My usual experience is they really aren't listening to what you want, and are going to try to deliver what they can to get maximum insurance billing. I felt that with Parkcrest their first priority was responding to what I wanted. First off, the turnaround on the machine was insane. My doctor wrote the prescription Monday afternoon. I had my new machine Thursday. Every other time I've gotten a machine from a medical supply company it's taken weeks to get it. My appointment was with Jen. I was asking questions about pressure settings and remote access and other details, and she was 100% responsive to my concerns. (Don't worry if you're new to this. I bet she'd do a great job explaining how it all works.) The product I received (Resmed AirSense 10 Auto with AirFit N20 mask) is an excellent, premium product. It's ages advanced over the greater-than-5-year old Respironics I was using. They are dealing with all the insurance stuff, making that easy too. The one caution I have is that if you are paying out-of-pocket and are on a limited budget, you may find them pricey. I recommend Parkcrest if you are looking for top-notch product and top-notch service.

Once sh got there and saw what was happening, she asked us why we didn't call them. We didn't know we should've. But she was great! She ran my Mom and me off, and in ten minutes he was resting comfortably. She told us we could have upped the morphine dose. We didn't know that either. I suppose all of that should have been explained to us somewhere along the way. Maybe they told my Mom and it didn't take. Other than that they were good.

Communication before my appointment was clear, the office was easy to find with plenty of parking, and the clinic was clean, comfortable, and had ample seating. The staff completed all of the standard testing before I met with the doctor, and everything moved along efficiently. I saw Dr. Haumith Khan-Farooqi, and he was fantastic. He was kind, friendly, engaging, and listened to my concerns. I never felt dismissed or rushed. He explained my diagnosis, why surgery was recommended and what the next steps would be. As someone with anxiety, I really appreciated that he didn't brush off my concerns. Instead, he took the time to explain his experience with the procedure. That conversation really put me at ease, and I felt confident scheduling my pre-op appointment before I left. I was offered a sample of dry eye drops and a pair of sunglasses after my eyes were dilated (at checkout), neither of which had been offered at the previous provider. The front desk staff was very upfront about costs. They explained what their office would bill for and gave me the contact information, along with the diagnosis codes, so I could call the surgery center and anesthesiologist directly to get estimates for those costs. I really appreciated that transparency because I like to be an informed consumer and understand my financial responsibility before moving forward. My only suggestion is that after your eyes are dilated, you'll wait in a pretty bright waiting room. I recommend bringing your sunglasses inside with you just in case you have an extended wait in the waiting room. I accidentally left mine in the car so I sat with my eyes closed. This was the complete opposite of my previous experience. I left feeling heard, informed, respected, and confident in my care. My last appointment was in April of 2022, and given that I had LASIK in August of 2022, my vision has changed quite a bit since then! I called on Tuesday to schedule an appointment before the end of the year and they squeezed me in the very next day. Dr. A did a phenomenal job of evaluating my vision and discussing my eyes since I had LASIK. Considering we had a similar level of vision prior to LASIK, I love knowing that she's also speaking from a place of experience when discussing LASIK symptoms. Honestly, my surgeon did a great job and I have 20/20 vision, but she worked with me to help me get a pair of FL-41 (migraine lens) sunglasses with a slight boost for driving, since I always have a pair of car sunglasses and am prone to migraines. The eye glasses fitter did an excellent job of helping me select a pair of frames that looked great and fit my face. We spent a little extra time color matching the FL-41 shade to the jade-colored glasses I selected, but she was so friendly and patient the entire time. All in all, this was a great experience and my only complaint is that the coffee machine took too long so I wasn't able to get a cup of coffee before my appointment began! Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, so still a 5/5 in my book. This facility is located in a small business center, so there is typically plenty of parking, but certain sections of the parking lot are currently closed as the building undergoes a roof repair. I highly recommend this location and will likely continue coming here even though I live in South Austin now.

This year, after another great exam, the new female optician flat-out refused to honor that same discount and spoke to me in a condescending, irritated tone. She insisted the discount only applied to people who had vision insurance they don't accept--not to uninsured patients--and acted like I was wasting her time when I pointed out I could add Superior Vision at work to qualify for the discount and save money. Her attitude made it crystal clear she didn't care whether I stayed or left. To confirm I wasn't imagining things, I took my prescription to Mann Eye Institute. Without me asking, without me explaining anything, they immediately offered a 30% discount for not having vision insurance. No attitude. No excuses. No hoops. Just basic respect and professionalism. Meanwhile, Northwest Hills doesn't even answer their phone anymore. You get a text message instead, and half the time they don't respond. Fantastic doctor. Terrible staff.
