The Place is such an incredible addition to the Midcoast, I'm not sure what we even did before Chelsea and Chris moved here. And I would be absolutely devastated if they left. I LOVE THE PLACE. My husband makes the effort of driving an hour and back at least one weekend a month to pick-up the best baguettes you've ever had (I lived in France for a year, don't come for me, I'm serious here) and the most incredible bagels (we're obsessed with the bagels) which are preorder only, and all the delicious pastries galore. We even cheated at Thanksgiving this year and included one of their pies, zero regrets. You can't go wrong with a single thing, unless of course you get there too late or you don't order ahead. Then you have gone wrong, no question. Thank you for existing, and for feeding us your delicious carbs.

You know it's good when people are lining up in the cold rain 15 minutes before they open. We loved it.

I rarely eat two pastries for breakfast, but when I do, I do it at The Place Bakery. I loved both the chocolate croissant and my morning bun.

The daily selection of goodies.

I was looking for a special Maine blueberry pie for my partner when I came across Mount Dessert…read morePies. That man knows blueberry pies. We decided to get one on our way out of town and I'm so incredibly glad we did. Another review says these are the best pies on earth. They're not exaggerating. At all. That blueberry pie was the best pie on earth. I don't need to describe every detail. It's absolute perfection. Seriously, this pie is so good you might have to admit it's better than your grandmother's. The location is tucked away on the main road in and out of Bar Harbor. It's so cute! One sister runs the bakery while the other runs the Bed & Breakfast (which looks absolutely adorable). I'd go back and stay at their b&b just to eat pie all day everyday.

Mount Desserts Pie Company had thousands of positive reviews, so we decided that's where we had to go. When you arrive, there is a handmade sign on the side of the highway for the shop and the driveway to pull in is a little tricky and takes a minute to figure it out. We pulled up right in front of the doors. Tip: turning right after you enter the driveway says "exit" only, so you have to pull straight ahead, even if it seems like you're not supposed to park there. We headed inside and were greeted by a friendly woman named Brit who had a ton of pie boxes ready to go! We got our blueberry pie and ate half of it in the car after we drove away. The pie was exactly what we wanted: fresh, local, great texture, and buttery crust. It was perfection! Another tip: it's cash or Venmo only and you can call ahead. $35 per pie. It's whole pies only, they don't sell by the slice.

Such a fun experience to go in and make some tough decisions - or don't and just get one of each! I didn't realize I needed a grab and go cheesecake experience in my life until my friend sent a reel about this place!! I got the lemon blueberry, it was amazing. So much flavor, well balanced combo of lemon and blueberry coming through! My friend got the Cherry Garcia and I tried a bite, it was good, nice cherry and chocolate pairing! Apologies to the those facing lactose challenges, this place is going to feel like torture! I did get some baklava, which as also delicious! There are some other cake options as well.

There are so many flavors that it is hard to pick a favorite but I would say that you have to start with the blueberry and add on from there. We also love the pistachio and the Oreo but you really can't go wrong. The entire concept is genius and it's amazing how many pieces of cake there are and the wide variety! I also think it is great for kids to see the honor system at work. I love everything about this business!!!!

There are 2 locations, one at Brunswick and Portland. From what i've heard Brunswick is better so we decided to try this location. Once we entered the building we looked at their menu. They have extensive flavors and also sorbet and low sugar options. They do let you try and i've tried a few. I ended up settling with hazelnut and peanut butter flavor. The gelato has nice texture and flavorful. Not overly sweet either. Service was great and the staff was very attentive. Overall it's a pretty good gelato place. I like the flavors and the texture. Service is excellent. Price is bit pricey but not too bad. Only thing is that it was not necessary special or unique. But still a solid place. Good stop for sweet desert.

The dining area is spacious and pleasant. They have high and standard tables. They sell three kinds of Maine coffee: CBD, Upta Camp and Mbingo mountain (roasted and packed in Waterville). Food is similar to what I have seen in gas stations and corporate self-serve cafeteria - only more expensive, and no one at the self-serve asked for a tip. There are places to sit and eat what was purchased. There are large windows to watch the activity on the street while eating, so there is that.
