I had a very frustrating experience with this dealership while my Polestar 2 (2024, leased, less than 2 years old) was in for repair. My car was brought to the dealership on March 23rd, and what was supposed to be a 6-hour repair turned into over a month without my vehicle. From the very beginning, communication was poor. I did not receive any proper documentation or a video inspection--only a basic text message describing the damage and cost. Phone calls were rarely answered, and getting updates required repeated follow-ups on my end. It took over a week just to receive three photos, and even those were only sent after multiple requests. I filed an insurance claim on April 10th, but as of April 23rd, the dealership had still not responded to my insurance company's emails or calls. This significantly delayed the process. I also have a full-time job, and despite that, I had to visit the dealership in person multiple times because they were not answering phone calls. Unfortunately, these visits did not resolve anything and only added to the frustration. When I visited in person on April 22nd, the service manager, T.J. Burleson, claimed that someone from my insurance had already come to inspect the vehicle. However, when I contacted my insurance afterward, they confirmed that no one had inspected the car because the dealership was not responding to them. Later, when I raised concerns about the missing report and delays, T.J. dismissed the issue by saying: "Eventually you got it right? And it is in the past." There was zero apology for not providing the required documentation in the first place. In reality, it's clear that the poor communication is not "in the past"--it is ongoing. At the time she made that statement, there had still been no insurance inspection due to the dealership's lack of response. I was also given conflicting information about a loaner car--one advisor said they would provide one when available, while the service manager stated they would not provide one because the repair was not covered. As a result, I was left without a car for an extended period. Overall, this experience was marked by: Lack of communication and transparency Failure to respond to insurance inquiries Conflicting and inaccurate information Excessive delays for a minor repair Poor customer service and unprofessional behavior I truly enjoyed my car before this, but this service experience has been extremely disappointing. Last year we were looking for a new car and went to several different car dealerships, and let me say that the service here was top notch. The sales people were very friendly as well as everyone else. We ended up buying our vehicle from them (which was such an easy experience as well) and have been in for some maintenance (needed something changed out) and will be going back in a few weeks for our year checkup. very disappointed with their service. they've had our xc90 for over a month because they ran across a broken bolt in the vehicle's exhaust manifold. With a little knowledge and proper equipment (which you would assume they have everything) this could've been addressed in a short period of time, not over a month... This is ridiculous knowing that this is a VOLVO dealership and service location, not a standard mechanic shop... They also never return calls if you leave a voicemail in the service department's answer machine or when they promise to call back to provide additional information. Your new Volvo you buy will depreciate insanely. Dealership doesn't stand behind you or the brand, I bought a NEW 2021 (end of year) Volvo XC60 Inscription from University Volvo, to which had issues from day one. Brought in for issues with wiper blades not working and smearing both before and after I had the car done in paint protections film, and ceramic. Where I was blamed for the wipers smearing due to ceramic. After they replaced them the first time was charged, while they never work. What's funny is the same ceramic is on all my other cars and guess what no issues! Addionally, go check Volvo Instagram on it as there are many complaints on bad wiper blades. Ok so next was brakes, rotors only replaced never pads at approximately, 2,000 miles, 7,000 miles, 12,000 miles, and SUV is now at 15,000 miles and still pulsate. I was told by them it's first due to my driving on highway, then told by a tech that it's actually due to cheap rotors and steal used... Well, also have had suspension issues, from start with vibration at 70+ mph, I was also told this is due to me driving to fast, then it's my fault for having the 20" rims that Volvo had on the SUV. Vibration has been there since new. Later turned out front suspension has issues, that also never get fixed. Shock absorber and bearing found after I had to come back on a weekend to show a tech. What makes it even better this is not first time I had to teach a tech to do there job to diagnose multiple times. No way they drove it, to test drive it or would have heard the pop of thr shock absorber and bearing. After again giving me the SUV back saying its fixed, still unsafe and broken. Then told them again after now picking up third time as they needed their loaner car back that its set still pops. They care more about having the loaner back then fixing a car that is unsafe. Due to being constantly lied to on them fixing it and been 2 years of back and forth, and at 15,000 miles to now have all of these issues that a car at 100,000 should run into, I took my huge hit and lost a ton of money to trade into a real car. I have no time to keep taking this thing into shop monthly or sometimes back in same week, or every other week. To also add, had multiple interior parts go bad, door handle chrome falling off, button for stereo just cracked touching it, slider for cup holders would not stay, etc. Honestly for how many times a new car I that I bought from them goes into the shop, its a tragedy and even lied to when both Volvo corporation and University Volvo both ignore and do nothing. Best of all the treatment is as if your the problem. Again, my advice, run go to another brand and dealership as they won't care and low ball you on trade to jack up price and make money off your loss. Run! Run somewhere else! If your reading this and avoid this place you just saved yourself a headache and thousands of dollars... actually tens of thousands. read more

