My friends were in town and rented a Tesla because that's what they have at home. In a nutshell, there are only 6 chargers. I think we were 4th in line, waited about 20 minutes for our turn, plugged in and the car said it would take 35 min to charge. We ran to the store and came back in 25 min and the car now says 25 min to finish charging. Haha. I believe Hawaii is not equipped for electric cars and if you're buying an electric car be sure to have your house set up for this. read more

The Tesla Supercharger station at Pearlridge Center in Aiea, Oahu, offers a convenient location for Tesla owners, but it has notable drawbacks, particularly related to wait times. While it provides essential charging services for those traveling around the island, there are significant issues that may impact the overall experience. **Pros:** 1. **Convenient Location**: Located in Pearlridge Center, a major shopping mall near the H-1 freeway, this Supercharger is easy to access and is a logical stop for drivers commuting between Honolulu and the western or central parts of Oahu. 2. **Amenities at Pearlridge Center**: While waiting for your vehicle to charge, there are plenty of options to keep you occupied. Pearlridge Center offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options like a movie theater and a food court. It's a great way to pass the time if you're already waiting for a charging spot. 3. **Covered Parking**: The charging stalls are situated in a covered parking structure, which protects vehicles from sun and rain. This is especially helpful in Hawaii, where weather can change quickly. **Cons:** 1. **Long Wait Times**: The biggest drawback of the Pearlridge Supercharger is its consistently long wait times. Due to the station's popularity and limited number of stalls, it's not uncommon to encounter a line of Teslas waiting to charge, particularly during peak hours, weekends, and holidays. This can be frustrating for those who need a quick charge and are on a tight schedule. 2. **Limited Stalls and High Demand**: The station has a limited number of charging stalls, which often leads to congestion. This problem is exacerbated by the high demand from both local drivers and tourists exploring the island, creating a bottleneck that can result in extended waits. 3. **Parking Fees After a Certain Time**: While the first hour of parking is generally free, there may be fees for longer stays. Given the long wait times for a charging spot, some users may inadvertently exceed the free parking period, leading to additional costs. 4. **Charging Etiquette Issues**: There have been reports of drivers leaving their cars at charging stalls long after they are fully charged, which further compounds the waiting problem. This lack of charging etiquette can be frustrating and adds to the overall delays at the station. 5. **No Alternative Fast Charging Nearby**: For Tesla owners, there are limited fast-charging alternatives on this side of Oahu. This can make it difficult to plan around the long waits at Pearlridge, leaving some drivers with no choice but to wait it out. **Overall Impression**: The Tesla Supercharger at Pearlridge Center is a convenient but often overcrowded charging spot for EV owners. The combination of high demand, limited stalls, and poor charging etiquette among some users can result in long wait times, making it less reliable for a quick top-up. Tesla drivers may want to plan their charging stops carefully or seek alternative charging locations during peak periods to avoid these issues. read more

Tesla SuperCharger - EV Charging Stations Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

I cannot believe that Oahu has one Testla Supercharger on the island. The have 6 stations and One charger is always broken. This location always has a long line. I wish I could return my Testla because one station cannot support all the Testla on the island. Boycott Testla until they build more charging stations!!! Piss poor service for such a nice car!!!! read more

No matter what time I come here there's never less than 5 cars ahead of me! Thank god my charger is being installed at my house this week! I waited 2hrs just to charge the other day! We need more super chargers on the island! read more

Tesla SuperCharger - Never less than 5 cars in line here! - EV Charging Stations Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

Having 1 supercharging station on the island is very disappointing! I wouldn't recommend renting a Tesla at all!!!! The chargers at this location seem to be very slow. I'm not sure what's causing that but I haven't experienced that before. read more

Very nice to have a Supercharger in my side of town 2 miles from home, but its becoming a miserable experience each and everytime. There is at least 6 cars charging and about 4 to 8 cars in line to to charge. Usually takes 1 hour to 1.5 hours to charge and get out of there. Unfortunately Kahala has 12 chargers about 26 miles away from my house. You have to valet and then charge - not a very smart idea, they are not busy I wonder why? Live in a townhouse so need to spend about 12k to install a charger - definately cost prohibitive. Definately can't wait for the 12 additional superchargers at Pearlridge - making total of 18 super chargers soon. I love my Tesla, but hate the charging process, charger is awesome, but the line is getting worse. I hope Tesla adds more super chargers on Oahu every year. There's alot of Teslas on the road. read more

The first public SuperCharger on Oahu is finally open just in time for Christmas 2021! Conveniently located at the Pearlridge Center, six stalls are situated on the first level between Longs Drugs and where Sears used to be. Simply enter from Pali Momi St (the entrance next to Chili's takes you straight back to the chargers). Four spots are the traditional back-in type while the other two are parallel parking stalls. These can provide up to 250KW/hour, which is FAST. Finally we have a SuperCharger on the island! read more

Awfully convenient... and fast! Just 30 minutes to get to ~200 miles range. That also means you can be out pretty quickly even if all 6 spots are taken when you arrive. There are 4 "back in" and two "parallel" spots. If you back in, go until your rear tires bump the concrete block and the charger cable should reach your power port just fine. read more

Definitely charges your Tesla very quickly, however since there are only 6 stations, all stations are usually occupied and there's usually a wait. If not a wait, there's also a long line that comes with it. The best time I've used this station without any wait, was a little before 5am. read more

