Perfect dinner spot with unique bar food and great drinks. We stopped by the Tipsy Barrel a while ago and we were very impressed with all the different food and cocktail offerings. Grab your friends and order a bunch of their appetizers to share. My favorites were the Birria Tacos, the Lobster Mac and the Korean Popcorn Chicken. The tacos were perfectly crispy and cheesy, the mac and cheese was cooked al dente, and the chicken had such a delicious gochujang sauce. Everything was incredible and the drinks were just as good! Definitely stop by for a night out with friends or a date night. Thank you to Kaitlyn for the exception service! Drinks: - Real Men Wear Pink - Kiwi Margarita - Ol' Neighborhood - Mojito Mocktail Small Bites: - Korean Popcorn Chicken - Lobster Mac - Birria Tacos Entree: - Skirt Steak

Cheesesteak egg rolls

On a saturday night after zip lining about 20 mins away, this place was a great night cap. we sat outside in a lounge-esque area and loved it. our server was awesome (it was only her 2nd week, i wish i could remember her name). so friendly and cool. quick & on point of everything. i tried their house beer, the red tipsy is better. shots of tequila were modestly priced. in regards to food, i grabbed the fry sampler with 4 sauces. i highly suggest getting this. its very sharable, but my fat ass had it as an entree. double fried, crunchy fries with 4 banging sauces. must get! my friends grabbed the cuban and philly cheesesteak egg rolls. this looked absolutely impressive. they loved the cuban more, but i have to say - both looked so cool. plenty of free parking, easy to find, indoors and outdoors, loud music, and overall fun atmosphere.

It was a good accidental find. The bar has its charm with inside and outside areas. Me and my husband were welcomed by a bartender who was also a server. We ordered drinks, and hubby ordered a beer that was not tasting right, so the bartender changed it with no issues. The food was decent. The highlight, for some reason, was French fries with different dipping sauces; those sauces were awesome. I gave four stars for those over-fried chicken wings that felt like chicken crisps; they were no good. The cheesesteak was good and, portion-wise, great for two.

Yummy food, great service and nice ambiance. There's music but not too loud so you can hear your friends. I got a burger and it was yummy. Really like the fry presentation. Friends got Mac and cheese, popcorn chicken, quesadilla and some drinks. We were all pleasantly surprised. It was my first but won't be my last.

Better than I imagined...nice indoor space with actual barrels as tables along with a bunch of high tops as well. But the real draw for me to return would be the huge outdoor side area, that had some heaters. This area was not yet set up, but is a private area, green with astro turf and outdoor games. The front, has nice patio tables with umbrellas. Generous happy hour, decent menu, Lee liked his chicken sandwich and I had the nachos...which were excellent, but I regretted it later that night. Would love to see some lighter oprions, though I have no idea what they would be other than crudite. Excellent service, young, happy servers. I grew up here, attended elementary school across the street and I was with a group of people from high school, and then others arrived much later ..this is the perfect place to get together, and no need to leave for another destination..you can easily park yourself here all night, no other destination needed. We will be back, Im sure

Shrimp steak chicken tacos

The place is cute. I like the aesthetics a lot. Cute vibe . I went to get happy hour content for my Instagram page @pickyourhappyhourspot & I love their taco Tuesday's deal. Their happy hour usually is 3-7. But on Tuesday you get margaritas for 5$ all day. And the tacos are good. I loved the steak taco the most. I have to try their pizza taco because I love jalapeños I was just full. Yummy shrimp taco .. I like it a lot honestly . The steak taco flavor is *chef kiss * I like the sauce with the taco . the chicken taco had a cilantro marinade. I was iffy about it lol. I told them no gauc also. But the marinade actually was good and the chicken was tender. I started off with a mango marg. ( my fav ) . I felt the flavor was more than the liquor .. so I tried passion fruit .. it tasted better .. so now I'm like okay Letme try their regular flavor marg to see how much liquor inside .. okay now I'm feeling nice 3rd marg in lol ( I'm writing this caption in present time of me here) I tried the spicy margarita too it wasn't bad .

