Great service and food tried the fried walleye. Plenty of beers to pick from. Many different dining rooms to pick from some patios.

Try to get a seat on the patio along the water... It was closed when we arrived. We sat outside in front of the restaurant since we had our pup with us and it was a bit busy with foot and vehicle traffic. The food was very good, we started with the Chubby Mary and the chowder. We tried the garlic Parmesan whitefish and the campfire whitefish for our entrees. Both were cooked extremely well, and were flaky and tender. Included sides were a very tasty coleslaw and fries. Service was very good and the food came out hot and quickly.

Whitefish taco with chips. (More of a wrap)

The location was great. It is right on the water so the view is great! Our server was great. The food was ok. I had the whitefish taco. It was bland and was sloppy to eat. It was really more of a wrap than a taco. It came with potato chips that I didn't eat because they were greasy. My hubby got a burger that was cooked to his liking but he said was only ok. He said his fries were excellent! It was a pricey lunch that wasn't worth the price.

The place is a whole vibe. Great view. Great service. I would skip the pomme frites (overpriced fries) and go straight to entrees like fried fish or campfire fish. Whitefish tacos were great. Love the postcard we got at the end of our meal.

Food was delicious. Whitefish pate, fried perch dinner. Nothing better in northern Michigan. Service was prompt and accommodating. Ambiance was super.

Off the charts cool rustic boating atmosphere... located in an idyllic fishing village of "FishTown" that looks like it was teleported from the 1800's. The place sits on the edge of and slightly over a dam/waterfall next to a short river next to Lake Michigan... The interior is filled with old nautical paraphernalia, rustic wood, super views of the water... it's hard to imagine how cool it is. They have great fish and chips. Several varieties of whitefish from the lake. We had the Waleye and loved it. Likely the best we have had ... period. The clam chowder was also up there with the "as good as it gets" grouping. You can sit in a room that's almost over the waterfall if you want... we did and loved the view. Service was excellent. Our waitress impressed us enough to prompt us to leave her a Benjamin.

The Cove, a respite from some of the touristy nature of Leland, with some outstanding dishes and views! Pros: Service Sadly cannot recall waiter's name, but he was amazing! A cool dude with a cool story. Very genuine. Wine selection The Cove understood the assignment! They reside in an area abundant with wineries, and delivered with local selections. The Leelanau Cellers Late Harvest Riesling was *chef's kiss* Dessert Did you even dine at The Cove if you don't have the Burnt Caramel Sea Salt Gelato? Absolute perfection. No notes. Order it and end your meal on cloud 9. Not so great: Though I am obsessed with the local whitefish, serving it only baked in foil style does it a disservice. Even the peppadews (which I love) couldn't save the Campfire Whitefish. Texture and flavor was meh. All in all, I'd dine at The Cove again definitely! But would pick a different main dish.

Absolutely amazing! Lucy was a great waitress! Food was amazing. I had the chicken ceaser salad as I'm not a fish fan and it was excellent. My husband had the whitefish New Orleans which was amazing! The pasta was in a cream sauce which was the perfect spice. I ate the pasta and it was amazing!

    Great views!

Great place. As good as advertised. First rate bloody mary. The seafood chowder is also fantastic. I had the mixed sampler of fried fish. Excellent. Even the coleslaw slaw!

Whitefish Fish and Chips- best I've ever had
    Carissa J.

Everything was great. Our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was wonderful. I would probably have to say the best fish and chips I've ever had...crispy, light breading, mild flaky whitefish inside, with delicious French fries on the side. I highly recommend!

Second time at the Cove with our rowing group. They are very gracious and accommodating our group of about 40 people. They gave us a back room and supplied separate checks which we were thankful for. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and their homemade cherry pie. Win-win on both. The soup was flavorful and not too thick and the warm cherry pie hit the spot afterwards.

Riverside was a favorite of ours when Kate owned it, and over the past few years we've kept coming back hoping to see the new owners develop a more consistent kitchen and, importantly, a menu with an identity of its own rather than one that sometimes felt like it was trying to emulate the best restaurants around the area. Last night delivered. The food was consistently good across the table--the chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection, the pasta was excellent, and the accompaniments felt thoughtful and well executed. And please, whatever you do, never get rid of the whipped mashed potatoes. Those have consistently been something Riverside does very well. The focaccia with corn was fabulous and butter with honey is way better than previous iterations of butter with olives??? Nobody wants that. Service got off to a very delayed start, but once our server found a rhythm, things got back on track and the rest of the evening flowed much better. It feels like Riverside is beginning to settle into what it wants to be rather than chasing something they're not, and that's encouraging to see. We've been waiting for that. Last night was the most confident and consistent the restaurant has felt in a while, and we're hopeful they keep heading in this direction.

