While we enjoyed the views, food was ok and services not up to par. Kid's burger and bloody mary were the only 2 things we liked. My shrimp scampi was not fresh, the red royal gulf shrimp had a strong near rotten taste but still edible so I just ate and didn't say anything. Our server came out with the bill but didn't give us a pen but luckily I had one in my purse so we didn't have to wait for him to make his way back. Only thing I liked was the view. I don't normally give bad reviews unless it's bad or for cheaper price but for this restaurant I expected foods at least fresh and better. For reference, with tips we paid a bit over $189.00 for lunch for 3 kids and 2 adults. I give a 3 just because the views and foods were picture perfect. read more

This place is located on the backside of the mountain right on the beach. Nice outdoor patio that overlooks the water. Simple menu filled with delicious choices. The chicken was simple yet very juicy and tasty. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The place is a touch pricey but I don't think you will be disappointed. ALL of the staff was super friendly and very tentative. They make you feel like your family. I would suggest this place as long as your ok with the price. read more

Worst service EVER from a restaurant- and we didn't even eat there! We made reservations weeks in advance, via the restaurant's website, for a special occasion for which we had out of town visitors joining us. We had purposely planned ahead as this is the busiest week of the year in this area. 2 days before our planned dinner we received a text saying our reservation had been cancelled, with no explanation. When we called they said 'sorry, we are really busy that night, we have a golfing event'. Barely apologetic, leaving us with nowhere to take our guests given that no reservations are available anywhere in this region on such short notice. They completely screwed up, left us in a bind, and made no attempt whatsoever to try and make it right. Shockingly unprofessional. Needless to say, we will never go there, and will recommend the same to others. read more

Excellent food not so good service. Our waitress was non existent. Fortunately the was an excellent one that took care of a mistaken drink. She got us the correct one checked in to make sure it was good. She received the other half of the tip. The fastest our waitress was at our table was to take the check. Not even the empty waters were ever filled. The bus girl was good too She swung by to take up the piling plates . Called ahead to inform them it ismy wife's birthday dinner . Nothing on that either. The waitress and manager were very accomadating and helpful. However, when our food arrived we were less than impressed. We were a family of six and sat outside on a semi-busy night at 6:30. We ordered mainly hambugers with fries and a couple had salads. Unfortunately all the burgers were just warm and the fries soggy and also luke warm. We did not complain realizing the current manpower issues in the industry, but it bothered me to pay over $200 for this diappointing meal. Boyne does better in other restaurants. My wife & Great Niece & I checked with the Hostess after a golf tournament at the Monument Golf course across the street from the restaurant. The Hostess was very welcoming & seated us quickly, even though we didn't have a reservation. The wait staff was excellent & the food was tremendous. This had to have been the rudest interaction I have ever had at a restaurant. Our server Tim was extremely rude. We had a group of 14 people over $750 bill. Automatic 20% gratuity which would have been fine is the service was even average. 30 minutes for drinks, he scoffed at every request or question. One of us had some rubber substance IN the burger. No sympathy or apology AND kept the burger on out bill. When we asked to have the 20% taken off to adjust it accordingly we were told no. I will never come here again. 0/10 read more

