 7:30. I never seen it dirty and the cre s have always been friendly and quick to clean up. Drinks are cold. Food has always been good. The carne asada is give a "B" but everything else I had was good. I typically don't like Mexican food and have eaten a lot in California and although it is "chain authentic" it's all pretty darn good. read more

Worst server ever! Food was decent. Chipotle salsa is fantastic. Host replied "i'm here" when I asked him how he was. (greeting) Waitress eventually showed up with princess attitude and no knowledge of dinner products. Asked for salt and her response was the chips are already salty enough. Returned with firstfull of salt packets and drops them on table. She had to ask another server every question concerning dinner items. (Are the refried beans made in house, is there cilantro in the food, ) Showed up with tipped over chipotle cup spilling on floor, laughing. Response to cilantro in burro, after requesting no cilantro was "of course there is" Server at large party next to me was busting his hump, server on opposite side was moving like lightening and exuded positivity. How did I get so lucky to get princess attitude? read more

Absolutely atrocious service I sat inside for a takeout order for 45 minutes right in front of the entrance and they let my food sit on the counter for I don't even know how long and the person working at the front lied and said it just got there the food is damn near room temperature. I will never ever order here again. read more

We wanted to like this place because it came recommended from our nearby hotel. The food is not completely bad, it just took forever for them to come out. My son felt some kind of way about not getting his shrimp appetizer until dinner and then it only had 5 shrimp. Husband was upset because the table next to us who came in quite a bit later was served at the same time as us. Special requests, such as no sour cream, were not remembered. Drinks are good. read more

Really horrible service. I thought the reviews were being dramatic but no, like worst experience we've ever had. Our server A (don't want to say her name on here) was in a rush from start to finish. We ordered and asked for more chips and then 45 minutes after ordering she finally came back, no refills or chips, to tell us that someone deleted our order and they had to start cooking it.. 45 minutes after ordering. Not once did she ever come check on us during that time. It wasn't very busy either. The food was very good though so that's why I gave any stars at all. We got the birria tortas A left the food and ran, never offered any refills or asked us how anything was. Had to stop her mid run to ask for ketchup. Watched her treat the table next to us the same. Needs training for sure. I understand accidents happen but once you found out our food wasn't ever cooked, I would've come back with some chips, apologized and then brought some refills over because obviously if we are out to eat, we're hungry! Also just drove for 8 hours and had two more to go. Horrible, will never go back read more

I ordered takeout and got queso and the molten lava cake. I got such a small bag of chips that was half full to go with the queso and there was so much queso left I couldn't eat it. :( The molten lava cake was also cold? I thought they would've at lasted warmed it up so the chocolate was melted like it's supposed to with lava cake. It seemed like they pulled it straight from the fridge into a to go container. Was at a hotel so not much else I could do to fix it myself read more

pretty much the most mediocre, americanized mexican food available in augusta. the staff is always friendly in my experience. this place is definitely great for large groups and events like birthday parties, etc. it's also great to have a place that's open late in augusta. i appreciate that they give free chips and salsa - a surprisingly rare find nowadays. their nachos are good, i also like their chicken americano tacos. their guacamole is okay - not the best. come for the vibes, not the mediocre food. i'd love to see someone make actual authentic mexican food in augusta. read more

Service was very good. Enjoyed happy hour. Food came out quick and was very good. Was recommended by the staff at the Hampton Inn.

Food was good but took way to long to get. Service was also good. This is the first time I've gone there and food had taken to long to get.

Food is solid. Service is solid. Enjoyed ourselves, great bar crowd - except that all the baseball cap wearing men need to tell you how our country is going to hell. Funny, we grew up in the '60s and the government wasn't to be trusted and our country was going to hell too. But things worked out. Sorry to witness this part of the country being so unhappy. All these patrons appear to be so angry. Shame. read more

Great drinks and great food and service, the nachos are out of this world. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Highly recommended.

