I actually frequent this place quite often, they have bingo on Wednesday's that maybe once to twice a month my family and I will attend. Nick the commentator/DJ is amazing. However, yesterday, Thursday, they were running a huge deal and selling crawfish for $1.99 a pound, and they had their normal $9.99 all you can eat catfish, so needless to say my family wanted to go. When we get there my mom's friends from her senior living home were already there and had seats for us, great. We order our food, it took a while but it came out, then we decided we wanted more food, the crawfish was a little too spicy for me, but my daughter loved it, so I asked the waitress if I could order the catfish, and 2 more pounds of crawfish for my daughter. My mom's friends also wanted more food and proceeded to make their orders. After an hour the waitress comes out at no fault of her own, and says ladies here is your check, the kitchen has been shut down, we are over capacity for food orders and they haven't let me even put in your orders for the additional food. Again, this is after an hour of waiting. Now I understand being busy; however, to shut your kitchen down at 7:30 pm, when you all decided to run this special and not be properly staffed nor were you prepared to handle the amount of people coming through your doors, which is very counterproductive of what was trying to be achieved. (Filling the place on a Thursday night, when it is usually dead) So many people were leaving upset or waiting forever to get seated and they never did, ended up leaving. What an tragic fall from one of the more fun good food hand outs. We moved here 8 years ago and this place was busy as hell and food was great. Waitresses were fast and great personality's. The last few times service has gone to crap and have not seen same waitress more that one time. We would always get wings on Tuesday I think and they were pretty good, but I go them last night and I would bet anything they were microwaved. I'm not sure this place should be allowed to call themselves Cajun or creole. I lived in LA. They're known for big flavor. This place doesn't add flavor to anything. Fried catfish had no seasoning but tasted fresh. Beans and rice was really bean soup, no rice. Mac N Cheese - tasted like a box mix...worst of all though was the mashed potatoes. Good serving size of catfish; poached and spiced. Too much salt. The Etoufee, err sauce, was chicken stock flavored with copious amounts of white pepper and thickened by a cornstarch slurry. Some neighbors complained about this and new management but today we gave it a try for ourselves We confirmed the negative reviews. ! We came in and no one welcomed or acknowledged us. Nothing has changed here folks. The table service is horrid. I set for 15+ minutes without being greeted by the server. Trust me, this is normal operating behavior. Eventually, I had to move up to the bar for service. My guess is no one is managing the joint, tables were not cleared and the table service collectively always sucks. WOW! Why haven't I tried this place before? I hit myself in the head because not only is this around the corner of my Boyfriend's house but it is such an amazing local find! We came here for Cinco De Mayo which I forgot and it is a shame since I am Mexican :/. So we were excited in trying this place out, I read reviews and seemed like most people complaint about the smoke and the service but not the food or drinks and since we just wanted to try a lot form their menu thsi is what we had: -cup of gumbo -fried pickles -burger -wing special 18/$10 (spicy garlic as suggested by server, lemon and pepper, and original hot) -2 cokes -2 margaritas -one beer (unknown) All this under $50!!!! we knew we wouldn't be able to eat everything but for some reason we wanted to eat like kings especially with the live entertainment they had going on for Tuesday night for their Cinco de Mayo celebration. In order to celebrate the day, the DJ had a pinata for guests to hit with naughty novelties and candies which was so appropriate for the event (hee hee), Bingo which was actually fun and out of the ordinary with gift cards for the winners, and to top it off the service was great! The smoke did bother us a bit but we just moved to another table because we didn't want to leave the entertainment, gifts, delicious food, and tasty drinks! So to paint the picture of my desperation, I actually ended up here because Burger Kings drive thru had closed, I drove to Whataburger and decided I wanted something better, plus I didn't realize there was a McDonald's right next to this place, open 24 hours. So literally, I would have chosen BK and McD's over this place had I known and now after having eaten here. . . I was correct. I actually called ahead from the Whataburger parking lot, having seen on their menu a burger with an egg, cheese and applewood smoked bacon, so I ordered that and they said 10 minutes. So off I went back. Unfortunately, the 10 minutes ended up being 20 and I sat in this smoke infested, sad little bar area waiting for my burger. Lots of sports screens though, so if you're into that, there you have it. The patrons were the typical midnight crowd at a place like this. I'll leave that to your interpretation. Anyway, I got my burger and headed home. So the good. . . They gave me utensils and ketchup and mustard packets! I'm sure that was the girls that did that. So that's the 2 stars. The kitchen on the other hand. . .left off the bacon on a bacon and egg burger. It's like missing one of the ingredients on a BLT, it just shouldn't be done. I've been coming here since this place first opened and it has always been my favorite hang out spot. I am incredibly sad at how the business has been ran into the ground in the past year and a half. I came with some friends and my 18 year old sister on Saturday at 9:00. From the moment we got out of the car and started to walk in, there was a strange vibe about the place. There was a group of people out front, upset because the employees were trying to get everybody out so they could close early. At 9:00 on a Saturday evening. We went in and there was 3 people total at the bar and only 1 other table. We sat down and when our waitress reluctantly made her way to greet us, we asked her if they were about to close. She gave some weird answer about how most