I highly recommend this lovely restaurant for several reasons! To begin, it is right on Deer Lake so the scenery on the outdoor patio is absolutely beautiful. When I went, it was during the sunset which made the experience 10x better. I went on a Friday night and they typically have live music which was very nice while we ate. They have a huge parking lot, which was nice to find a parking spot on such a busy night. The service was also great! I have absolutely zero complaints for my experience here. On top of great service, parking, and scenery, the restaurant has a cute little beach area that extends from their back patio straight into Deer Lake with beach chairs, a fire pit, and a dock. And of course, the food. My meal was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the special of the night, which was a rib and morel mushroom filled ravioli with morel buttered sauce. My family ordered their steak which was also delightful. I would advise ordering the calamari for the appetizer, very large for a bigger party and delicious! It's been years since I've dined here and it was a great experience. Came in with a large group of ladies after golfing. Beautiful views lakeside to Deer Lake make outside dining extra special. Indoor dining is clean, but feels dated, however fits the Bavarian style of the rest of the surrounding resort. I enjoyed a burrata tomato salad and it was excellent. I ordered a side protein of salmon which was over cooked for my liking but they were quick to remedy. House salad of greens and watermelon was raves about by another gal pal, and the perch dinner was also excellent. Truffle fries were another favorite. When you first arrive, the exterior is really appealing, with the vines growing alongside the walls and a wonderful view of the lake in the back. The service, however, is... interesting. I came with a group of my close friends to celebrate, of which we had a reservation set, and prior to even sitting down, we declared that we preferred to having our checks split. I preface this, as it's an important part of the story later. Our food server was all over the place and clearly agitated to begin with - mind you all, that the dining room was very empty albeit a couple of occupied tables with a few guests each. Every attempt to ask a question was met with an exasperated expression and a quick turn back into the kitchen before there was any confirmation that the rest of the table was okay. As for our food's arrival, it was relatively quick, but the quality was mediocre, but edible. Whatever. But this is where the whole experience really went downhill: taking over an hour to get our bill. Remember, we requested separate bills at the beginning, so why it took an hour to get our bills is still a mystery. No apologies, no update as to what was going on. So I ask to speak with a manager, and was met with excuses that their system is "super slow" with trying to run cards. Umm.. we didn't even have our bills. What cards are being ran? So that means our bills were not even being printed at this point. Really? Within about 10-15 min, they FINALLY came, but at the point of hilarity, things are all over the place, on the wrong ticket, me getting two receipts stapled together. This is a restaurant located at an incredibly busy and prominent resort - the level of inefficiency was astounding and most definitely DO NOT recommend this establishment! read more

The pizza was poorly prepared and tasted like it came from a grocery store freezer aisle. Service was ok but I would not recommend anything on the menu if it was anything like what I ate and my friend said his chicken salad didn't taste good either so I'd say you guys need to taste over your menu one day and see what needs to be worked on because I was very dissatisfied! read more

Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. We sat on the patio, the inside seemed quite old, the table setting looked nice though. For an appetizer we had the crab cakes. They had pretty good taste, not much texture, kinda mushy. For dinner we had some thin pizzas, 4 cheese and pollo blanco. They were very flavorful. Very thin and crispy (as it should be i guess). Overall it was a good experience. The food was good, the seating and decor really needs an update, we would come back, especially for the view. read more

Visited with my grown children, grand-kids and wife. While the server was very friendly and took time to talk with and entertain the children, the rest of the experience was terrible! The kids portions were ridiculous. The Mac N Cheese appeared to be maybe 1.5 tablespoons worth and the Ravioli was 4 small pieces. No bread, nothing else. The Beach House has so much potential, it is really a shame that it is so bad. The potential comes from it's perfect location set on Deer Lake, and it's generous size inside and patio outside. Unfortunately, the service was slow and unfriendly, there was a bee infestation next to our indoor table, the bathroom was a filthy train wreck, and the food was average at best. I ordered a personal pizza, and it had a nice crust on it, but the inside was too thin with too much cheese and grease and no flavor from the sauce. My wife had a pasta dish and mentioned that it also lacked flavor and was dry. My kids fruit bowl came out with a nice coating of mold on the strawberries. When we informed the waitress, she just shrugged it off and didn't bother to bring us something else or take it off the bill. She didn't even apologize! The decor inside is retro 1970's faux German (think burgundy leather chairs, dark walls, medieval dungeon decor). This is a tourist trap restaurant through and through. If you are staying at Boyne Mountain, do yourself a favor and take the 10 minute drive to Boyne City where your dining options are better, including some truly 4-5 star restaurants with reasonable prices. Beautiful spot that is very poorly managed. The cocktails are unbalanced and very sugary, the salmon was over cooked and tasted off, the service was rushed and our checks arrived an hour after we were finished with our meals, yet they were incorrect even though they were aware of the need for separate checks before we ordered. First time here and we loved this place! We dropped in for dinner after a round of golf. I had the lake perch and it was delicious. The vegetable of the day was a sautéed zucchini medley. This kind of thing at a restaurant is always terrible but this place cooked it exceptionally well! The vegetables were tender and delicious - so many places serve them practically raw. The setting was beautiful - loved the patio and the live music. Good wine list. They could have used another server on the patio - our poor waiter was running himself ragged.
