Gardiner Artwalk night was such a success. There were so many people out enjoying the exquisite summer weather, sunshine, and engaging in conversation with the local artists. We had to stop for dinner at Lisa's Legit. I wasn't too hungry tonight but just grabbed a chicken and cheese quesadilla and a Vitamin Water. Delish! The young lady at the counter was swamped and so busy but she was so pleasant, kind and just absolutely sweet! I hope the good people of Gardiner tipped her well tonight! read more

Burrito was cold in the middle and was terrible. Chicken bowl was equivalent to a school cafeteria lunch. Even the chips were dumped out of a grocery bag and not good. All in all not good. We won't be back. read more

When I stop in I usually get the veggie grilled. The ingredients are fresh and seem healthy, but the flavor is just there. The beans are plain and everything tastes straight out of a can (or pot) without any spice added to it except some chipotle. There is nothing Mexican about the flavors. There are also no grilled veggies. The protein at least needs some flavor. read more

We had not tried this place before, but will be going back! My quesedilla was delicious and my husband's burrito was huge and packed! The prices were good and it was fun to watch the foods being prepared. They do have seating, but it seems that most of their business is take out. read more

As past customers joined with new customers we were on the disappointed side. The food is a little below average for quality everything does seemed microwaved and we even heard a microwave going. This is a bit surprising that we heard it with a radio blasting ads in the corner. Understandably sometimes you do need to heat certain things up but for certain meat items you do expect to have fresh meat cooked every two days. The restaurant itself is a bit awkward on the inside and acts more as a to-go restaurant rather than a sit down and eat a good Mexican meal. I recommend El Rodeo or keep going to Margaritas. I do think the owners have good intentions but rethink your ways of making the food and the interior decor. The restaurants surrounding you are paying attention to these things and it's a rough area to run a good restaurant with others that do just that. read more

We had lunch at Lisa's today. We were debating between pizza or burritos and we definitely made the right choice by choosing burritos! I had the Maximus Crunchimus and it was DELICIOUS. The pork was seasoned perfectly. Hubby had a beef burrito that was fantastic. The salsa was thick and chunky. We like that there was an assortment of different types of hot sauce to use. Not a bad place in Gardiner. They are an excellent community member and bring much needed commerce to the city of Gardiner. You can tell that the owners take pride in their restaurant as it is always clean and friendly staffed. However, now to the nitty grittty. Unfortunately, finding good Mexican cuisine here in Maine can be a challenge. Not because the authenticity is hard to find, but because I believe by and large that owners are failing to fully capitalize on the market. The people will pay and come in groves if you meet them half way. On my most recent visit, I had a regular ground-beef burrito. It was served in a small plastic basket and the wrapper adhered itself to the burrito shell itself. That was it. No side, nothing. Just a burrito, slightly torn and all this for the price of around eight dollars and some change. The size of the burrito was adequate, but it wouldn't have sufficed for dinner. Both my girlfriend and I ordered the fried-ice cream from the menu but was met with a blank stare from the cook/waitress/worker. Apparently they don't have fried-ice cream, which is fine - it was just disappointing because that is the item that brought us through the door. It can't be too hard to remove items from the menu if they are not offered. The solution is easy: Offer larger portions and a selection of sides. The profit margin on individual meals may constrict a bit, but the amount of clients you will net will obviously make up for that. Mexican cuisine is a novelty in this area, but don't take advantage of that. For eight dollars in an authentic Mexican restaurant, you could expect a huge portion complete with sides. Make it a value to the customer, or at least not a mediocre cold burrito that is defaced by the removal of tinfoil. read more

The food is comparable to Taco Bell. The employees do not wear gloves when handling ready to eat food. I'm reading reviews of people feeling sick after eating this food, this is not a good sign. Just ate there today actually! I frequent the Augusta location. Lisa's is located on a street where there isn't a lot of competition. Many of the government employees who work nearby frequent Lisa's and we appreciate the good prices...seriously $3 for a big taco...that's reasonable in my book. The ingredients are fresh, you can easily customize your order, staff are friendly and remember your name. Located in a neat old restored brick main street building Lisa's is perfect if you're looking to grab a quick bite, or have a working lunch with a colleague. I can only speak to the Augusta location which is in easy walking distance from my office. read more

I love this place. It's a fast food version of Mexican but with more effort put in. The owners are sweet people, the place has a fun funky environment. The owner knows my downfall are their peanut butter chunk cookies and always delivers one hot to my table for me. Talk about service. They are extremely reasonably priced and worth it. I've been to both the augusta and gardiner locations. The food is delicious and fresh. The prices are good especially for the proportion. I usually get the bean burrito with all 3 types. And mild salsa, which is flavorful. My husband gets the hot salsa, which he also likes. The owners and staff are friendly. read more

Today we had take away's from Lisa's in Gardiner. It had been over a year since i had eaten at Lisa's and was I ever disappointed. The food has gone seriously down hill. The chips on the bottom of my taco salad were broken stale bits that should have been thrown away, there were two pieces of beef compared to 7 pieces of jalapeño peppers. The guacamole was not fresh but rather the powered type, mixed with water. The salsa was poor, and the sides of beans and rice were very small. I was looking forward to the food I had before the pandemic and the food we ordered was mostly just thrown in the trash. read more

