Do NOT USE this location for problems that arise . They have then absolute WORST service advisors. They apparently aren't trained at all or enough with how to interact with their Tesla customers. I have never felt so small, like a number , they don't give two $hits about you. This is my second Tesla in 7 years and I have NEVER had a positive experience here , ever ! You'd think when one's car had been worked on for over 10 hours you'd not only get it back cleaner than you dripped it off .. you definitely expect in the very LEAST an APOLOGY via face to face or phone call when you fine a rusted razor blade that was left inside my car. I had a truly disappointing experience with the Tesla Model 3 pickup at the Charlotte location which we arrived as scheduled and on time. Initially, I ordered the car in Raleigh but was required to pick it up in Charlotte, which was already an inconvenience but it's a Tesla and worth the 3 hour trip. When I arrived at the scheduled time, I found only one person inside handling everyone's pickup, while the rest of the Tesla staff seemed nonexistent, not helping as a team, or were nowhere to be found. I completed all the required tasks on my phone, but then waited nearly two additional hours for someone inside to release the car. Despite the long wait, nobody came out to install the license plate, so we had to do it ourselves. To make matters worse, no one presented any paperwork, including the required inspection paperwork or the N.C. vehicle registration record. As if that wasn't enough, the business ended up closing without providing any of the necessary paperwork, a charger adapter, or any other essential items. This dealership is very poorly run and managed. I strongly recommend buying and servicing your Tesla in Raleigh instead, as the Charlotte location is definitely not a place I, nor others based on their expressions, would recommend. read more

I bought a used Tesla from my sister and shortly after the 12V battery went on it. That would have been fine and an easy fix however dealing with this dealership for such a simple fix was absolutely horrendous. I called and spent over an hour and a half on hold waiting for someone to answer the phone in the service dept!!! This would never ever happen with Toyota or Honda!! You people need to step up your game over at Tesla or you will lose customers and continue to get BBB F rating. Unbelievable that this is acceptable to them. Their attitude was well it is Monday... seriously.. not to even answer the phone and acknowledge a customer holding?!!? What kind of operation are you running over there! Went here to express concerns about my cars computer malfunctioning and was basically treated like I was crazy. I've sense refused to go to this location and now drive 3 hours to Knoxville anytime I have a service appointment. Knoxville checked out my car and determined my computer was bad and needed replaced, keep in mind this was a genuine safety issue, the car would randomly and violently veer to the right with so much force it would jerk the steering wheel out of my hand. We've purchased two teslas from this dealership. Our first one in late 2019 and our second in the middle of 2020. The difference between the two experiences was night and day. About a month before we purchased, we drove 90 min to the dealership to just look because we didn't have an appointment to test drive one. We were lucky and there were about 4 sales people in the showroom that day. There was a Model X and a Model 3 in the showroom. We looked at both and were able to sit inside both to check out all the features. We ordered a Model 3 and when it was ready to be picked up my husband went to get it. He said they had several other owners picking up their new vehicles as well and they gathered them all together to show everyone the basics of using the key card and how to access certain features and adding profile info, etc. My husband said the experience was fantastic and he enjoyed getting to talk with other new owners at pick up. It made the whole process more exciting and definitely different than any other car purchase he's ever done. It was actually fun! Fast forward to our second purchase 6 months later(during the pandemic). July 2020, we arrive to pick up our new Model Y. We, along with many other people are all wandering around the lot looking for the correct VIN. Finally found ours and start looking for exterior flaws, any Due Bill notations that need to be addressed and any other items. A sales associate finally came over for a moment to acknowledge us and told us to go to a table outside to finalize the paperwork. After signing , we had our key cards and that was it. I had to chase down the associate to ask about the due bill items. I didn't want to leave the lot without this taken care of. They instructed me to make an appointment in the app for service and everything would be taken care of. Two weeks later I was back and they gave me a loaner vehicle while mine was in the shop for 3 weeks. I love both our Teslas and I will never buy a gas powered vehicle again. Tesla is far above the technology of other EVs at this time. That being said, could the Charlotte service center improve? Absolutely! They need to bring back the experience they had for customers before the pandemic. Fully staffed and have an open showroom for people to check out the vehicles. The hands off app only approach is cold and when you're dropping this kind of money on a vehicle you need a little more personal experience. Do better. read more