Really good food though, mozzarella sticks, steak tidbits and lobster Mac and cheese

TLDR: Pass. Walked in on an early Friday evening with my best friend. Greeted by a nice bartender. There was a man with a young toddler playing at a table... another female bartender was getting her binder ready for her college exam (good luck). We sat down and order shipyard pumpkin ale on tap, however they didn't have the keg set up so they poured bottles for us, and charged us import beer rather than tap (found out when I got the receipt). They have an outdoor area that's ok. Some seating and Astro turf. The crowd is eclectic, found early twenties or older 40-50s. Lots of locals who talk about Merrick Ave Middle school, a lot. While we were at the bar, the bartender asked if we wanted Jamieson shots, sure! Later found out we were charged for them... so you ask us to do shots and then change us? Wild. The food was actually really good. We got Mac and cheese, mozzarella wedges and steak tidbits. Honestly it was great. My friend went to the bathroom and I went to pay the bill. I didn't realize she left her card there. I paid the 106 bill and left a 40 buck tip. We walk out. My friend asked if I had her card and I said no, I didn't know she was running a tab. We went back to get it and the bartender tried to ring us up again, literally not listening when I'm saying, "the check is still here with the tip (it was paid by CC and tipped cash). We walked out of their just feeling weirded out and confused. Also the parking lot was packed and I don't know why...

It's that time of the year, no, it's not tax season, it's football season! What better way to deal with a long week than to watch gladiators battle for supremacy. And like all shows, the arena is everything. "The Tipsy Barrel" just became the pantheon of sports bars. The location isn't far from my brothers, so we arrived pretty quickly. The parking lot is small, but we found a spot quick enough. Outside the place looks small, but it's very deceiving. Coming inside this three year old establishment, you notice beautiful side wooden walls and a beautiful brick wall in the back. There are tall boy seats throughout and giant barrels to fit the theme. The hostess, who is the owner's daughter told us to find seating and quickly came over to serve us. She had a Wonderful, inviting personality as she took our drink order. We ordered wings as well, and she put it in. I couldn't believe how accommodating they were for us. They not only played the Giants game in the tv we wanted, they turned the sound up! My brother enjoyed the drink specials and took full advantage. But nothing compared to the wings. The wings were incredible! They were crunchy on the outside and juicy in the middle. They served them up with chunky blue cheese and it was delicious. I haven't had wings that good in awhile. Later on, while the game was playing she dropped the burgers. Now, almost nothing takes my attention from the tv when big blue is playing, but that burger, that burger did just that. They used plenty of toppings and cheese (did I mention I love cheese). I was all in on that burger. She must have known we liked it because I saw her drop a mic after we got quite to eat. This place became my new, Thursday night football spot. I mean what more can you ask for. It's a business that cares and is family owned and operated. I can wait to try more items on the menu.

Upon driving up to the place, the place looked HUGE. They have valet parking which is nice. They were so busy for Mother's Day that we could only get an 8:30 PM reservation. We got there early and sat at the bar until our table was ready. Its such an interesting vibe here. Fancy but also casual. The restaurant itself is impeccably decorated. They have the most comfortable seating that I've ever experienced at any restaurant. You had customers here dressed to the nines, but also people in jeans. The inside is even bigger than I thought! So clean, new, sophisticated and sleek. At the bar I had Cucumber Spritz mocktail for $12 that was absolutely delicious and refreshing. It contained muddled cucumber & mint, ginger beer, and soda. It was perfect. When we sat down at our table, the first thing that struck me was the insanely comfortable club chairs they have for seating. So cozy. They put a free plate of cut up Grana Padano cheese on the table. Not my thing so I passed. They had a special cocktail for Mother's Day called the Mamma Mia. It had vodka, guava and some other ingredients. It was seriously good, but I could barely taste the vodka. For $20, I NEED to taste the vodka! Had the House Bread and Fritto Misto for appetizers. The House Bread was so good. Warm and savory with the herded butter that its served with. Thr Fritto Misto was a stand-out. Deliciously crispy fried calamari with fried pieces of fish, artichokes and hot peppers. The fried hot peppers were unexpectedly so good. I couldn't tell what fish it was. Possibly salmon. For my main I had the Penne Primavera. Brown rice pasta with artichokes, broccolini and cured tomatoes. For a healthy dish, it was absolutely divine. The pasta was perfectly prepared and the vegetables were nice and frim, not mushy. I ate that plate pretty fast. Ended things with the Tiramisu, which was another knock out of the park. There wasnt really anything to complain about all night. The service was attentive and so pleasant. Prices are pretty reasonable for a place like this. It has other locations in Huntington and Mohegan Sun in CT. I hope to come back sooner rather than later!

