My primary AC unit was not cooling as well as it should during the peak of summer, so I got online and started searching for HVAC repair companies in my area (North Fort Worth). After looking through several websites, I decided to give Texas Discount Air a call first because of their competitive service call price ($29 at the time of this review). I was able to speak to a live person when I called around 8:00am, and we were able to setup an appointment the same afternoon (I didn't even bother calling anyone else since they were able to help me so quickly). The time scheduled was between 1:00 - 2:00, and Todd Hoffman (the owner of the business) showed up at my house at 1:00 on the dot. I explained my issue to him, and he listened then diagnosed my unit. He quickly determined that everything looked in order, but I was low on coolant. He explained that I must have a small leak in the system, and then outlined my options. He was very knowledgeable, directly answered all of my questions, and recommended in my situation that for now I should have him fill the coolant to the correct levels (which was my choice, as well). The entire time he was friendly and informative, which I appreciated, and at no point did he pressure me into doing something that was more than required. He conducted himself in a professional manner the entire service call and performed the work quickly, but never seemed like he was in a hurry to get to the next customer. The cost of the service call was extremely fair based upon previous work I've had done on my AC units, and the $29 service call fee was credited towards the repair cost, as well as a service discount coupon that I found on their website. Based on my experience, I highly recommend using Texas Discount Air for your AC repair needs, and I will happily refer my neighbors and friends to them. read more

Not sure why there are so many low reviews! We had a great experience. Our AC had been squealing loud so and then just stopped working. We called a couple companies. The first company came out and tried quoted us for about $1600 to fix the issue. We called Texas Discount Air we told him the issue and he immediately knew what it was but said he would come out and take a look just to confirm the problem before he quoted us. We called him late in the afternoon and he got out here the next day. $500 dollars he was in and out in 2 hours if that, and our AC is working again. This Texas heat is no joke and it's only May. Great service, friendly guy. We kept his card and will use him in the future because it's hard to find a good company that's honest and not trying to pad their pockets. read more

I'm writing this review to warn others about paying for a service that will not be rendered. Beyond that, having an elderly person who is by themselves pay for a service that is not complete is absolutely disgusting. It is 21° outside. My 82-year-old grandmother paid Todd two days ago to fix her AC and heat. This morning it doesn't work. Todd says that he is not working today. Must be nice. The business states that theyre open today so I'm not sure why Todd can't send someone else to rectify the mistake he made. He took her money, and told her to call someone else. We will. She will be taken care of, but how many others have you taken advantage of and left in a potentially deadly situation like this? Todd's responses to his client is despicable. You're not a business owner Todd, you're a lazy half a** contractor. I don't know how you sleep at night, but karma comes back around. read more

So unfortunate. My review rating is going back down for Todd. Had a meter study done by the electric company because of dimming/flickering lights. Electrical engineer said the AC was pulling 125 to 140 amps at start up and either the start capacitor or motor was going on the unit. (Unit was installed 9/2019.) Called Todd since his company installed it. He told me the AC would flip the breaker for anything over 40 amps. After all is said and done, he said he wasn't going to change anything if it was working correctly. Doesn't make sense given everything I told him. I'm calling because it's not broken?!? So back to finding someone who will look at it since I'm inclined to believe a week long meter study over Todd. Given his history of "unsolvable" problems... read more

My 30 year old HVAC finally died after attempts at short term fixes. After reviewing YELP and my neighborhood app I saw consistently good reviews for Texas Discount Air and gave them a call. Todd came by that afternoon when he said he would and confirmed what I already knew, that I needed a total replacement of my interior and exterior units. He quoted me a flat price of $7500 for a total Rheem system and helped me arrange financing for it which was quick and painless, and set an appointment for 9AM the next day. The crew arrived one minute early and hit the ground running. They were quick, polite and professional the entire time. They were also very friendly. Not "used car salesman" friendly, but genuine and polite at the same time. They were just a bunch of really nice guys. They didn't waste any time or goof off in any way. Wanted to give a shout-out to Todd and Texas Discount Air AC/Heat for helping us out the other night! Our capacitor went out on Wednesday evening and these guys worked us in and didn't even try to up-sell or overcharge us. We were prepared to sleep with fans and 85 degree temps but they took care of business that evening and we were able to sleep comfortably! If I knew it was about to go, I may have been able to save just a little by buying and installing myself, but we were caught off guard. Still, we were not taken advantage of and got a great service for the price. If anyone is in a jam, I'd recommend these guys. We will use them again if the need arises. read more

