I visited your store on Thursday, January 12. It was recommended to me by my home health nurse and although I live in Bastrop, the ride to Austin was pleasant enough and the visit to the store went very well. I was assisted by the very knowledgeable and helpful, Rachel. After being measured, she recommended % Jobst pantyhose. She worked with me taking pains to assist and teach me. Prior to posting this review, I read through many and I would certainly put my experience in the very positive column. To those who have said you were upwards to 25% higher than other establishments, I must disagree. My pantyhose were $90. The Amazon price was $80. I find the additional $10 was a small price for pay for Rachel to have spent a lot of time with me. She was patient and kind. Should I choose to buy a second pair I will not order from Amazon, but rather call to have you send them or revisit the store. You provide a valuable service. Additionally, you are a small local business. I like to support local and I feel you and others like you have a right to make a profit. The only suggestion I would make would be to have a few videos available on your website for those of us who need reinforcement on how to put such things on and take them off. I've shopped at this business since the 1990's. I found out from the staff at my first visit the name of a local doctor that literally saved my ability to continue my work and my life. The owner Mur Anne and her husband are incredibly dedicated, and to this day, they continue to try to help everyone who comes in their doors. They and their staff will go above and beyond any other retail establishment to share accurate, helpful, and pertinent information, on top of providing superb and thoroughly kind customer service. In the hundreds of times I have interacted with these folks by now (phone or in person) they have all been unfailingly committed to helping me and the other customers that I've seen them assist. I am "only 32," but have degenerative joint disease of my hands and wrists. That's like fancy arthritis. When i use them too much, like writing, painting, or typing reviews on yelp, my hands and fingers hurt like a bitch, and swell to look like fat sausages. i had been looking for arthritis gloves to help with the pain and swelling all over Austin. Twelve stores in one day, and I ended up at the Comfort Store. It is a small, unassuming place, and I never even knew it existed. I walk in, and a wonderful little lady greets me. I tell her what I am searching for, and she takes me to the mother load of arthritis gloves. I show her my hands (for size), and she brings out a pair of "small" gloves. I try them on, but alas, they are too large. I think she could tell my frustration, or maybe I was in so much pain, that I seemed pissed off, but she recommended a brand that has "extra small" gloves that I could order online. She explained she has several customers with little tiny baby hands, and the gloves they carry just don't fit. She promised she would look for companies that carry extra small gloves, and convince the store to start carrying them. I went right home, and purchased the brand the nice lady suggested, in extra small. A week later, they arrived, and I just want to hug the Comfort Store lady for saving my poor, tired, achy, tiny hands. read more

My husband was recently discharged from the hospital after a series of issues during which he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. His legs and feet were swelling quite bad and after several days at home following a doctors appointment we made a trip to the store By the time I had let him out at the front door, parked and gotten in myself they had already identified what he needed. They went over how to put on his compression socks and leg wraps and their care. Doctors had been telling us we didn't need to go there and get medical grade socks, but after just 3 days at home with them and seeing the dramatic change in his swelling as well as his overall mode and ability to carry out his overnight job, I am grateful that I decided to go here and get ones that are a proper fit. I went to the Comfort Store today, recommended by my OB, and I can tell you I was a little hesitant getting compressions socks. The moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile and then Susan and I discussed what was going on with my legs, she then began to measure my foot, calf, and thigh. She was so informative about compression socks and pregnancy. When I left I wasn't worried about my legs anymore. but I am thankful she was there and helped me out. read more

Per the response by the owner... I'm sorry you feel like your employees are doing exactly what you've trained then to do but I can assure you, I am not a liar nor much for exaggeration. There was one employee helping an elderly lady, a trainee and myself in the store for 25 mins. And when the trainee finally was told to get another employee from nextdoor, I was measured and determined a medium within 5 secs. I was told immediately she was out of open toe options and in my frustration after waiting, I quickly accepted a closed toe option and was on my way. No discussion of material types or elsewise. I did indeed find an open-toed option online for $25 less and I'll continue to recommend this to any of my pregnant friends who experience swollen legs. Good luck with your business. read more

Love this place! I came in for compression stockings, and they have so much selection I didn't know where to start! The ladies working there were very friendly, and made recommendations based on my symptoms (veins hurting). They measured my legs and showed me how to put on the stockings, and they feel SO much better than the ones I got online! I guess that's what happens when you get fitted properly, lol. My brother had hip replacement surgery and I was his primary caregiver. I was in search of compression socks for my brother to wear when he returned to work (instead of the horrible white ones he received from the Healthcare professionals). My brother, a doctor, was unable to accompany me to The Comfort Store. However, the staff person at the store, Herb, was extremely knowledgeable and assisted me with obtaining my brother's necessary measurements (over the phone) in order to purchase socks in the correct size and compression. He then helped me select socks in the color preferences my brother desired. My brother cannot stop talking about how wonderful his new compression socks fit and feel. Visited the store on Burnet three times. The first time Susan the manager packaged all pieces together, there were the stockings, the triangle tip and the shampoo. The event was unremarkable. When we returned the third time upon entering no one greeted us and left us standing there. We came to be trained for the special way to put those difficult stockings on and off. We found out they would not show us how unless we would purchase yet another pair!!!!! Unfortunately we had no other choice at the time. The sales person appeared to have little knowledge about how to provide service to customers in order to retain them. When we arrived at home we noticed there was no shampoo included as was the first time and there was no triangle slip included which the other purchased pairs had included. A phone call for rectification ended up in a shouting match because Susan the manager yelled right over the speaking customer detailing that nothing is free in the store. She insisted the triangles are three dollars plus which to that point no one had ever mentioned. She also insisted that this customer had requested for this merchandise piece to be deleted which is incorrect. Considering the fact that they are outrageously more expensive (more than double) than we can purchase their merchandise online or even in other stores - their staff should at least display a decent behavior. This store cannot be commended for anyone to spend their hard earned money. It appears even one physician's office mentioned that they are reluctant to recommend the Comfort Store because of their high prices. Well done. The Dr.'s office is protecting their patients. In addition it needs to be mentioned that they appear to be rather rude. A request for the Owner to call us was left unanswered. Ignored. Stay away! read more

When you return the item, you will be charged $10 fitting fee. Even though attendant didn't measure your ankle, you didn't try on garments at the store, anyway you will be charged $10. I said to one lady that I haven't used any of your service I just picked the product that I wanted. and then she said our policy is also to protect our store from the people who found cheaper products somewhere. What?! Your return policy says only about fitting fee. I'm not responsible of stability of your business..? . To be competitive, don't steal your re-visiting customer's money and lose them forever. read more

At 39 years old I got a DVT from a long trip, my family doctor sent me to a cardiologist who unbelievable told me the blood clot was too small to worry about, 1 month later I went into cardiac arrest from multiple clots in both lungs. As a result of this experience I was sent to The Comfort Store to purchase compression hose/socks to wear whenever I have to fly by my doctor. Now I always wear compression hose/socks when I fly and urge my family members to do the same, The Comfort Store is the only place I recommend to purchase them. I recently bought some thigh high compression stockings at the Comfort Store. I wasn't going to need them after all, so I returned them a week later. The Manager informed me there was a $10.00 fitting fee and pointed it out on the receipt. I stated that the "fitting" only required 10 seconds as the associate had only taken a quick measurement of my calf. The Manager then stated in a snotty voice "And, we get paid for that!" While I understand store policy, etc., I didn't appreciate the words used and the tone of voice used by a so called Manager of a store. She could have easily explained why this was a store policy without the attitude. This store needs to learn nicer customer service! read more