The outside stood out from the rest of the store fronts. Parking was not the easiest because there are no spaces in the front, but it's not as bad as you think. The building stands out with its bright red exterior. It also has a large marquee with their name so it's not hard to miss. Inside, it has an old school feel with a modern soundtrack in the background. It's nice to see bars with dart boards and pool tables. They also have a good amount of TV's for sports, so that was great. The owner, who greeted everyone was amazing. He thanked everybody for coming and chatted a bit. So let's get to the food. The wings, were incredible! They had great flavor and they gave you a good amount during sporting activities. The blue cheese however, was not a good choice. It was watered down with no chunks. So it didn't elevate the wings. There was a lot of neglect from the bartender. We often serviced the table ourselves. When our main course finally came it, it came with a lot of errors. After about 10 minutes of corrections to our orders, we finally started eating. The burger itself was incredible! It was juicy and thick. It was definitely worth the wait, the fries were actually wedges made with fresh potatoes. They definitely stole the show. It would have been even better to try them with the condiments we ordered, but nevertheless, they were great. The only negative with the burger was the lettuce. It was not fresh and it was noticeable. However, I would definitely come back. The wings are amazing. Just maybe next time I may bring my own blue cheese. The right blue cheese matters....trust me!

Dining at Plori was Pure Pleasure . Same Plori, New Glory!…read more Plori has long been one of my favorite Mediterranean gems on Long Island. But after spending some time as a Florida snowbird, I hadn't visited in quite a while. I'd heard the buzz -- new staff, new chef ‍, new partner/manager, refreshed decor -- and wasn't sure what to expect. Change can be unsettling, but the recent reviews intrigued me. So I went back... with hope, curiosity, and a healthy appetite. Our party of five was seated immediately by a kind, reserved host named Fonda (no, not Jane or Henry ). I shared my past fondness for Plori with him, and he assured us we were in for something special. And we were. The decor now feels brighter and more elegant, lighter color tones, sculpted drop ceilings -- a subtle but classy update. The service? Gracious and warm. The food? Next-level. Fonda and I even bonded over restaurant stories, the kind of personal connection that makes you feel you're part of something special. He truly wanted us to see how Plori has evolved -- and wow, has it. We started with warm, crusty rustic bread paired with a velvety hummus spread -- the perfect Mediterranean welcome. Then came the Plori Chips: thin-sliced zucchini and eggplant , lightly fried and seasoned -- golden, crisp, and addictive. Next up, grilled octopus -- tender with a charred kiss of smoke , served over a vibrant bed of roasted peppers , onions , and fava bean purée, topped with a drizzle of sweet balsamic. Every bite was a flavor bomb . The Horiatiki Salad was a garden of freshness -- juicy tomatoes , crunchy cucumbers , briny olives , green peppers , and thick slabs of creamy feta , all sprinkled with Mediterranean herbs and bathed in luscious EVOO. Simple, bright, perfect. Then came the entrées and they were spectacular. Plori's special signature lobster dish was the star of the night. Bathed in a creamy tomato -feta sauce and flecked with parsley , it was rich, tangy, and indulgent -- so good, three of us ordered it since no one was willing to share! The Alaskan halibut was a stunner: thick, pan-seared to perfection, resting on a silky vegetable risotto with a savory lobster jus. The seafood flavors danced on the palate like a symphony -- a true standout. Also worth mentioning: the Lavraki (Mediterranean sea bass) -- simply grilled, flaky and sweet, the essence of the Aegean Sea on a plate . But the real showstopper? Dessert.! And not just any dessert... Plori now boasts desserts by legendary French pastry chef François Payard (yes, that Payard -- formerly of Le Bernardin and Daniel!). His creations are absolute masterpieces. The chocolate mousse was pure bliss -- dense, rich, and dangerously addictive. The fig cake was divine: chewy, fragrant figs layered with fresh fig jam and dusted with powdered sugar. And the pièce de résistance? A whimsical take on strawberry shortcake , layered with a crisp, straw-textured pastry nest . Creamy, crunchy, and insanely good. Off-the-hook delicious . Service throughout was smooth and attentive -- Mathew, our server, was a total pro. Friendly, efficient, and spot-on with recommendations. So, if you've made it this far, let me say this: Go back to Plori. Better yet, run. It's not just as good as you remember -- it's better. Don't forget to scroll through the pics -- they'll make you hungry all over again. Enjoy!