We brought our Volvo here last year and decided to never get a Volvo service done again. We brought it in and it took them three weeks to even look at it and service it. After calling and calling we finally drove down there to get some answers. Tonya and Andrew were so rude and unknowingly were talking to one another about our service while my husband was standing there. He was not known to them and listen to them bad mouth our concerns and their lack of service.I used to go to them for years prior and will travel to any other Volvo before returning to them. We moved down here and University Volvo is the closest Volvo to us, I called Wednesday last week (it is now Tuesday) and the older lady who answered in the service dept was the first red flag. I was calling to inquire about work my car needed done, the supposedly took a message and was going to have a service tech call me back. End of day Friday, nothing yet. So i called back. Same rude old lady answered the phone, her first response when I asked when would I hear back was "well did you call us back w your vin number?" Mam I gave you the damn vin number when I initially called Wednesday! I am VERY meticulous with how I maintain my cars, but I also like value. This is in conflict many times when I go to purchase a car, as I struggle with whether I should go new or used. The last two cars I purchased were brand new and going that route again was my intention when I was heading into getting my next vehicle. I realized that with today's proliferation of leases you could find a good used (or gently used as they say) vehicle. Selection - The selection at University Volvo was decent and is what persuaded me to consider buying used. They have a lot of previously leased Volvos on their lot and with easy access to the CarFax Report from their website, you can quickly get a glimpse into the history of the car to help you with your buying decision. Sales - My sales agent, AJ Varricjione, was great. Unlike your stereotypical car salesperson, he was not pushy and made the process of purchasing the car very easy. From the test drive, to negotiation, to closing the deal...I felt I was being treated fair and honestly. Service - Since purchasing the car, I have only had one service item and it was an issue with a tire. This issue was quickly rectified by the service department to my satisfaction. They even provided a loaner vehicle while the issue was fixed. My only complaint was that service did something I asked not to be done and that was wash the car through the automated car wash. Something you shouldn't do with a black painted car unless you like faint scratches all over it (refer to the 1st sentence of my review). After some elbow grease and my orbital buffer, I had it shining again. Overall - I would recommend buying a car here. Worst dealership service I've ever had in my lifetime. I would not recommend anyone to ever spend their money at this dealer. No employee within the business would hardly look at us. I moved to NC about 4 years ago with a C30. I chose this dealership over the one in Charlotte due to this one being closer to my home in Lake Norman. I gave had all kinds if work done with UV and they are not perfect by any means but by far from the worst. The service reps have always been nice and courteous when I have self with them. Although I'm not a big fan if the service manager, as dealing with her had actually gotten me no where, I ended up getting my issue resolved with the service reps help. Most of the service I have had done here has never been a problem and met or exceeded my expectations. Even warranty work I had done here was done perfect and without any hassel or questions. I will say that at times it can be difficult to get an appointment and walk ins can be frustrating but they have always tried to accommodate me. do not spend your hard earned money here unless you want lousy repairs made, sass from the service representatives, and huge labor cost. brought my vehicle in for emergency service. was told the wait would be over 4 days due to mechanics quitting! are you kidding me? once the shoddy repair was made, a new major problem was created so i bring me vehicle back so they can fix it right, and am greeted with "i'll see if we have time for this" from the service representative. what a joke. worst part is my vehicle afterward still had a problem! you do not pay hundreds of dollars for less than perfect service. for the amount of money spent on 1 repair, you could buy yourself a brand new bicycle and be much happier. i ended up taking my vehicle to my trusted import mechanic in greensboro, where the problem was finally fixed the right way. in the end, do not trust this dealer--this is one of the worst volvo dealerships i've seen and i have seen many. read more

I haggled a bit and the sales staff was professional and courteous. * I had to have routine/preventive maintenance done from time to time, and I was always given a loaner car and the work was always done on time. We,my wife that is, has owned many Volvos, 4 in total two 850 T5s and two wagons one was a T5 purchased new and her current vehicle which is a 2008 V70 3.2 liter. Myself, well I am a Jaguar nut always have been and always will be I have three classics sitting in my garage. Had I not been a Jaguar nut then I would own a Volvo as they are the best. University Volvo has taken care of two of her Volvos one of which was purchased there. Their service staff including the service writers service technicians and TJ the service manager are second to none. My wife is treated royally with professionalism courtesy, respect and understanding, how many dealers do you know that will, treat a woman like that? In my experience spanning a period of 15 years I have found University Volvo to be honest, diligent and full of integrity, I have found no reason to take our Volvo to my independent Jaguar Mechanic who also works on Volvos. What's important in life is PEOPLE and University Volvo has one of the best teams I know of for working on a Volvo that I have come across,.We have enjoyed building a strong Dealer/customer relationship with University Volvo over the years and will continue to do so. Preventive Maintenance regular oil and fluid changes are the key to a reliable good running car she now has over 158,000 miles on her V70 and it still drives like it just came out of the showroom Whenever I read a bad review of a company, especially car dealerships I cannot help but wonder how the customer interacted with and treated the service or sales department. I am new to North Carolina and was hesitant to take my car here for service due to the bad reviews but I quickly came to see that they weren't true. When I arrived, I was greeted by my Advisor Arthur Mills who listened to my concerns about my car and told me they would all be taken care of. He was very professional, nice, checked me in right away, and kept me up-to-date on what was happening with my car.