When I explained my ac issues he said he was the owner of the company and he could work wherever he wanted. I asked him if I had offended him in some way and he said no. My neighbor referred me to Texas Discount Air. I can never repay him!! On Friday, July, 14, , our air conditioner quit working. The temperature inside our house went up to 80+ degrees, and was continuing to rise. The outside temperature had been in the triple digits for the past two weeks. It was around 1:00PM when I called Todd, the owner, and he said he could be at our house between 3:00 and 4:00 that afternoon! Todd arrived around 3:30. He immediately went to work diagnosing the problem. He diagnosed the problem in about 30 minutes. He gave me a quote for the repair. It was very reasonable. i asked him when he could come back to fix it and he said he could fix it right now! I couldn't believe it!!!!! My wife and I had already planned on staying in a hotel until it was repaired. He went to work on my AC, and he was done in about an hour or so. The house started cooling down right away, and today, Saturday we're at a cool 73 degrees. Todd said he has been in the business for a while, and It sure did show. I have two units and Todd has helped me three times. Each time he has come out he shares exactly what is wrong with my units and what my options are for repairs. He is extremely fare in his pricing and the services needed. The first two times I got competing options and offers. Each time Todd was the best option for my family (Amazing how Todd tells you whats wrong and the other guys just want to put in a whole new $10K unit). I called Todd last Friday as my unit suddenly shit down and he came out later that afternoon and got my unit up and running again in 15 minutes. I previously had a great experience with Texas Discount Air when my heater quit working in December. Because the repair job was something very small that I could've googled, Todd walked me through the steps, charging me only for the $29 service call. I would've been so overwhelmed, trying to make this minor repair on my own. He bolstered my self-confidence and was extraordinarily kind in his encouragement as I learned how to be better at doing the kind of maintenance any home owner ought to be able to do. Today I had Todd stop by when our A/C quit working. Within seconds he identified a cut wire. He spent perhaps 20min replacing and re-running the wire, then charged me only $29 for the service call. I'm a little grumpy because I have been sitting in an 85 degree house all day, but here goes nothing. We did not actually get to experience service with Texas Discount Air because he cancelled 20 minutes before we expected to see him. He texted my husband to tell him he does not service our zip code. We live in Fort Worth, and the website clearly states Fort Worth as one of the cities that is serviced. This notification should have occurred earlier today so that we could find someone else. We called him today after using him last summer. He made such a good impression that we knew we wouldn't call anyone else (even though we had a home warranty)! Called this morning at about 9am because our unit stopped producing cold air last night around 6pm. He called back immediately and said he could be here between 11:30am and 12. Todd came to our house to help with our AC because it wasn't blowing cold air. First impression was that he had a lot of bookings and was trying to get finished with us as soon as possible. He looked at our system and found a leak in the refrigerant, which was causing the temperature of the air to not be cold. The leak was small but enough to cause problems. He said he does not fix leaks. He recommended three options. One, recharge the system. Two, recharge system and fill with substance that might fill the leak. However, he said this option was like a coin flip and not likely to work, and it cost $550. Third option was to replace the entire system (?). I asked Todd what he recommended and he acted like he wasn't able to give his advice. Exact words... "That's your decision..." We went with option one and we will have someone else look at it. Bottom line, Todd was not the person I would want to do any major work on my AC unit, which is fine because, according to him, he doesn't fix AC problems. Last year, we had another person come look at our unit. We paid the same amount and the technician was at our house for over an hour. He inspected the unit, ducts, and went into our attic to inspect up there. Todd spent maybe two minutes looking at the unit before coming back with his three options. read more
