Traverse Coffee has some inherent advantages. A beautiful section of the Kennebec River runs through its backyard. Also, it's near Granite City Park, with its long row of colorful Adirondack chairs. That makes it a great place to drink Traverse Coffee with friends, or to drink coffee by yourself while you read or just gaze at the river flow. In addition, they seem to have a uniquely friendly and knowledgeable group of workers. I ordered a black cold brew. It was made with a Cat & Cloud roasted blend called The Answer. Cat & Cloud is off my radar, but some quick internet research suggests that they are based in Santa Cruz, CA. They have a 4.5 Yelp Star rating. The Answer blends Ethiopian, Colombian and Brazilian. It was balanced and pretty good. I didn't pick up any flavor notes in particular, which may have to with the fact that it was cold brewed rather than hot brewed and then chilled. I prefer more acidity and fruit notes. Four Stars. read more

Great coffee place. The barista was beyond great to deal with. Very accommodating . My wife had an americano and I had a cappuccino. Best cappuccino ever. The reason I gave it four stars and not five was that it would have been perfect with some pastry items like almond croissants or muffins. Cute riverfront businesses, apparently not the main riverfront, but really cool. This coffee shop doesn't stand out from the street, but that's ok. Makes it more of a gem. Walking in, the vibe is good, great ambiance, friendly staff. The coffee menu is perfect and varied. Everyone liking coffee will find something they'll like. Online I didn't see they had matcha, but they do. They also have POUR OVER. My pour over was an Ethiopian single origin. They also had a Colombian. I was looking for a pour over somewhere in town but didn't find mentions on Yelp! Hopefully now it'll show up in the search. While it wasn't as good as a pour over I had in Portland, it was very good this one was done with a Chemex method. I prefer Hario. But this is not a negative for this place. This was tasty coffee. My wife enjoyed her half caf latte. She said it had a stronger coffee flavor than other places, which can be tempered with a little more milk that I'm sure they would add without problem. Sitting out on the deck... overlooking the River... drinking a coffee... I could easily forget I don't live here. read more

This is a great spot for coffee, and when they have them, the breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is great and I have to say it is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. This is a cute little shop with friendly staff. If you have a chance to check out the back porch with a great view of the water, I suggest you do it. Love this place! I came with a friend and was not planning on getting anything but Kyle's service (and drink options) convinced me to support their business. Kyle was very friendly, informative, and obviously loves what he does. He wanted to know my name so next time I come he could greet me by name. The coffee shop has indoor seating with multiple tables. Several people were in there working. They have a deck overlooking the river. We took our drinks down to the public park and enjoyed them along the river. I had the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte which was absolutely delicious. Traverse makes their own pumpkin spice mix for the drink. I'm not usually a fan of pumpkin spice drinks but this was fantastic and I will definitely come back for another. My friend had the Apple Chaider which she also enjoyed. Traverse's other seasonal option is a Maple Cinnamon Latte. Considering how much we enjoyed the first two I would expect the maple cinnamon to be just as good. read more

This was my first visit to Traverse. I met Kyle who's one of the co-owners. He is very sweet and he's doing absolutely everything right to make Traverse my new favorite spot. My iced mocha was perfect. It took a lot of self control not to chug it all down without pausing to breathe. My wife got the "Flying Dutchman" which is chocolate and chili pepper, and the next beverage I will order when I go back as soon as I can. I love my quirky little town, and Traverse is a fantastic addition. I hope it thrives and sticks around for a long long time. read more

A cozy spot to chillax with a tasty beverage, this place is sure to be a hit with locals and summer tourists as well. Lots to choose from on the menu (separated into 'coffee' and 'not coffee') and the owners are really nice people, too. I enjoyed the music and the atmosphere in general. This was probably one of the best coffees I've ever had! I got the Pink Pearl, raspberry & vanilla, and the flavoring was amazing! From the moment I walked in to Traverse Coffee I could tell this was a true specialty coffee shop experience. The interior is attractive and aesthetically pleasing, with lots of seating room, and a nice huge bar with great counter space for computer work. But the best part is the lattes.
