Very cute little place, not much seating area inside but benches with umbrellas outside and they are across the street from a waterfront park 10/10 views. I've always wanted to try lox and this was my first time. I could eat this literally every morning for breakfast I loved it so much. Weirdly enough the cucumbers were one of the best parts of this they were so paper thin shaved it was great plus I love capers. I love the Augusta inspired names of their bagel sandwiches such as Arsenal, Augustine, and Lithgow. I also love the history of this building being the only remaining building of the mill that was destroyed by fire in the late 80's. The interior was clean and very well organized. There were a great variety of unique bagels, cream cheeses and sweet treats. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. If I wasn't in a rush I would have enjoyed my bagel outside overlooking the river but instead, I devoured it in my car as I was driving. I recommend a visit to Sand Hill Bagel Co. read more

Being in an older, industrial-looking brick building, I was shocked when I saw how beautiful this place was inside. What a place to spend your morning enjoying bagels and coffee. The service was also very friendly and patient - I took awhile to decide on the two bagels I wanted to try. There were a lot of bagel options and although they weren't as good as the ones I get around the greater New York City area, they were still decent. Will definitely stop here again, worked out perfectly on the way back from Bangor. read more

If I could do 4 and a half stars on yelp that is what I would give. I've driven past this place so many times and so I finally woke up early enough to make it over. The location is clean and welcoming. The bagel selection is vast and exciting. I got a fancy bagel this time but I see myself coming back for a regular bagel next time. Only thing that would make it better is a slightly bigger coffee menu and/or a water dispenser. read more

I love the location of this bagel shop I think it would be amazing on a sunny day to grab a sandwich and sit by the water. I grabbed an everything bagel with blueberry cream cheese and also took a lot of specialty bagels to have for the house. I loved the blueberry cream cheese it was fluffy and delicious! I think the flavors they do are awesome but i wish they covered the whole bagel instead of just the top. I think they are huge bagels which is a plus but i find the when you slice into one they have gaping holes in them from all the air in the dough. They can crisp up really well when you toast them but you're missing so much of the bagel when they have huge air bubbles. I wasn't entirely impressed with the service when i went in to order unfortunately. I wasn't entirely impressed the only customer there at the time but the girl at the front was not friendly and really didn't want to be working from what i could tell. She could have been having a bad day of course so I understand but it was definitely a sour vibe i was getting my which was disappointing for me. I will still enjoy the bagels i brought home but I don't think I will be back anytime soon. read more

In-freaking-credible. Sand Hill in Augusta, as a neighborhood, has always had a rough reputation, despite the vibrant history of the area. So to see this area getting some love and life, is so cool! This bagel shop, inside an old industrial brick building, is situated just next to the park by the river where most of the city of Augusta's outdoor events are held. A vibrant area! Walking inside I was thrown back with awe. They have used the space in such a fun way. I love the loft upstairs for seating! The decor was very modern and Instagram worthy! Love it! My Za'atar bagel was divine! I'll be back! The ladies waiting on folks were very pleasant, lots of happy smiles. read more

such a great place! i'm so happy to see more businesses in this area of town - especially one that has rehabilitated a building full of history! i'm extremely impressed by their renovations and the space overall. and such a great location being just a walk away from downtown and mill park. i've been several times and always enjoyed it. my favorite is the barnabas, but they have so many other great options. they have a wide array of drink options and great iced coffee. the prices are also not too bad, and the service is always friendly. great job sand hill! read more

This new little bagel shop is where it's at! They offer a rotating slate of handmade bagels, everything from plain, salt and pepper, cheddar jalapeno, and for the adventurous fruity pebble and flaming hot Cheeto. I am particularly fond of the salt and pepper bagel with caper dill cream cheese. The bagels are tender and doughy, toasted to perfection, and seasoned a little bit over the top - but that's what makes them magic! I am addicted to The Mary, it's your choice of bagel topped with lox, cucumber, red onion, dill, capers, drizzled with olive oil. You will NOT be disappointed. They offer bagels anyway you like. Toasted, buttered, slathered in PB&J, or made into a sandwich. Portions are hearty, reasonably priced, there is coffee, tea, bubly water, and juice for drinks. Check out the daily desserts while you're there. Treats like cheddar scones, muffins, cake, cookies, they change almost daily so you never know what the baker has up their sleeve! There is plenty of parking, it's located near the Mill Park so in the summer there's usually a farmers market, or music, or a play or something entertaining happening nearby. And of course the river is right there so it's got great views. The building is handicap accessible, lots of space inside to eat, tables outside with umbrellas. It's the old water district building so it has this hipster, trendy steampunk vibe going on inside. They give away stickers for your water bottle or laptop, check out the merch. Augusta downtown has really made a foodie comeback, if you're in Maine's Capitol City thinking about bagels - hit this place up. It's all the rage! read more

