Came here for a work event awhile back. My father in law raved about the place which had me excited. Parking lot is a bit smaller but I got lucky thankfully. We were in a side room which initially had a weird seating arrangement, but the they fixed things and eventually turned on the lights. Not a big deal, just a strange start. Service was very good throughout. Appetizers were pretty good. Everyone raved about the eggplant rollatini. Clams were just ok as was the fried calamari. I got the veal chop parm with a side of penne ala vodka, as I noticed others doing that on here. The veal chop was a good quality cutlet, however the breads didn't stick well so it was on the soggy side. The flavor was there, but it looked and ate sloppy. Sauce was good, not great. Cheese wasn't browned either which is a pet peeve of mine. Vodka sauce was great, while the pasta was a bit overcooked. At least I had plenty of leftovers. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food well enough. Final bill was a bit more than expected however still not insane. Maybe not a world beating dinner, however this was perfectly enjoyable for its purpose. Main dining room looked nicer so would recommend that instead. I have been to Tesoro many times over the years, however, it's been several years since my last visit. My wife and I attended a family dinner there for Easter. We had a large group: 18 adults and 3 children. Tesoro did not disappoint. The staff handled our large group like a well oiled machine. Very attentive, friendly and efficient. The owner circulates the restaurant and ensures that all guests are enjoying themselves. The food here is fantastic. Traditional Italian cuisine prepared to perfection. We began with cold Antipast, eggplant rolatini, baked clams and calamari. Unfortunately, I was unable to photograph all these dishes as they were gobbled up very quickly. The eggplant was outstanding. Creamy riccota filling covered with a wonderful red sauce . Baked clams were great . Whole clams perfectly seasoned. Antipast contained quality cured meats and cheeses. Calamari was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. For the main course my wife had the veal Tesoro. She described it as unique and delicious. It was stuffed with eggplant and mozzarella and covered in an exceptional red/brown sauce. The only drawback of this dish is that it does not include a pasta or other side. She would have loved the sauce on penne. This appears to be a theme on many entrees. Including that would have been a huge plus. I went with ravioli and meatballs. The meatballs here are great. They contain a blend of meats that result in a distinctive texture and flavor. They have a great array of traditional favorites. My son chose the chicken parm which he enjoyed. Although we moved out of the area a few years ago we will definitely be back soon. Well worth the 45 minute drive. Tesoro is an old school ristorante that has been in this location for over 45 years. They truly provide a fantastic dining experience reminiscent of years gone by when the guest experience and the food was extremely important to the owner and staff. This is a lovely family owned restaurant worthy of this praise. They are conveniently located on Old Country Road in Hicksville at the end of a small strip mall. They also have their owned dedicated parking lot. You enter into a nie medium size restaurant with a wonderful bar area just to sit and relax. Plenty of windows allow ample lighting during the day and the evening light is soft and effective. You feel very comfortable in these settings. We came as part of our Kiwanis club meeting and had our own area with one very long table to seat us all. The staff here is very attentive to detail and paid a lot of attention to our group. They took our orders first so our meeting could begin and they would just bring our food. My meal was simple and tasty.. A nice cold crisp salad to start followed by an order of sole oreganata. The sole was fresh and tasty. A nice size order for dinner but not enough to also finish at home. The meal went very well and was followed by some coffee. This is a comfortable place to come fo a meal and I am happy to recommend it to all. am looking forward to returning and ordering off the menu. This place was so good, i'm unsure where to start! We were a big party of 10 on a Sunday and this place did not disappoint. First off, their complimentary starter bread is downright addictive, especially the one with the red sauce on it. I started with one of their specials, a sausage type egg roll served with marinara sauce. For my entree i got their pork chop served with peppers, potatoes and onions. The pork chop was thick, juicy and the veggies were perfectly cooked and slightly charred. Service