Worst new car experience I've ever had. They have everyone picking up a new car show up on one day and create a long assembly line process. After checking in and waiting someone finally took us to the new car to inspect it. It was so filthy trying to inspect for damage was nearly impossible. We did notice a cracked headlight which we pointed out to the employee when he returned from checking on all the other people he was handling at the same time. He told us we needed to open a ticket to have the headlight repaired, more on this later. The car had no charge and we were directed to a nearby supercharger to be able to get the car home. We noticed after driving it that the car would make a groaning noise while turning and people on the other end of the line could not hear us well when making calls. We opened a ticket for all 3 issues and were told to log troublesome phone calls while waiting for the service date. They would address the steering noise and phone but because the employee didn't document the headlight damage at pickup we would have to pay $2600 to fix it even though we provided a photo of the damaged headlight taken at pickup still in front of their building. At the service visit they adjusted the trim around the steering column to eliminate the noise. We made a test phone call with them so they could hear the phone call problem and were told they would swap the microphone out and to give them 15 minutes and they'd tell us how long it would take. After 15 minutes they came back and told my spouse it was a software issue but provided no documentation. After relaying this experience in the service review in the app we were contacted and told they would replace the light and look into the microphone. Upon arriving after another 1.5 hour drive from our house and dropping the car off they came and told us they only had one spare headlight that was also damaged and told us to pick which damaged headlight we wanted to place back in the car. I let them know they needed to put one back in and then set up a mobile repair so that they can come to us next time instead of us making the 3 hour round trip plus sitting on their waiting room for hours. I will follow up once I find out if we can actually make a phone call in this car finally. We set up a mobile appointment to get the headlight fixed once and for all; they have now canceled twice in a row the morning of the appointment. That's literally 3 strikes on getting the headlight fixed. I'll update again... read more

Cars are good! However Tesla Dealer and Service network are beyond awful. Here is my experience trying to buy a second Tesla. A) Scheduled an overnight Model 3 Performance test drive a week in advance in person at the dealer. Returned the following Saturday at 6:30p as requested to pickup the Model 3 Performance. When I arrived they told me they don't have a Model 3 Performance available and they had the audacity to tell me it must be another dealer I booked with. Recall I booked this in person at the dealer. B) Then once I decided on what I wanted to purchase I spent a WEEK trying to get them to send me the Master Vehicle Purchase Agreement (MVPA). After multiple messages in app and phone calls since Monday trying to get it....they send it on the weekend when my bank is closed....this led to a vehicle pickup delay that could have been avoided by simply responding to my earlier request. C) Someone backed in to my wife's Tesla so we took it to Tesla Collision. They obviously failed to align the car and are now refusing to pay for the alignment they missed when it was there for 2 weeks!!!! D) good luck getting a Tesla Service appointment within 30 days....service is always backed up and not open on the weekends when most are off work. Honestly we're moving on to Rivian or Lucid in next couple years as we rotate our cars again. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Their customer service during our delivery was excellent. They took their time to explain all the details of the car to my mom to make sure she was comfortable with her new spaceship of a car. My complaints are with Tesla as a whole and not this location (hence the five stars). For starters they don't have inventory in the show room for Model S or Model X. I was only there for a pick up (more on that later), but I can only imagine how frustrating that is for potential customers who want to check out these models. Second, this is the closest location to my mother--two hours away. "Taking delivery" really meant driving two hours to drive a car that is quite the adjustment to get used to then driving it two hours home. I would give a 0 if I could. I have model 3 since May, and have my cruise control only working maybe 500 miles of my 8000 miles riding it. There's always a calibration issue that makes the car not able to use the cruise control. We are talking about a 2023 vehicle without cruise control, a basic speed set. You need to be on your pedal 100% time on high way. I went to the service twice (each with a one month visit), and was told it is not serviceable. This needs a new firmware from Tesla. Outstanding customer service!!! I had no wait time! I arrive a little after 3 PM.I was there to deliver a check however, I advise them my frunk would alert to open when the car was in the hot weather but was indeed not opened. He immediately put in a service call to see if they could fix it by computer. However, it was a recall, and he scheduled a visit for me to come in. During this same visit I advised him my voice command or volume did not work however, by time I departed at 4:10 PM. The issue was resolved. Thank you Tesla staff!!!!!! read more

