Late at night, San Ardo shows up as a stop to behold. And once we exit, we say we're gonna die 'cause there is no one, nothing only black night. We quickly connect and start to charge. We keep ourselves aware, there's a bathroom code neigh. So we venture out alone charging our Tesla next to the olive oil light. The bathroom code works! We aren't gonna die! We laugh while driving off in the moonlight, laughing because somehow we survived. In all seriousness 4 stars with the hope there will be more amenities in the future for the night travelers.

In the middle of the night. A bit spooky!

This is a clean and new-looking Supercharger off the 101 in more or less the middle of nowhere. There was not a soul around when I came by late at night. Aside from the lights over the charging area, it was pitch black all around. I got a decent charge speed and if this is a recommended stop on your trip, go for it. There is plenty of space and ample parking. Though the lot is gravel, it's not too far off the pavement and did not seem too dusty. Five. Stars of electric power goodness.

Coke machine available around the back

Fast charger in the middle of nowhere. Next to an Olive oil gift shop, but it was closed at 3 pm on a Tuesday. Cute swing and big picnic table while you wait. One restroom available with app code, cleanliness was 7/10. Coke machine was available near the restroom.

If you are planning a drive along the Central Coast you can then use the 41 to go west to Morro Bay then travel north to places like Cambria and Hearst Castle. Keep in mind that the next SC going up north on 1 is Big Sur. There are 8 V2 stalls with speeds up to 150kW. As other people have mentioned the speeds vary depending on how many people are also charging. Amenities wise there aren't very much - there's a Rabobank with a drive-up ATM on your right, a Denny's on your left and across the street there's SloDoCo Donuts and Que Pasa Mexican Cafe. Not sure if they'll let you use the facilities due to COVID-19 restrictions. I stopped by here twice during my Central Coast drive but now that the SC in Paso Robles is open I'd much rather go there due to convenience and easier access to restrooms and food/coffee. While the Atascadero plus Paso and Pismo Beach SCs fulfills a need so that the SLO SC doesn't get super crowded there's not much to do in the town. Plus I had a rather awful encounter with a non-Tesla driver who gave me a rude gesture because he apparently didn't know that a Tesla is supposed to back into the stall in order to charge.

Needs some TLC, but it'll do if you're in the southern part of Atascadero. No food or restrooms on…read moresite. One could go across the street, I suppose.
