Our meal at Texan Diner was great! We will be back for sure! Pictured is the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich and the Cheeseburger. We didn't care for the bread listed on the menu for these items so we asked for Texas Toast and they had no problem accommodating our request! Both sandwich and burger were the best we have had in a long time. The onion rings were on point and the French fries were great as well! To top it off we tasted the Buttermilk pie and the German Chocolate pie. I would totally drive to Haslet to buy a homemade pie from them! Simply Delicious! read more

My husband and I came to Texan Diner for breakfast this morning. We came in and were seated immediately, but waited a while to be greeted by our server. (Either they weren't sure who was serving us, or they have a great sense of team spirit - we were waited on by three different ladies for our meal!) While waiting for our server to arrive, I noticed the people sitting behind my husband were upset about something regarding their food...not a good omen. We both ordered the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and didn't wait long for it to come out. However, we were sadly disappointed when it arrived. The gravy was the first thing I tried and it was not good. Everything on our plates was drastically under-seasoned (read: was it seasoned at all?). With some salt and pepper, it tasted better and the quality of the steak was really pretty good. The biscuits, which were highly recommended by our waitress, were really dry. As my husband put it, "they crumble into nothing when you take a bite." While we were eating, the group behind me also had multiple issues with their meal. One woman ordered eggs over-easy; they came out over-cooked. The table also complained about the Ranchero sauce to the point that the chef came to their table and apologized. The woman said, "This is disgusting. You should take it off the menu." We'll probably give it another try, but it might be a while. read more

The restaurant itself- CLEAN. The staff- FRIENDLY The food- EXCELLENT. So we've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sometimes we come twice a week even. I can tell you that we've never had a bad experience with the food nor the service, both are always on point. The food is super fresh, and comes from local purveyors. The owners and kitchen staff often roam the dining room double checking that everything was satisfactory. The wait staff is always on point. Prices are more than fair, and competitive with other local cafes that don't offer as much taste or options. Just some faves I can rattle off the top of my head... For breakfast I like the Bayou eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce is SUPERB! I've also had the creole scramble, which was also perfection. The cornbread pancake is delicious. For lunch my favorite go to is the Texan Cobb. Fresh! Delicious! Check. And check. Another lunch fave (I believe also on the dinner menu) is the hamburger steak with shiner gravy. YUM! Dinner- pork chops! Or hamburger steak! Sides are always rotated but I love the creamed corn- definitely my favorite. Also likely the best fried okra I've ever had came from there. Perfect batter, yet not soggy on the inside as okra can get. Beer, beef and cheddar soup is delicious! I find myself making my choice based on the sides of the week. I always plan on getting the salad which doesn't have sides but when I see what it is I always change my mind. Save room for pie! Literally the best buttermilk pie on the planet. It's taken the place of my lifelong love for pecan pie. Updated: I'm sad that Texan is no longer open for dinner. I haven't been since they changed hours, I miss it terribly but I work too far away to have lunch there. read more

If you have not been here, get here especially for breakfast. The food is ALWAYS perfect although service can wane on occasion when the wait gets long. The variety of dishes are intriguing with Cajun dishes that are delicious. The quality of the ingredients in every is undeniable and the orange juice is freshly squeezed. Excellent! read more

Eating here is kinda like playing baseball. You might hit a home run, and you might get hit in the face with a fastball. I've been here probably 8-9 times and I've had some 1 star experiences and also have had some 5 stars. The lack of consistency is what will probably keep it at a 3. I'll keep coming back just because when it's good it's great. I only come when I feel brave or lucky though and am prepared for a let down. It's not a safe go to. At least not yet. Let me put it this way; I live two cities away and we drive all the way to Avondale to eat here. Everything I have ever ordered here was made from scratch and delicious. I've had burgers, meatloaf, veggies, mac and cheese. Today for lunch I had the chicken fried steak, and it was my favorite kind; thick crispy breading and the meat was fork tender. I'm not joking, I ate the entire thing with just a fork. The huge steak knife that came with my dish sat untouched. The huge homemade onion rings were thick, crispy, and delicious. This was a very unexpected gem in our new Hometown of Haslet. Wife and I went this past Sunday after Church around 9:30. It was packed out and busy but we still managed to nab a seat. We were immediately treated by a very friendly waitress. She let is know the house special for the day and took our drink orders right away. The place was clean and had a great small business owned feel. Wife went to the ladies room and she said it was surprisingly very clean. Usually small places like this have paper and toilet paper everywhere but she said the ladies room was well kept. When she came back from the ladies room our waitress immediately noticed and took our food order. Wife had the pulled pork eggs Benedict house special and I had the breakfast chicken fried steak. They were big portions and filled me up. I was very impressed. The steak was not hard and over cooked. My eggs, hashbrowns, and pancake was also very hot. Wife could not finish her plate. She did say everything was delicious and she even gave me a taste of her pulled pork. It was a great place and we will probably make this our new brunch place for after church everyday. read more

This diner is awesome, five stars all the way. All the food is scratch made. The burgers are made from ground brisket and they taste amazing. They also have one of the best chicken fried steaks in the Fort Worth area. the breakfast is equally amazing and the service is so friendly. We've only had breakfast here, but it's our new favorite pancake place. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and the coffee is pretty good. I always get the blueberry pancakes and they are pretty large and two is plenty. My husband sticks to buttermilk (and he is VERY picky) and just eats them with butter. The only negative I have is that a few times, my pancakes were a little bit raw in the center (I did bring it to the server's attention the 1st time just as an FYI) but I just ate around it the other times. The pancakes are large enough (and tasty enough) that I wasn't going to ask for a redo for a two inch wide section of raw pancake. The buttermilk are never raw-I think it's due the extra moisture from the blueberries. After all that: great breakfast place. read more

I had one of the best breakfasts that I've ever had in my life here this morning. I got the smoked bacon combo. It was a few delicious slices of bacon, two eggs, hash browns and a small pancake. Excellent food and good choices. Had the Sabine chicken and a plain hamburger with fries and onion rings. Probably the best onion rings we have had in a long time. Burger was was done with fresh beef and coarse ground, loose packed - superior!! Jeanette had the German Chocolate pie. She had a one word description- Devine! Pies are made on site. The food here is generally very good and the service is okay. Our biggest complaint has come from the eggs. Omelets, scrambled, fried - all have been under cooked numerous times. There is zero consistency in eggs. That aside, my husband loves the chicken fried steak. And the french toast, pancakes and waffles are great as well. The service varies heavily between servers. Sometimes it is superb, sometimes it's frankly terrible. You may have a wait during prime times on the weekends, but turnover tends to be quick so stick around. read more

So bummed to see a large Facebook chain on all of the poor experiences people have had here recently (several dozen people actually!!!) chiming in on it about rude employees, not making doordash deliveries right when they were shorted food, flies being everywhere, food quality having gone down hill, etc. We came here twice so far being newer to the area but the second time wasn't near as good, order was wrong, cold, etc... and now that I've stumbled on the post about how many poor experiences customers have had recently we will not return.
