The guy checked off that there is no frame damage on the car. First time I go to open the good and it's stuck. I eventually get it off and notice the frame is bent on where the latch is mounted causing the latch to be bent forward. This wasn't on the report at all. Also I paid for the "expert inspection as well". Had I known about how bad this damage was I would not have bought the car. The entire reason I paid for an inspection was because it had reported damage on the car fax. read more

My dad is a gutter contractor up here in Seattle, WA. We spotting a 2016 Chevy G3500 box truck we liked and the owner assured us that our long drive back to Seattle shouldn't be any problem and that the a/c unit for in full working order. I am very impressed with the quality and detail of the two inspections I have ordered from Russell and his team. Both were distant internet purchases where it was not feasible time or money wise to travel to the dealers. When a delay in the scheduled inspection came up I was notified immediately so I was not waiting for a late report back. The reports Texas 1st provides are exactly what you need to make a buying decision. They will call you just after the inspection and provide you with a report over the phone so you can make a decision to wait for the detailed report via email or pass on that vehicle immediately. In my case both vehicles were in tough shape which the photos from their websites didn't show. The unseen oil leaks and blue smoke on the test drive are tell-tale signs of bigger issues. Nicks, dings and chipped windscreens also don't show up in the pictures or the sellers descriptions but Texas 1st notes them all. Since the first two inspections yielded two duds I'm quickly working on the next car on my list, contacting the dealer for availability and scheduling for Texas 1st to inspect. Yes they have earned my repeat business because they are that good. Now you may think spending $169 to inspect a car as expensive but It is not. I bought our last vehicle sight unseen and 900 miles away ten years ago and still own and drive it daily. No issues with it except for those items listed in the inspection report. Needed tires, sales price was adjusted for that and I replaced the tires. Needed an alignment, had that taken care of as well. I look at the cost of the inspection as money well spent. A Texas First Auto Inspection is a big tool in my/your toolbox when purchasing a used car. I would use Russell and his team even if I was local because they are so easy to work with and it eliminates me taking the vehicle to an inspector that could be on the other side of town. Another way to think about Texas 1st is they are like a OBD2 code reader. You plug them into the vehicle and they tell you all that is wrong with it. Simple as that. read more

Would not recommend. Paid $169 for the Expert 160 point inspection which included paint depth meter readings, 30 pictures, undercarriage inspection, interior inspection, a video with sound and verbal confirmation. Received a .pdf with 29 low quality cell phone pictures. Almost impossible to tell paint finish quality or possible damage. No notation of the heavy aluminum oxidation everywhere in the engine compartment. No paint depth meter readings, other than "these 2 panels have been repainted". Undercarriage inspection failed to note or image the heavy corrosion on the lower control arms, the most common place for corrosion to appear. Interior inspection failed to note or image what looked like coffee stain spots covering the entire center console and instrument cluster. No video was provided. No verbal confirmation was provided. Did not return any call messages or note the customers purchase concerns. If you are looking for an inspection service, find someone else who actually has attention to detail, a real camera, and can read the advertised inspection report requirements. read more

Avoid them. Paid them to inspect a classic car for me prior to purchase. Report came back with no issues reported whatsoever, except for a few minor body flaws. Received car, and found that they had reported "excellent" on items the car did not even have, and several significant flaws (leaky valve cover on engine, nearly inoperable brakes, inoperable turn signals, inoperable reverse lights, etc.) were not reported at all. These guys are either incompetent, or had been "convinced" by the dealer to not report these things. Cannot be trusted. read more