sports bars close at 2 in the morning. We were confused but asked if it was okay to order food, to which she responded, "uhh ok." We ordered our food and it came out pretty quickly. We were about halfway through our dinner when the waitress came back and asked how old one of the girls at our table was and said since she wasn't 21, she had to leave. It was about 9:45 at this point. We were all in our 30s with the exception of my sister, who was 18. Only two of us had any alcohol, which was just 1 beer each. I told her we were almost done eating and were planning on leaving afterwards anyway and to just bring the check. Before the check arrived, the lights came in for last call because they were closing for the night. I'm tired of all of the excuses this place makes on why their service is so bad. Being short staffed from the pandemic is no longer to blame if every other restaurant in the vicinity is able to keep adequate staffing to keep the doors open for their regular business hours. Ordered 2lbs of crawfish for lunch. Comes with corn, potatoes, and carrots. The portion of corn and potato served was a joke. Served half of a half on the corn and the potato was smaller than that. Had asked for sausage with the crawfish and was told it was underneath everything. Sausage was not cooked with the crawfish, brought out in a side bowl after the fact. Standout hamburger and sweet potato fries. Had to say that right off the bat. I've passed by this place for over year before we stopped in one evening to give it a go. Glad we did. My family and I went to this restaurant, honestly because of the name of the establishment. (My husband is from Louisiana) They were advertised in a circular we received in the mail and the food looked absolutely amazing!! When we got to the establishment it was all good! My husband ordered a PoBoy with a side of gator, I ordered the Cajun Pasta, my older daughter ordered the chicken bites from the appetizer menu with a side of French fries and my younger daughter ordered a cheese pizza from the kids menu. Of all that was ordered, the only thing decent was the pizza from the kids menu. My husbands Po Boy was "wack as fuck!" It had absolutely no type of sauce, looked to be on hoagie bread instead of French bread, and the catfish fillet was sitting on a bed of what looked like radicchio. He was highly disappointed and didn't even touch his food. My older daughter ordered chicken bites from the appetizer menu BUT what she actually got was a kids order of boneless wings. That would have been ok BUT my daughter is 9 and a soccer athlete and it came with like 4 chicken bites that also happened to be cold which was quite disappointing. Now on to my order, I wanted the Cajun pasta. Our family doesn't eat pork so we're sure to read the description of EVERYTHING (which is what I did) My younger daughter and I were leaving out of the restroom when I saw my husband speaking with our waitress about my order. He was sending it back because it had andouille sausage on it. There was nothing at all in the description that said any type of sausage was on it. (Pic included) We even asked for another menu just to be sure we didn't overlook it. We then asked if the pasta was made to order or if they made a big pot in the mornings. Our waitress wasn't sure (she said she was new) so she asked for us and sure nuff, it was a big pot made that morning that included sausage and all the pork juices. NOPE! I can't eat that, so instead I opted for a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was also gross and looked rushed! I was starving so I'm like what the hell, I can at least try it. So I cut it half, took 2 bites and was absolutely disappointed AND disgusted! Now on to the drinks, we ordered the little one apple juice but they were out so we got her pineapple juice instead. My daughter got lemonade which was cool and my husband got a Dos Equis which was also cool. I ordered a house margarita on the rocks with a salted rim. I mean hey, can't go wrong with a margarita right? WRONG!! It was all watered down like it's been sitting for a while and tasted so nasty! Not to mention, my rim wasn't even salted. If dirty mop water was a drink, that would definitely be it! I took 1 sip and even had my husband to taste it just to be sure that I wasn't trippin or anything. He too confirmed that it was watered down and was way off! YUCK! So that sat there too, untouched. The 1 star was me being generous! If 0 was an option, they would have definitely gotten that! Overall, this establishment is a disgrace to the name and the state of Louisiana. Anyone who says otherwise, I feel bad for them. We recently have visited Tewbeleaux's in an effort to find good crawfish that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I really appreciate the crawfish on Wednesday's which is 3.99 a pound. I've been to some places that give you 5 pounds but you always question is that really five pounds. They really give you the full amount and the seasoning is very good not too spic but just enough heat. We have tried a few other things on the menu and have enjoyed all of it so far. Used to love coming here but since the new management it's had horrible service, rude staff, been dirty, and has horrible food. Waited 25 minutes for the check to come out when there's literally 3 tables total, I then walk up to the bar because nobody is there & as I ask to pay the lady at the bar says "that's a Lindsey question" in response to asking to pay here. I was here for a friends bday on Monday and Tewbeleaux's was packed. There was actually a wait at 6:20 on a weeknight. There was no parking in their lot left so you had to park in the lot next door. They did have 16 wings for $10 which is a great deal. Prices were good for drinks. The food was just ok. Several of our orders were wrong and we had to wait 20 minutes to place drink orders, another 20 minutes to place food orders, 45 minutes to get our food. I asked for a condiment with my meal when ordering and waited 25 minutes for it after my meal was delivered. Many times our server was asked 3-4 before we actually got our water refilled or another beer. Other people at our table who frequent Tewbeleaux's said they have only had decent service once out of 20+ visits. But they don't go for the service, they go for the cheap food and beer. read more