Unfortunately the food here is very bland. Maybe that's intentional because it's their clientele's preference here in Augusta? Not sure. But, neither was the food made fresh. The eggs weren't fresh made but pre-cooked patties (of some sort), bacon wasn't made fresh and stale, and the start of the show, -the, bagels- were hardly toasted...so less flavor as well. Sadly, little flavor in their food. On the other hand: Service was amazing. Very friendly people at the counter. The ambiance is cool. Build in an old mill, the setting is historic and cute. Too bad the food isn't better. :( read more

Though there is likely to be a crowd if you are there on the weekend, it will move quickly! I can't get over how quick they are for the small amount of people working here and how busy it is. First time we went, the cashier convinced me to get the flaming hot Cheetos bagel (a special) for my cream cheese, caper, red onion sandwich- it was a great idea!!! The bagels are the best I've had in Maine. My second time there I got the Barnabas with the salted zatar bagel, another great choice though I would have preferred less avocado. I've really enjoyed discovering this place and look forward to trying more of their menu- it's proving itself to be reliably good with anything- specials or regulars. A great addition to Augusta! Parking feels a bit awkward, the road is a bit narrow but you can park down by the dog park too. read more

My go to bagel place was closed today, so I decided to venture north to try a new bagel place that my friend Mel has been highly recommending. The location is super convenient, plenty of parking, handicapped accessible. Clean simple interior, with a merch spot, and a window to view all the different types of bagels they have. I got a half dozen bagels, two tubs of cream cheese, and a bagel with cream cheese, all for under $30! The bagels are super tasty and gave wonderful chewy texture, and the cream cheese flavors they have sound super yummy! I took home a garden veggie and caper & dill, and had scallion on my own bagel. Can't wait to try the others! Excellent customer service as well. I will def be back if I'm in the Augusta area again. Keep up the good work, guys!! read more

Oh my! I guess this is true of anywhere, but you have to visit Sand Hill to fully appreciate what everybody else is missing. First, the service is top notch. Everyone was happy to help and answer questions. Set in the remaining portion of an old mill, thefeel of the place balances that 'old bones' feeling with an amazing overhaul to give it a fresh new-business feel. (It opened a month ago.) A tasty variety of bagels & spreads, plus great dark roast coffee (what I had). Be daring and try the Za'atar bagel; I was hesitant but richly rewarded for my risk. :) I highly recommend it with scallion cream cheese. May try it with veggie cream cheese next time. Oh yes, there will definitely be a next time!! read more

I really tried to support this business. From the first time I went in the female owner was rude and unwelcoming. I've tried to come here to do computer work only to be told multiple times that the internet is not for customers. Really? You are cafe, pay for an extra connection. Anyway, I still tried to get over it and support this local business and would just use my own phone as a hotspot, which doesn't cure the owner of her incredibly unwelcoming demeanor, but does allow me to get my work done. Today I came in and paid $14 for a breakfast sandwich with a microwaved egg and a sub-par iced coffee, greeted by a young employee who didn't know what ingredients could be put on the bagel. When I asked for a glass of water I was denied, and the young employee cited "public water supply" as a "health risk"- and offered to sell me a bottle of water instead. This is the most bullshit excuse I have ever been given. What water are you using to make the bagels with? The coffee I just paid you for? Are you f*cking kidding? Like I said, I tried hard for many months to support and like this place, but I can't get through a single visit without disappointment and poor to rude service (again by the owner, the employees are nice, if uninformed). They also over charge for microwaveable breakfast sandwiches. The only reason I have ever found myself here in the first place is because Bintliffs, apparently the only respectable coffee shop in the area, is closed on Mondays. Do better Sand Hill, it wouldn't even be that hard. read more
