Since then, I always have a burning oil smell after they change my oil. Also, when my starter was going out, they thought it was because my battery was too weak so they changed my battery to a more expensive gel battery and didn't give me credit for my perfectly fine battery that they removed until I later complained. (They then only gave me a $20 credit). Later, the gel battery they installed gave out after only 1 year and 3 months of service. I was stranded out of town when it happened and Corb's would not give me any kind of credit for bringing the battery back. I will no longer recommend anyone to go here after these continued bad experiences.

I paid $700 in total. The mechanic told me the issue would be resolved after replacement. However, within a few days, the same check engine code returned and the issue was not fixed. A second mechanic and 3rd at muffler shop later confirmed the installed converter appears to be a generic unit that may not be sufficient for this vehicle. I had to replace the installed one again with the proper one and pay additional $500, I tried contacting the business for follow-up but did not receive a response. I am sharing my experience so others are aware. I do not recommend using him.

I rave about Poutous Auto Repair to EVERYONE!…read more I recently moved to the area and needed an oil change. I'm a big proponent of local businesses for auto repair. I tried Mister Oil Change/Car Wash for a while, but honestly felt like they were always trying to stack on additional things needing fixed on top of an oil change. I did a Google search for oil change services in the area and Poutous stood out to me because of the high reviews. The experience was so easy! My car was done in about 30 minutes. I drive an old model Tahoe and had always opted for pretty much the cheapest oil, usually a cheap Mobil 1. When I spoke to the mechanic, he mentioned that they used a price friendly premium oil that would extend the mileage of this oil change more so than the oil I had been using. When checking out, the man at the front desk signed me up for their rewards and loyalty program, which gave me about $20 off the service, making the oil change much more price friendly than any place I've been to in Houston. Afterward, I spoke with a mechanic about my Service Engine light which is throwing an EVAP leak code. He was very upfront that there was no immediate issue other than not being able to pass an emissions test. He then proceeded to tell me the process of finding out where the leak is, giving me my options based on best case scenario and worst case scenario and informed me that if the leak would take longer than 20-30 minutes to fix, they would provide a shuttle to go home and I could pick up my car when ready. He also gave me a price estimate based on similar instances. And seriously, I've never had a mechanic be so upfront with me about pricing and process. The communications I receive from Poutous make me smile! They're so genuine and so kind. I actually received "Poutous bucks" and a hand written note in the mail, and for me, those things go so far! I will definitely be using Poutous from here on out. I've never been so pleased with an auto repair shop!