While I deeply appreciate the availability of a Tesla Supercharger in Pearl City, it's evident that the needs of the electric vehicle community on Oahu are outstripping the infrastructure in place. With Oahu's population eclipsing 1.5 million and an impressive 20% EV adoption rate from just 2022 alone, the demand for more charging stations is undeniable. The Pearl City Supercharger, boasting only six stalls, remains the sole beacon for Tesla owners across the island. And as much as I'd like to tout its efficiency, my uploaded photos sadly paint a different story. Even at the unlikely hour of 2:48 AM, lines form, signaling a dire need for expansion. Adding to the congestion, Uber and Lyft drivers heavily occupy the stalls, making it clear that commercial use is also putting a strain on this already bustling station. As these platforms shift more towards electric transportation, the urgency for additional infrastructure becomes even more palpable. For perspective, cities like Austin, Texas -- with a population smaller than Honolulu's, let alone Oahu's -- enjoy the luxury of approximately six Supercharger stations. It's baffling to think of the thousands of Tesla owners on Oahu vying for a spot at this singular, overburdened station. To add to the frustration, two proposed additional stations remain a distant hope, lagging a year behind their initial announcement. It's high time for a proactive approach to accommodate Oahu's burgeoning EV community. Our island, our environment, and our future deserve better. read more

Tesla SuperCharger - Tesla line in the evening. - EV Charging Stations Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

The fastest way to charge a Tesla but with more EV mfg adopting the NACS vs CCS even more reason to build more superchargers in Hawai'i. The biggest gripe is there is not enough superchargers per capita considering the plethora of Tesla's on Oahu! I don't think the EV range anxiety is an issue for Hawai'i. But the charging anxiety is real. Hawai'i needs to double down on the infrastructure installations and should mandate developers mandate charging areas for all new apt, condo's and solar and chargers for homes in sun belt areas. Or there will be a serious problem. The state should negotiate with Debartlo who built Ka Makana Ali'i to do a public private partnership with them to take advantage of that open parking lot to retrofit solar carports across the mall parking creating shade for shoppers cars and passive solar farm to reduce carbon foot print of the mall! All strip malls on the west end should have solar carport charging like at times shopping center at Waimalu rd. read more

This review is for the entrance and wait line for the Tesla charge station. The overall process is ridiculous. Now that the farmer's market (which I love) has moved, one of the road entrance is blocked. You have to enter near Longs, head towards the charge stations, go down the alley, make a U turn then get in line. With the popularity of Tesla's now, this charge station is very popular. But with only 6, it obviously isn't enough. But, it's better than having no charge station at all. read more

Ridiculous amount of wait time to charge. More often than not, you show up at 7:30 p.m. and get to charge at about 2 a.m., finally. Cars waiting to charge can wrap behind the old Sears building. The cost of charging is either .60 cents a charge pkh or .50 cents per kilowatts after 8 pm. Usual charge about $35 a charge or if you're lucky about $25 dollars between 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. cheapest time to charge at this super charger and only 6 super chargers on entire island. With so many tesla owners and condo owners, we have no choice but to use these super chargers. The only other alternatives are the Fast chargers scattered all over the island and wayyyyyyyy cheaper at. 29 cents per minute so about $8.45. Yes, you read that right, $8.45 to charge my car in about 30 minutes without any lines using Electrify America. read more

Tesla SuperCharger - They added a designated wait line. Located between the Sumida Farm and the old Sears. Small sign and not double sided. - EV Charging Stations Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

The line is so so so long always. Six chargers share two power supplies. Three and three. It only charges at 50 when the two other cars are plugged in and there's always other cars plugged in. Now there is a alley in which you wait but the mall has blocked off access so you have to go down the alley next to the waiting cars. Also, you can see one of the chargers from the line so often that car will leave but you don't know it. Tesla please help us out. This is horrible. Put a mirror so we can see. Put a light. Put in faster chargers to speed up the wait. Please do something. read more

Tesla SuperCharger - EV Charging Stations Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

The Tesla Supercharger System is by far the best available. No other competitor can deliver like the Tesla Superchargers

First time experience the Tesla Superchargers on Oahu and let me tell you, it is nothing like the stations on the mainland. You'll be able to find lots of stations on the mainland through the Tesla network. With more Teslas in Hawaii, the people deserve more than one station with multiple stalls and a better configuration. It took us over 15 minutes of trying to get to the area because of all the hurdles and road blocks in the Sears parking lot. We saw one car in line and by the time we finally got there, 5 more Teslas joined. Owners charging their cars left to get dinner so that increased our wait time. However, we did enjoy playing games and watching tv on the Tesla infotainment. read more

One (1) supercharger on the leeward side of Oahu. Be prepared to spend hours every other day waiting in line and charging your rental Tesla if you plan on driving around much. Moral of this story is don't rent a Tesla! read more

Line is insane. Imagine having to wait for gas like that. There would be a revolt! It worked though.

When you drive in look up for the sign that directs you to the line. Works great for the most part. If you're a new comer to the supercharger you might not see it, but no worries I'm sure someone will either be nice or rude to you but you'll for sure know there's a queue for future charges. Also stop parking and leaving it's seriously 30-35 mins smh. Annoying AF when you've been waiting in line, fully charge up and the same a**hole is still parked cause they decided to go shopping or whatever. Inconsiderate is an understatement that's straight a-hole behavior. 6 stalls only for an entire island tf...be a little more considerate to others. read more

Waited 2 hours before I could charge. Got there at 9:15PM, didn't leave until after midnight. Probably the worst super charger in America.

Line's always long. Waiting time always an hour or more. Don't buy a Tesla if you don't have to charge it at home or just relying on supercharger, it will consume your precious time.