i love my car but the service center/dealership has horrible customer service. First of all appointments are set up through the app. My appointment was about a month out. I tried to see if i could come earlier but whoever is answering the chat suggested i go to Raleigh, no negotiations. When i finally arrived the service was horrible, the man sent me to the back to wait for someone to help. No explanation before or after about what was going on with my car. I just had to approve and pay for the charges through the app. When i came to pick up my car, the guy actually had the nerve to tell me to use my gps in the app to find my car in the parking lot. Like it was a big inconvenience to tell me where you parked. I'm use to betty experiences at dealerships. Snacks and coffee in the waiting area, washing my car, maybe a little charge... NADA! Made the appointment weeks ahead drove 2 hrs to have my vehicle serviced just to be neglected for a full 12hrs from 845am to 9pm. They left my vehicle idle for 9hrs before they even looked at it. The only problem with owning a Tesla is dealing with anything that requires TESLA's assistance. It has been an absolute nightmare every time. Financing over The phone, never getting called Back, missing small parts that do matter & never being able To get them, 20 minute waits just to speak with service department, and just never getting called back. It's Been so rough we are returning our new Tesla to prevent having to deal with this location & Tesla customer service in general if ANYTHING were to occur. Picked up Our Tesla Model3 Performance last Wednesday and the process went smooth and quick. They showed us how to operate everything and we were off. OFF IS INSANE, these cars destroy the gas equivalent in Fun, quietness , and direct control . Like driving an r/c car that goes. 0-60 in 3 seconds. Light years ahead of everything else, and will not look back at gas cars . Cost to operate is a fraction of my high speed gas guzzler past equivalents. I took delivery of my brand new Tesla Model 3 Performance in red on February 11, 2022. I immediately took it from the dealership to a local shop to have it fully wrapped in protective film to preserve the paint. I hand wash it weekly from top to bottom, so I'm very familiar with the condition of my vehicle. I say all this to make it clear that I'm well aware of and take great care of my car. That said, a bulge began to develop in the driver side front and rear tire (as well as a loose stitch that was discovered from the factory in the rear seat) about 5 days ago. They bumped my appointment up to today (from about a week from today). This morning, I pull up to the shop today at 8:54AM and there's little direction or organization for customer flow. I pulled into the service garage, assuming that's where I'm to go, and I parked and stood for about 10 minutes before realizing the 3 folks sitting behind the desk in the next room were who I was supposed to go talk to, I assumed they'd waive me in, but they appeared busy at their desks, all good. I walked in and waited to be called. After a few minutes, the service advisor calls me over and verifies the details of my service concerns, then says, "The stitch will be no problem, we will fix that for free. The tires will be $920+ tax, head around the corner to the waiting room and it'll be about an hour and a half." I said, "Hang on a second, I paid over $60k (even before adding the $12k self driving) for this car back on February 11th, exactly 3 months ago to the date and I'm coming out of pocket for tires? Does this mean the life expectancy of the $460/ea tires is roughly 90 days?" He says, "Hard to say, but the sidewall on those tires is very short because they are 20 inch rims, and when you hit a pothole, it can move the belts in the side wall and cause air to leak and form a bulge" I replied, "I totally understand that, but if we are saying the side wall is so short, and that it would need to be a substantial hit on a pothole to cause that, why is there no rim damage at all?" He takes me out to the car to point out the rim damage, I told him that's residue from the stickers Tesla left on the tire/rim at delivery 90 days prior, when he rubbed it to "prove me wrong", it came off (as adhesive does), revealing no rim damage. Yet he still stood by his original claim that it's my fault and I need to pay $920+tax for tires just 90 days after purchasing brand new. I understand a service advisor only has so much authority, so I head to the waiting room as they take the car back. As I sit and watch the Tesla branding film in the waiting room, I see the model Y with the same 20 inch Uberturbine wheels off-roading to a campsite through rocks, gravel, and water, and it completely contradicts what I was just told.... The commercial in Tesla service waiting room shows a Tesla with the same 20 inch (21in I believe for model Y) "Uberturbine" wheels ( and therefor, same short sidewall tires) off-roading. When I asked their Service Department Manager, Cody, why they would show a misleading commercial in the waiting room of a Tesla with the same rims and tires high speed off-roading, when you're telling me my car hitting a pothole that wasn't "bad enough" to damage the rim but "bad enough" to bulge the sidewall of the tire....he said (direct quote), "That's your opinion" and smiles at me silently. Clearly a basic understanding of "opinion" has not been set in Cody's mind. My opinion is that Cody is a condescending troll using linguistic acrobatics to avoid accountability for looking contradictory, that's an opinion. A fact would be that this video is playing live in the Matthews Tesla waiting room with cars off-roading on the same 20 inch Uberturbine wheels/tires for all to see, that's a fact no matter how you attempt to bend it. I walked away from the conversation, realizing he wasn't there to understand the customer perspective, the frustration with paying a lot of money for a car and it needing new tires in 90 days, and having a brand not care enough about its new customer to make it right. I didn't want free tires, I simply wanted some understanding and someone to work with me as a partner not a 5'4" twitter troll trying to cleverly quip back to a paying customer. I made a big mistake in purchasing this car without looking at the reviews of the local service center, there's a reason the Matthews Tesla Service Center has rough ratings, and it starts with management. Tesla/Elon, do yourself and your customers a favor and put someone in who is both an advocate for the brand and business as well as the customers who support it, Cody is certainly not that person. read more

Absolutely horrible service. One person working on the lot said they had model x cars to drive and I should be able to drive one in no time if I call into the office. I followed the instructions and was asked if I was buying one now. I stated it would be January which is like one week away. He did they really needed to focus on serious buyers. So a week or two makes a difference if I was a serious buyer. I told him that I had my wife there and that's rare and I needed her to see it.