was a little slow but we were a big group so it made sense. I've been here quite a few times over the years but apparently never left a review. When I do visit it's usually with a group of about a dozen or so guys that I've worked with at one point or another throughout the last 30 years. We all enjoy returning because the food and service is always excellent. Some of my favorite appetizers are:. Breaded and fried mozzarella topped with a lemon caper sauce (in my opinion it's the best item on the entire menu). Shrimp cocktail is also a standout because the shrimp are colossal and delicious. Many of the entrees are very good but my favorites are the chicken on a bed of spinach and the stuffed Chilean sea bass. Last night (6/23/23) I tried a short rib special served with ziti on the side. The meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork and the sauce was spectacular. For dessert you can't go wrong with the tiramisu or tartufo. It's an all around pleasant experience and a relaxing way to spend a night out for a satisfying meal. The staff is attentive and accommodating and it has an upscale ambiance without being stuffy and it keeps a pretty casual atmosphere. For starters, the waiter was very rude. The first time when he was taking orders, we had asked him to wash up before he went around to ask people what they wanted, because he smell like cigarettes really bad. They purposely did not put the wine on the tables so people were coming to the bar and we're ordering drinks top shelf. They never told us that it wasn't an open bar. We asked three times while we were there to get the wine on the tables and they didn't, instead they filled all the pictures of soda, then took forever to get bread and anti-pasta on the tables. The cold antipasto was supposed to be the sliced tomato with the mozzarella the roasted pepper on top with the vinegar drizzle instead, they did something weird on the dish. Then some of us had asked if there was any supplements to the menu because of their gluten allergy and the waiter was rude and told them there is nothing they can do about it and to figure something else out. We were shocked there were no choice of vegetables or salad and the pasta portion was less than a baby portion. The chicken franchese was very eggy While we were there, there was a flood in both bathrooms and some of our family members couldn't use the bathroom. At end, they never asked anyone if they wanted coffee. And when we went to pay the bill they charged us for an open bar which was an additional $30 per person. I might have to say it, that this was one of the best Italian Restaurants I've eaten at on Long Island, and I've eaten at spots all over the area. The 516 and 631. Two of my best friends and I came down here because I've had 2 gift certificates for this place for a very very long time 2011 and 2013, so we decided that tonight is the night. We rolled in around 745-8 and immediately was greeted with a handshake and a smile from the manager Vinny, who was on the phone, but still had time to say hello, incredibly warm and nice guy. We sit at the bar for a pre-dinner drink. Bartender comes over, takes the order, pours out the Martinis and Old Fashioned, and we enjoy good conversation, watch the Mets game, and relax for a bit and catchup. Have a 2nd round too, and a few of them he took care of, nice guy!! We move to the table and put our stuff down, my buddies wanted to go have a smoke, I say sure so I join them. I don't smoke but I hung around and chatted while they did. We come back inside and, the table was already set for all of us, Bread Basket on the table, Waters Poured, and a Welcome Wagon for Kings, We loved it!! Our waiter comes over, Joey, really nice guy, around our age so we chatted it up with him and talked about all sorts of things. He was on point with everything, refills of Wine and Water, Checking to see if we needed anything, recommendations, small talk, all of it! Amazing service. The place wasn't crowded, maybe 1 or 2 tables filled with 4-6 people each. 2 waiters, a bus boy, and incredible service and care to us, wonderful guys. I decide to get a Steak, Medium. My buddy gets the Fish and Risotto, and my other friend gets the other Italian Dish pictured. This is all honesty from each of us from what we had. Bread Basket- So many choices and styles of bread, hard, soft, flavored with cheeses, oils and butter, amazing with wine as a starter. We got Crab Cakes with Lobster Sauce too...and I'll tell you right now, that Lobster Sauce is out of this world, fantastic. Crab Cakes were hot, fresh, and delicious too. We got Mozzerella stuffed with Avocado and Proscutto too, delicious, fresh, flavorful, and filling, best appetizers ever. My steak was so juicy, hot, and tender