We thought it was a great venu! This was our first time to Leland and wanted to check out the fishing bay area for what it's famous for. It was about 4:30, we walked up to the Cove restaurant and noticed a small line waiting and then I noticed a small staircase along the wall and walked down and there was Ricks Cafe'. It said seat yourself, so we did. Didn't think we were going to get any service anytime soon, within a couple of minutes a young lady appeared taking our order. Yes, it was a short menu but, the chicken sandwich with chips sounded pretty good. The sandwich was really good and the falls atmosphere were a pretty cool setting in this beat little fish harbor. We enjoyed watching people fish off the dock and some dude in a kayak trying his chances angling. We enjoyed it immensely and will be back next time in the area. As for the person who complained that there was limited tables for dogs...ITS A RESTAURANT for PEOPLE. I don't want to be near your mutt schlepping scraps off the floor. I really wish more restaurants would follow the Section 6-501.115 of the Michigan Food Code. No Pets allowed, only Service animals with credentials!

Unfortunately, the portion size vastly different- we all ordered a bowl of the seafood chowder and 3 out of 4 of us got a bowl filled barely half way, while the fourth was filled to the top. When we mentioned to the waitress she just kind of dismissed it. White fish Caesar salad was outstanding- smoked fish delicious and dressing tasted just right. If that's what you're looking for, you'll be pleased. But if you're looking for that old and faded in the best sense Bluebird vibe, you'll likely find the experience jarring. It's like they thought "what's the exact opposite of the old ambiance?" and then leaned hard into that. You feel like you're at any of 1,000 generic sports bars in anywhere, USA. The food was not the same either. Yes, they still have their whitefish, but it's a significantly smaller portion and the presentation was basically toss-it-on-a-plate-with-some-fries-and-call-it-good. Probably should have ordered the cheaper basket, because fine dining it ain't. The burger was a solid D. Ordered medium rare but it was a hammered well done, and anything other than meat on a bun now costs significantly extra. Adding on cheese and making it deluxe took a rather small burger up to near $20, which was more than the large pizza we also ordered. The pizza was good though, so if we ever went back, which we no longer plan to, we'd get that again. Cedar Tavern pizza still puts it to shame though, and since the rest of their food is much better and MUCH cheaper, it'll be a shorter boat trip for us. Most distressingly, they no longer have a salad bar, let alone any of the classic salads or cinnamon bread they used to serve. No peas and peanuts. No bowtie pasta salad. None of it. If she was still with us, my grandma would have mourned the loss of the peas and peanuts, let alone all the other changes. It seems like they know the food isn't really the draw anymore, because their website doesn't even suggest a menu - it's ALLLLL about the merch. Which they have a TON of. Including a line marketing themselves as a "yacht club." Which is funny because the old TC Yacht Club and the old Bluebird had a similar sort of vibe. The outdoor seating does have a nice perch over the Carp still though, and I would say that that is an improvement to the old setup. I'm sure visitors to Leland who never knew the old restaurant will find something to like (or at least a lot less to dislike). But I think everyone in our quite extended family have now tried it, and we're all in agreement about the new place: nice outdoor seating, higher prices, worse food and completely altered (for the worse) atmosphere.

We were at the kitchen counter and the head chef/owner talked to us a lot while he was at the pass finishing dishes. He was not overbearing, where it was annoying. He was very friendly. He asked a lot of questions and we returned the favor. He went around talking to other tables too. Besides him, the rest of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating, including the chefs doing the cooking! It was one of the best experiences I had in regard to the staff. I have included what I ate below. Everything was timed out well too. Our Bread ($8) - This was a cheddar bread with ranch butter. This was very good. It came out extremely warm. The ranch butter was light and paired perfectly with the soft inside and slight crisp on the outside of the bread. Cucumber ($16) - This came with salsa Macha, pickled jalapeno, and cilantro. This appeared extremely fresh. There was a slight kick from the jalapenos and/or salsa. It all went well together with one another. Ricotta Gnudi ($17) - This came with pea, basil, country ham, and Marcona almonds. The gnudi had an unreal texture. The almonds were a nice added touch for some crunch. I did not really think the ham was needed. Potato ($17) - This came in a brown-butter cheese sauce with shallots and pickled mushrooms. This was my favorite non dessert dish of the night. The cheese sauce was unreal with tons of flavors, while the pickled mushrooms combined with the crispy shallots made for a superb pairing. Fried Chicken ($16) - This came with two large chicken pieces with a white BBQ sauce. This was brined in Earl Grey tea. The skin was crispy as anything, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. It was moist with great color. The white BBQ sauce was one of the best sauces I had in a while. I do not have much experience with white BBQ sauces, but this was tremendous. The vinegar could really be tasted and paired well with the hot crispy skin of the chicken. Halibut ($47) - This came with white beans, chermoula, and black garlic. The halibut was cooked perfectly, and the chermoula was ideal with the slight crisp from the large beans. There was also a nice crunch from crispy brown rice it seemed like. Key Lime Pie ($16) - This was with a homemade graham crust, white chocolate, and a basil meringue. This was my favorite overall dish of the night. The crust was one of the best I ever had. It was so buttery and had a perfect thickness to the key lime filling. The little meringue pieces on top was an ideal topping. Will I go back? Obvious.
