Visited on Wednesday with my mom and her friend. We sat at a high top table and were ignored for about 20 minutes. I had to go to the bar to ask for menus - then was only given 1 menu. The bartender finally came over and told us if we wanted the happy hour specials, we had 10 minutes to decide (even though we came in earlier and weren't acknowledged). Tried their special sangria. It was small and average at best. My shepherds pie was decent, the app sampler did not taste fresh and was a bit flavorless. The steak on the steak wrap was tough. We couldn't even get waters brought to the table. Seems like unless you're at the bar, this is not the place to be. I'm not a stickler for service, but the food didn't redeem our experience. Paddy Power of Merrick, or should I say P^2. Love this place, great food, drinks and atmosphere. When I fight with my wife I usually head here and get some shots up on the Pop-A-Shot and get the mega mule (fairly cheap) to clear my head. I enjoy the live music (Souper Sabath) from time to time, and get the Irish nachos. Overall great place, can't wait to bring my nephews. read more

Solid bar with pretty good beer selection. They are meticulously following COVID rules and have plenty of space between tables. They also setup tables against the bar with plastic dividers so you can still feel like you're drinking at the bar while eating Cuomo fries. Staff is friendly. Paddy's is one of my go to Thursday night karaoke venues. It was when I used to drink and go to karaoke years ago and has become a go-to place again years later now that I'm sober, going through a divorce and am doing karaoke again on Thursday nights when my son is with his dad. Karaoke gets pretty wild here, most of the crowd is younger than I am but I still get along with them. The energy here is crowded and amazing. Came here for drinks for a getaway night out... Surprisingly not too crowded on a weeknight...maybe since were there early around 7pm. I heard that it does usually get crowded. Nice Big tv screens by the bar to watch baseball or other sports on. Couldn't hear the game but was there more for the company I was with. Service was good as we just went for drinks - wine and beer were good. Check out the happy hour specials. Wow, they have karaoke here too...interesting.. I've never been inside, but I was craving Steak Tidbits, and stumbled upon this place on Grubhub. The Steak Tidbits were shockingly great, WAY better than expected. Genuinely one of the better steak sandwiches I've had. Fries were pretty run-of-the-mill. A bit soggy, but that's kind of to be expected with delivery fries. came here one night with a few friends for some drinks. we are definitely not the target audience for this place in terms of looks and age but we are always respectful, friendly, tip well etc. anyway my friend ordered our drinks and a water, which the bartender gave to us. one of my other friends asked if i could also order her a water so i politely asked the bartender if i could have another water, to which he stops, looks at me and my friend next to me, and goes "your friend already has one". he didn't smile or laugh to suggest it was a joke or anything either, and it took him a few minutes to actually get the water for my friend (the bar was not busy at all, maybe 3 other people in their aside from our group). i was really taken aback by this and just found it extremely rude and unnecessary. we're not regulars here despite living locally (clearly for good reason), i don't know you, why would you talk to me or anyone like that? if it was supposed to be a joke it wasn't funny (and again, there was no indication that he was joking around). i don't remember his name but it was an older guy. just made the whole experience unpleasant and weird. we won't be going back read more

My writing group came here after a few hours tucked away at the library. We ordered a few drinks and appetizers and had a great time getting to know each other. It would have been nicer if the television volume was a little lower so we could hear each other better, but, ah, sports, can't win with them, amiright? I had the fall seasonal beer on tap (believe it was Sam Adam's) and we enjoyed the appetizer starter and even ordered another plate of wings because they were so good. I like the layout of this bar, but finding it was a little difficult. There is plenty of parking once you do find it. I felt compelled to leave a review, because this is the first bar I've ever been to where they had no idea who I was, but the bartender still bought us back tons of shots and drinks. I feel that it's the right thing to do, especially if customers are in there for hours ordering tons of food and drinks. However, there are very few places that actually do it. I go out a lot and TONS of places are super stingy, even charging for side sauces and crap like that. We got our bill and it wound up being like only half of what I expected. This is a great local "dive bar". But please don't misunderstand, I use the word "dive bar" with respect and kindness. It's the kind of bar that serves inexpensive drinks in a bare bones setting without pomp and pageantry. And unlike most definitions of dive-bar, Paddy's is clean and bright. I like to come here when I'm bored, sad, broke or disgusted. I like to come here when i'm lonely or just want to be alone (but not really). I also like to come here when when I'm happy and content within my own skin. It's a great place to just BE. During the day, it's a classic "old-man bar" where everyone greets each other warmly and discusses the events of their day. At a certain hour, a faux whistle blows and all the regulars are replaced by collegians. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of picking up my offspring here at closing time and I couldn't believe the transformation. Goody for Paddy, he can successfully cater to two separate genres. the food took an hour to come out and no one else was there and we got fries and they were from the bottom of the bag and the onion rigs weren't even onion rings and my brothers burger was cold when they brought it out and it was very red. it took my wrap a while to come out after everyone already had there food. Was here last night ordered some wings and a Guiness burger as listed on the menu. The bartenders didn't know what the burger was and then the kitchen didn't know what it was even though it is clearly on their menu.. they eventually after 15 minutes of discussing this amongst themselves decided to confront us and tell us they don't know why it was on the menu and that they don't even make the burger there... after reordering a different burger entirely it came out dry and very odd tasting and the "hot wings" looked like they were reheated in a microwave with some tobasco sauce poured into the bowl under it so they didn't even have hot sauce on them. I used to come to this place all the time now they aren't only skimpy with portion sizes of the food they serve the quality is disgustingly bad. read more

The wings were really really good! Nice crisp, good meat and plenty of flavor and heat! Waffle fries were great and a perfect compliment! I felt the fried pickles consisted of an interesting batter and were a little too greasy for my liking but the dipping sauce wasn't bad! My friend liked the fish tacos, two per order, I didn't have one instead I wanted to go with the shepherds pie, I wasn't that thrilled with it but it was still pretty good but I've definitely had better, washed everything down with perfectly poured black and tan's and the Paddy Power Ipa which @ 7% alcohol got me a nice buzz! Was there last night, watched them serve a pregnant woman who then started a fight with me. Been here before and it's always been good but after almost being involved in a pregnant lady brawl... When it comes to dive bars, paddy power really is as good as it gets. Located on one of the main streets in Merrick it is steps away from the LIRR so no need for a DD! Show your face once a week and the bartenders will coincidentally start remembering your favorite drinks, how you like your wings (super spicy) and even hold your bag behind the bar. Thursday night karaoke during the summer brings a particularly rowdy crowd with an eclectic sound ranging through every genre of music. Always entertaining but the wait list can get long pretty fast so I recommend getting there early. As for the food it is standard pub food but always consistent and never disappointing. Highly recommend it for a good night out where you don't have to try and impress anyone and can just have fun. read more