I am a frequent visitor of the Lisa's Legit Burritos in Augusta. I am never disappointed. Her slow cooked chicken and beef (have not tried pork) are incredible, and the home made salsa gives everything that extra level of deliciousness that makes you wish it would never end. The interior of the restaurant is fresh, modern and newly renovated. If you're going for lunch, I recommend calling ahead so that it's ready when you arrive. I recommend that when you eat the burrito, you keep the tinfoil on it and just peel back the tinfoil as you eat, to help keep it all together. read more

Stopped here for dinner on our way to Umaine coming from Boston. The food was delicious, fresh, and perfectly portioned. Great vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options! I had a vegan burrito with sweet potato and my father had a pork burrito bowl. They had cool options/toppings like black bean tortillas, kale, tostadas, vegan cheese, butternut squash and even dessert burritos including vegan options!! Cheap, $6-$10. Summary: Ambiance and Service = Good; Food = Terrible I actually came out of Yelp semi-retirement to write this review. I feel kind of bad, because the owner was there and she seemed quite nice, very personable. This review is for their newer, Augusta location. I haven't been to the Gardiner location, but it is the same owner and presumably the same formula. The decor was really cute, which is what drew me in. I liked the use of "Legit" in the name, kind of hip. But the food was literally disgusting. I know that I have really high standards for Mexican-American cuisine having just moved back East from California, but let me tell you my experience, because that's what Yelp is all about, right? We got there at 12:30pm and they were out of pork and out of pinto beans, already not a great sign, but whatever, right? Maybe it's a sign of their popularity and their food is delicious! Wrong. My friend ordered 3 tacos, and I ordered a loaded chicken burrito, mini size. The tortillas in both our meals were cold and tasted like either Mission or Guerrero. The size of tortilla used for the "soft" tacos looked like a 10" flour. It was more like an open faced burrito without beans. The salsa tasted like Ortega right out of the jar. The meat itself is... meh. It was alright but nothing special. Oh, and the wall menu didn't actually have any prices on it, which is kind of weird. The prices were only on the little table menus up by the cash registers, so if you're standing in line trying to decide your order, it isn't really possible to consider price. We paid $20 for an Orangina, 3 tacos, a side of sour cream, and a loaded mini burrito. Not bad, but it seemed like a lot of money once we tasted the food. The Orangina was literally the best thing about our lunch. Like I said, the lady seemed really nice, so I kind of feel bad. I know it was the owner because they had a framed feature from the local news on the wall. But to call yourself "Legit" burritos and mention craving "authentic Mexican" food right on your menu, and then serve that bland whitebred crap... We were just really, really, really disappointed. But to be honest, I don't expect to find good Mexican in Maine. We would have done just as well going to Taco Bell. read more

During my month long visit back in my hometown, I visited Lisa's 3 times. Filled my belly each time with the full-size taco salad. The full Taco salad portions are large enough for 2 of us and we're both stuffed. Today I finished with a Cheesecake burrito with chocolate and caramel sauce. It was delicious!!!! The staff is wonderful and super friendly. It's great to have placed like this adding some variety to Tiger Town. Lisa's will be a must stop each future visit. read more

So this was a tough review, the burritos are great but...they are somewhat small and the place smells like a dirty diaper. Lisa, the owner, is very nice and full of energy but the place resembles a day care inside as her kid is crawling all around. There is some concern over the cleanness of the place give the smell and the staff constantly picking up and putting the kid down from the floor. Nonetheless, the pork burrito is so good and I have gone multiple times despite the factors mentioned. On a side note, Google this place... it has a done of press coverage and some interesting articles related to politics... I'll let you draw your own conclusions. read more

Found this place by accident. Stopped in for 2 quick burritos. They were quick and yummy. Not sure why white rice not Spanish rice and the burritos were only tepid. Hot burrito fillings need to be hot so when they hit the lettuce and other cold stuff they stay warm for awhile, at least. Flavors were good, though could have used some salt. Guacamole was good and real, not canned or frozen. Best part was it was fast and people were pleasant. Food was not great but pretty good considering the alternatives. For a niche restaurant, it was "just okay." Food was served on paper plates, but it was just average. I got a quesadilla that was tasty, but kind of soft. The mild salsa was really yummy and I wish I'd had some chips to finish it off with. Food tasted fine and staff was friendly. My burrito was a bit cold due to the guacamole.

I go to Lisa's at least twice a month. We drive about 30 minutes and it is worth the ride. I share the nachos with my husband and we are totally satisfied with the meal. I like that one can choose how hot the salsa should be. I like hot and spice, my husband likes it milder. Love their garlic habanero salsa. Have never been displeased with their food. My only complaint is that they use that thick-shredded cheese that comes in huge bags and is likely dusted with anti-caking agent (i.e. sawdust), I can't stand that kind of "cheese" but other than that, their food is pretty good. read more

Certainly not impressed. Our first and last time for sure! Quesadillas are flat and meat can't get any thinner! Cheese that was served as part of the "nacho's" is actually what you would get from the movie theatre and just as equally expensive. You can tell that nothing is made by hand or unique to the place. Such a shame and waste of over $30. When I called to register my complaints, asking for the manager, a snooty man told me to "have a good night" and didn't even offer to have the owner/manager call me to make it ammends. As a previous customer service representative and having worked with the public all of my life I can tell you to stay away from this place if good food and positive, happy employees are what you wish to encounter. If I could give this place negative stars I would. The food is horrible and so are the staff! Shame, shame, shame. read more
