Great food, great service, full bar, and many wines to choose from. Would give a very strong recommend.

Did a web search for a Charlevoix eatery and landed on Terry's Place. A wintry nasty February Thursday evening, so we decided to arrive for an early dinner. Got there about 4:45. You know that disconcerting feeling when you walk into a restaurant for the first time and there is NOBODY there? We were the only ones there. Boy, were our initial fears unfounded. We were cheerfully met by a gracious hostess. Ordered my customary Dewar's on the rocks, and was rewarded with a cocktail that rivaled a stiff one that I would pour myself at home! My wife ordered the "3 for 30" combo...a wonderful bowl of French onion soup, a salad, and a delicious roast duckling entree, and pre-ordered the chocolate souffle dessert to allow preparation time. I ordered the special whitefish entree with shallots, sun-dried tomatoes, etc. Both entrees were accompanied by fresh green beans and our selected potato- homemade hash browns, which were outstanding! Everything was spectacular! The rolls were too warm to touch, the plates were hot, the atmosphere on a winter evening was cozy. And the souffle at the end was great. Finally- other guests began arriving and our private dining room became alive with other happy diners. The only criticism was that the tossed salad was pretty average- compared to how great everything else was. Now we have a problem. Next time we go to Charlevoix for dinner, we worry we will not want to try any place else! read more

All I can say is WoW! We're sailing through the Great Lakes east and stopped in this charming town of Charlevoix, checked out Yelp and Terry's was a quick walk from the marina. Absolutely extraordinary! If I didn't have good manners I would have licked the plate of that creamy morel sauce over those fantastic mushroom ravioli - I could eat a few plates of them! The salad was super crunchy and delicious with balsamic dressing and blue cheese sprinkles, and the special was a whitefish sautéed with a light tomato sauce and topped with nicely cooked fresh plump shrimp. I had stewed tomatos as a side which was also quite relish! You can't go wrong choosing this lovely place! read more

Absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back. I will be dreaming about the mushroom ravioli until I can make it back again. The whitefish with lemon sauce was perfectly cooked and the sauce was incredible. Service was outstanding. I am a big water drinker and yet my water almost never was empty and if it was it was refilled within a minute. read more

Terry's Place - American Near Me - Charlevoix, Michigan

Great food! Husband and I had escargot and french onion soup to start. Cheese was nicely colored and melted on the soup, flavor rich and delish. The escargot was perfect amount of garlic and butter. Yummy! I had whitefish with a lemon caper sauce...awesome. The serving size was huge. Pan sauted perfectly with green beans and I chose a sweet potato. Perch with a butter sauce for him and he loved it. He had a baked potato. Chocolate mouse for dessert and we left full, satisfied and impressed. read more

Fabulous dinner. Had the wild mushroom ravioli with morel cream sauce & the whitefish in lemon butter with artichoke hearts & crab meat. Restaurant is tastefully decorated with actual white cloth napkins, to give you an idea how out of the ordinary for the area it is. A jewel in the north woods. read more

Another website rated Terry's the number 1 Charlevoix restaurant & the Weathervane 2nd. If so, it's a very, very distant second. The 1st thing that stands out at Terry's is the experienced professional greeting & wait staff...no immature kids working their 1st summer job here. The 2nd thing you notice is that Terry's is where the upper crust gather, knowing everyone in the place on a 1st name basis. We had no wait at Weathervane...at Terry's we felt the one hour wait was well worth it . The food is pricey but so is Weathervane's...the difference is at Terry's you feel it's worth it.. read more

Food was outstanding. I had the Perch Almondine whish was supurb. Not a large place and a bit crowded. Most of the patrons seemed to have been there many times before. Service was so so. The food is the star that keeps bringing them back. read more

After researching seafood options in the area we settled on Terry's Place. The reviews were universally glowing and we were in the mood for fish. The wait was one hour when we arrived, time we spent walking bridge street. The wait was worthwhile. The service was very attentive and warm and the food was great. We ordered one of just about all the appetizers, the favorite was the mushroom ravioli. We all ordered a fish entree. The fish was fresh, flaky, and delightful. The only bit of disappointment was that the soufflé is not available in the summer months. We'll have to come back in the fall or spring to try it. Definitely the best seafood restaurant in the area we've tried. read more

Despite the raving reviews I was not impressed with the incompetence of the wait staff and the management. You see I called to see if there would be a problem with seating for 4 people, the women on the phone said no, she asked me when we would be there and I said about 10 minuets. So we walked in the restaurant less than 10 minuets later and they treated my party and I like we were second class citizens, saying there was no room and we would have to wait 25 minuets or more. I told them I had called 10 minuets before and the only thing I got in return was a blank stare. After a 5 minuet phone call with the manager after I left I was even more unimpressed than I was before. I am sure this never happens and based on the reviews it sounds like the restaurant has a clean record, and it's too bad because I was really looking forward to eating there. Hopefully in the future I will have a chance to eat there, but for now I am only left with a bad memory. Thanks for reading. read more

Great service. The beef filet was outstanding with the chef special bleu cheese steak sauce and stewed tomatoes on the side. It was a huge 10 oz portion. Make sure you're hungry when you go. Definitely would go back. read more

Terry's is a great little restaurant in downtown Charlevoix. We had a delicious meal and great service. Great lakes fish comprise half of the menu. The atmosphere is dated, but quaint. Definitely recommend dining there! read more

My wife and I had our first dinner at Terry's. The baked Idaho potatoes came out undercooked and hard in the center. My Filet Mignon, ordered medium rare, arrived rare. I sent it back to be cooked more. For the prices they charge, you would think they could cook things right the first time. I must say though that the service was excellent. read more

It was nothing impressive but it at least had a good atmosphere. I felt my fish was a bit too oily and buttery.. I wish i could have had just a simple grilled fish but that was not an option. Glad I ordered a glass of white wine with it, that certainly helped the dish be more appetizing. read more

Found this restaurant online while returning from the Chicago Mac Race. The service was excellent. Our server, Renee, was amazing. She has worked there for 20 years and knows the menu. This says a lot for the caliber of this restaurant. The food was gourmet and well presented. Fish is flown in daily. The whitefish special in a buerre blanc sauce with capers, tomatoes and artichoke was fresh, and perfectly cooked. The house hash browns were crispy with caramelized onions. Before dinner we received hot rolls with a red pepper purée with basil, olive oil, etc. excellent. Entree came with green beans that were cooked al dente and choice of potato. Also had a 10 oz Filet in a peppercorn sauce (like a Marsala) that was delicious. Dessert choices were abundant but we chose the raspberry creme brûlée and the French vanilla ice cream ball coated with a chocolate, toffee, nuts hard shell. Both delicious. Our friend from Miami whole loves fine dining was very impressed with the flavors! Thank you Renee for making our culinary experience in Charlevoix worth The visit.