that I couldn't ask for a better cut. Especially while we were having our 2 bottles of wine for dinner!! I 100000 percent recommend the steak if you're in the mood. Now, the downside is the Fish and Risotto. I took a bite of the fish and it was "fishy" like a not so fresh vibe. I wasn't a fan and neither was my friend. He also hated the risotto. So beware of the fish. My other friend with the Cheese Italian dish loved it. Also, the manager came over, we schmoozed about Show Business, Movies in New York, The Food, Italy, Family, all sorts of stuff. Past Friday, party of 6 (4 Italians,1 Irish and one PR) we usually go out once a month for get together and try different type of food and cuisine, we usually avoid Italian restaurants because we know better. The place is nice and well lit, completely full, the Valet parking was a little bit overwhelmed because of the rush hour, but OK overall. Our waiter was a tall fellow, black shirt with moustache, I dont recall his name, very friendly and professional. We order some drinks from the bar and were decent, except the Diet Coke was served in a small glass with lots of ice, a little overcharged for such a small drink with not refill. We share some antipastos for the table, -stuffed shrimps (terrible, look like the shrimp was boiled then stuffed, no flavor). - Fried (rubberish) Calamary - Grilled Octopus was mostly salad, different parts mixed together, not full tentacles, cold because was pre prepared, not good. As entree we order some "Special od the day" - Sesame crusted Swordfish with broccoli rabe, the waiter asks how we like to cook, of course rare, when served the whole fish was cut in sliced and GRAY in color, not pink at all, the taste was just like the look Gray as well, Broccoli rabe were good, but we have sent back, they asked if want to another entree, No Thanks, was disgusting. - 2 Filet of sole and shrimp oreganata, same as the stuffed shrimps, same slimy flavor. - 2 Racks of Lamb nocello was good, tasty. No complaint. - Zuppa di Pesce with marinara sauce, the sauce was full of prepackaged "italian" dry spices, something out of Olive Garden or the frozen section of a supermarket. - The Salmon Bianco was plain flat, not flavor at all. As usual at the end we split the bill in 4 using 4 credit cards, the waiter brings us 4 bills and 4 pens with the name of the restaurant print on, we all laugh and take the pens home as a reminder not to ever come back. read more

I've been going to Tesoro's for over 30 years. I live in Brooklyn and try to get back there 4 or 5 times a year. The service is great and the food is always spot on. Love the Cesar salad, fried zucchini is the best and always love the sole almondania or the chicken Parmagina. My kids who also love the restaurant love the ambiance and the wonderful food. The food was superb. The atmosphere romantic and charming. Comfortable seating, classy uniforms on the waiters, and a very warm and welcoming feel. And priced accordingly, portions adequate for a meal but don't figure on leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Everything is a la carte, excepting a very small serving of a simple vegetable on the entree plate. We shared the Carapaccio app which featured beautiful fresh red beef thin enough but not where it was falling to shreds, atop chopped arugula mix and plenty of shaved cheese. This was delivered by a charming young lady who drizzled oil for us and brought cracked pepper. She was the exception to the rule as far as service. Our waiter, Alex, was friendly enough- what little we saw of him- but seemed a bit rushed. He served our entrees, wished us 'buon appetit' - did not pause and inquire if there was anything else he could get us -and he never looked at us again until it was time to bring the check. At this price point I expect much, much more attention. Add a salad and a side vegetable and you are easily over $50 per person. I expect to be checked on within five minutes of serving, I expect to be offered a refill on my $4 cup of ordinary decaf, and I don't expect to have to wave down a busboy to beg for a refill of water. We saw plenty of Alex though as he passed our table multiple times without so much as a glance. To add further insult, the workers at the stupid forced valet parking left us standing in the cold for five minutes as they couldn't find what they did with our car. They weren't even apologetic; just made excuses for themselves. I also noticed what appeared to be the door of another guest's car left hanging wide open when the guy came over to us. So, exquisite food--and multiple fresh seafood choices every day, I learned. I hope to give them another shot before long, hoping the disappointing lack of service was an odd exception and not the rule. read more