Please educate your servers on the difference between a frozen strawberry daiquiri and a frozen pina colada. The waitress never came back to the table after she delivered the wrong drink until it was time to pay so I had to pay for the disgusting pina colada that I didn't finish because pineapple is gross and I never got what I ordered. Her response was "oh I'm sorry I must have picked up the wrong drink." The last time we came here it was horrible, and this time was no exception. So sad because this was our favorite restaurant pre-Covid. Avoid this place like the plague!! read more

starting off, we made a large party reservation and they were so great about it. The table was all set for us and we were sat immediately. The food was prepared quickly and was amazing. I have been a regular at this Margarita's for as long as I can remember. When I'm craving chips and salsa and a refreshing Blue Moon Margarita after a long week at work, this is my go-to place. I normally sit in the lounge, service is always fast. Never-ending warm chips and cold, fresh, semi-spicy salsa arrive quickly and are served with a smile. The chips are thin, salted perfectly, and are satisfyingly crunchy. The house salsa does have some kick to it, my 11-year old thinks it's too spicy, but I do not. Instead, she orders a small side of guac for $2 extra (I don't mind). The drinks are made fresh right before your eyes. The bar is always fully staffed and the bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. My favorite is the Blue Moon Margarita on the rocks with sugar (I mean you can't go to Margarita's and NOT have a Margarita right?) The drink is so tasty; and let's face it, the bright turquoise blue color, with the pink sugared rim, it's as sexy as it is delicious! My daughter loves to try the different smoothies and virgin drinks they offer. Beer, wine, and full bar is also available. On my most recent visit, I tried the shrimp tacos off their summer menu specials, my daughter ordered the taco salad. Our food came quickly and was beautifully presented. The shrimp tacos were cooked perfectly, just the right portion size for me. The shrimp were deep fried, and paired well with the creamy avocado chunks, the tangy cilantro (which I love) all nestled down with pico de gallo inside a cool crisp lettuce leaf. The taco salad was served in a giant deep fried tortilla bowl and was the size of my daughters head! She ordered the chicken taco salad and I snatched a piece to see how it tasted. The chicken was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and the entire forkful was bursting with southwest flavor! Every meal I have had there has been served hot, fresh, and promptly. The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, salads, fajitas, tacos, even a "Gringo Burger" for those who aren't fans of Mexican food and amazing desserts! I have tried almost everything on the menu and the flavors are always there and the food quality is consistent. (I will say I am a little sad that the Queso Fundito is no longer on the menu it was my favorite app.) The restaurant itself is large and accommodating. Good for groups/large parties/special events. It's nicely furnished with southwestern/Mexican decor, the ambiance is clean, upbeat, friendly, and exciting. It just looks like staff are happy to be there, work well as a team, and they just seem like they are having fun at their work. If you want to sit outside under an umbrella'd table, there is a lovely outside patio that you can access through the lounge. On our last visit my daughter and I chose to sit outside, it was really lovely, but it was also summer in Maine which meant when the sun went down the mosquitoes came out. I was fine with it, but they did bother my daughter - no worries. I mentioned to our server that we'd like to move inside and she was great! She was more than accommodating in helping us move our food and drinks back into the lounge. She was totally cool with it and completely understood. The Augusta, Maine Margaritas will continue to be my regular go-to for great margaritas, fast friendly service, cool atmosphere, and yummy Mexican food! read more

To sum this up for a quick review, food is good not much of a vibe (definitely dated place). The fajita plate came out sizzling hot with tender mildly flavored overcooked steak. The salad plate was okay. Nice variety of beer and good service. For the area's lack of availability of Mexican food, I am giving it a generous 4. read more

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant - Fajitas - Mexican Near Me - Augusta, Maine

We were quoted a 30 minute wait and it was less than 20, and also via text, a major plus. I've been to margaritas in other locations, this one is similar to the others. The margaritas are definitely the best menu item, as they should be! They are consistently good. The food items are mediocre, though the Baja tacos I had were quite good but everything always seems to be just a bit overdone when I go- the taco shells have definitely sat under a lamp too long and the fish was tough. But they have good flavors. Every location I've been to always seems to be busy, with lots of families, dates, friends, etc. the restaurant seems to turn parties over relatively quickly and by 7pm it was definitely getting quieter (winter in central Maine!). Margaritas isn't my favorite Mexican place ever but this is my favorite for the area! read more

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant - Flight - Mexican Near Me - Augusta, Maine

On a rainy, crappy stopover in Augusta on our way to points north, we picked margaritas for dinner based on its proximity to our hotel, and the fact it was not just a franchise we had at home, so we'd get to try something new. I feel bad for those reviewers who had trouble with the manager or the food, perhaps we got lucky, but our experience was excellent. The restaurant decor seems a little old (and carpet in a restaurant is not something you see much any more), but it was clean with perfect dinner lighting. We got seated right away and ordered house margaritas. They were delicious, and not at all stingy with the tequila. We hadn't planned more than one round but we ended up having two each because they were so good. The guac appetizer was great, with chunks of visible avocado. There was plenty for three people (our waitress brought more chips when we needed them). Entrees were the taster, chicken chimichanga, and roasted vegetable zarape. All three were excellent, and cooked perfectly. We each tried each others entrees and said "that's good!" Each time (so nine separate votes by three people). Honestly we had such a great experience I was shocked to see how many people didn't like it. All I can say is we really enjoyed it, and if we are ever in Augusta Maine again we would happily go again! read more

Great restaurant and brought a big party there and they accommodated us so well. Highly recommend!!

