Since I am basic, I ordered their pumpkin pie latte with oat milk over ice. This festive fall drink was perfectly spiced without being overly sweet or artificial. And since I was in Maine, I obviously had to get a blueberry muffin. The blueberries in this muffin were some of the freshest I have ever had and I can see why Maine is known for them. There were a couple outdoor seats in addition to the indoor seating, but I took my order to go. The service was extremely friendly and engaging and I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

There was truly no greater feeling than walking up to this cute, cozy little bakery and seeing a "Sold Out" sign, knowing that I had maybe 20+ pastry items waiting for me. The taste lived up to the hype. I tried the pistachio croissant, which was unique and had a lovely unexpected chocolate filling. But the apple kouign amann with the caramel filling was simply to die for. I got other pastry items to see how they stacked up against Portland's greatest (e.g. ham & cheese croissant, plain croissant, bagels). These standard items were good, I think where the Place Bakery truly shines is the more unique pastry items that you won't find elsewhere. They are clearly gifted bakers, have a trusted cult following and are a staple in the neighborhood. If you're only open on the weekends and still able to float as a business, you're doing something right. Run, don't walk, to the Place Bakery.

Simple but amazing. Elevated is an understatement. 3rd up was grilled cheese with bacon and cheddar. Again amazing. Last was the Shakshuka. Absolutely wonderful. When we first came in, we were a little nervous because seating is only available after you put your order in so it's a bit of a roulette as to what table you're going to get or if you're going to like it. Atmosphere, the ambience was perfect for a breakfast place. It had the right vibe. On a sign when you first came in it says trust the process. And the process just works by the time you are ready to order and paid a table has vacated and you go and sit down. It just works. Overall, I don't think we could've had a better experience. We will be returning on Friday with pictures next time.

So much so that it overpowered everything else for me. I would just skip it next time. There was also a hearty portion of tomatoes which was nice, but the wrap was pretty wet. My partner order the fried chicken sandwich and also felt it was a little too wet, again with nice fresh vegetables and great tasting bread - but under seasoned chicken. To add to it we had a honey matcha latte which seemed light on the honey and matcha flavors. And a blueberry cookie which was delicious!