I would give them a zero star if I could! The worst service I have ever experienced! My sister in law got there before us and said it was a party of 6, 3 adults and a teenage boy and 2 other boys. They sat her in a booth. When we got there I knew we would not be comfortable sitting in the booth with 6. We asked to move , the manager came over and said" whats the problem?" She was very condescending saying it. We asked to move to a bigger table. They moved us but wasnt happy about it. We ordered after a long wait , (not because we wasnt ready). After an hour we got our food which was wrong. We are from out of town so we did sit and visit with family(not long). Then they came over and said since you wanted to move , we need this table for a larger group coming in. I have never been asked to leave a dinner before in my 60 yrs of life. Then they said we wont charge you for the wrong food , we took back to kitchen like they was doing us a favor! The worse food and experience from any Mexican restaurant I have ever been in. I do not recommend. read more

Came here on Veteran's Day, because they had a promo where a vet and one friend could both order anything on the menu for free... What a deal! So of course we had to get a couple of drinks, which helped wash down the complimentary chips and salsa. I know this place gets a lot of flack, and I get it... It's a chain, it's commercial, it's not "real" Mexican food, etc. I've been around the world but at heart, I have to admit to you guys that I'm still a basic white girl from Maine, so I'm pretty happy with pretty much any attempt at Mexican food, as long as it doesn't make me sick afterwards, and Margaritas has never done me like that. What I really like about Margaritas is the "naked" margs... Really great tasting beverages. The bartenders are hilarious and I will often choose a seat at the bar instead of a table just for the entertainment and banter. I hear that industry night is a hoot. Honestly I even like the style of this place. Colorful, loud, boisterous, I feel like I can be myself here and no one would notice because there's so much else going on. So yeah, I definitely recommend this place! read more

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant - Naked Coconut (hehehe... Naked ) - Mexican Near Me - Augusta, Maine

Always amazingly perfect. Jamie was our server extraordinaire and she is lovely. The food and drinks are wonderful. Highly recommend!!!

This place is terrible! The service doesn't exist. I ordered a pretty simple meal - enchiladas. An hour passed... nothing. I found our server. Apparently it was sent to the wrong table. I don't think that is the truth. I honestly think my server got my order wrong. Another 20 mins, I found my server again to ask if they found my food.. she said they were remaking it. At that point, I didn't trust this restaurant and the food that they were serving so I cancelled my order. I didn't know if they were really remaking it or where it has been... Summary of service - server didn't even check us once. I had to find her each time to check on my food. She never came to our table to refill our drinks or our chips and salsa. She never apologized for our wait or experience. She didn't care whatsoever. I know we are in a pandemic but come on... checking on a table at least once isn't too much to ask for. I eat at so many restaurants each week. This by far is the worst service I have ever had. read more

We stopped in and had some after shopping lunch and had a great experience! Our food was amazing. We got the month flight of margaritas and they were all delicious. We also orders some Mayan Shrimp as an appetizer and they were great. Just the right amount of heat and the bed of salad they were on was awesome, nicely paired together. I got the Gringo Burger with fries and it was yummy. Dan got some fish tacos and he said they were great. Not fishy tasting, well prepared and very fresh tasting. Our server is what put our lunch over the top. You could tell the dining area was full and busy, with her having most the tables but she still managed to make her rounds and give us just the right amount of attention. I even asked a question about one of the margaritas and she was kind enough to sit and chat with me about it. We will be going back again!! read more

I had a take-out order of Juan's Burrito with chicken and a frozen strawberry margarita. The food was ready on time and hot. I appreciate the service at Margarita's, given how busy it was the night I was there. We had a large party, and the server did a great job keeping on top of everything. I just wish I'd enjoyed my food more. I hate tomatoes and onions and was careful to pick one of the few Mexican entrees that didn't mention tomato or onions-- the Baja tacos. But those came loaded with chopped tomato and onion all over them. By the time I scraped all that off, I hardly had anything in my tacos. Also, the grilled fish didn't have much flavor. This was not a place I would rush to eat at again, but props to their staff for their ability to manage the crowds and keep their cool. read more
