I love that TBR is throwing awesome concerts and bringing music into the area! Fun shows and great people!

You MUST arrange your visit to coincide with one of the multiple daily tours. While the tour starts off showing you buildings on the ranch itself (the original house, the original barn, etc), it more than pays for itself when the tour bus (yes, BUS, a red, white, and blue mini-bus, to be exact) drives you out into the bison herd. The bison, knowing that the mini-bus means treats are coming, stampede over to greet you. Keep your eye on the horizon though, because tottering over on cow-sized legs are the herd's two beefalo. What is a beefalo, you ask? Well, the bison ranch is next to a longhorn cattle ranch. Buffalo and steer can both jump remarkable heights, especially with the promise of copulation on the other side of the fence. Ten months post-jump, a half-cow, half-buffalo is born. I will be living off memories of these two lovely beefalo for quite some time... Anyway, the tour continues past some camels, yaks, llamas, ostriches, and peacocks. Little known fact: Wyoming bans the captivity of "wild" animals, making zoos illegal. That's right, no zoos in Wyoming (or so said our tourguide - I did not seek external validation). Therefore, the Terry Bison Ranch has tried to assemble as diverse a group of animals as possible under the legal restrictions so as to serve as a "zoo lite" for the local community. The restaurant on the ranch was closed for the season (it was early November) so I can't comment on that, but the Beefalo alone ensure that I'll be back at Terry Bison Ranch whenever I'm next in Cheyenne! read more

What a great spot to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. What an experience as I've always been enamored with the American Buffalo / Bison and so thankful that ranching them has brought them back and hopefully the continued sharing of the gene pool brings them back to there full majestic size they were in the wild. I've always wished to see them in the wild at Yellowstone but this was a great idea from my daughter from the Denver area for us to have on our to do list. I'll visit again. read more

They could do so much better! Maybe we came in after the dinner rush, but they were out of almost everything that we wanted. The chicken sandwich was like a hockey puck, salad bar wasn't maintained, soup was cold, rocky mountain oysters were tough, my Bison steak was average at best. Would be better off going to Texas Roadhouse if you want better food, but if your looking for something other than a chain and a bit different with a background story you might enjoy. Definatley has potential, but not quite there yet. read more

If you are anywhere near, it is absolutely worth the drive! We came in early in the morning from Fort Collins so we could go on the 9AM train ride. For only $14 per adult (as of April 2018) you get to ride the train and see the wildlife and feed the bison. Absolutely worth it, we'd never been that close to bison and they were friendly and even let you pet their snout. Our guide shared stories about each of the bison and it was great to hear about their personalities. I definitely recommend coming by, you won't regret it. read more

Came here to eat Easter dinner with my colleagues, and I decided to order the bison bbq ribs instead of the bison burger. The 1/2 pound ribs looked more like a pound. It came with fresh green beans, mash potatoes with mushroom gravy, and toast. Our waiter Kelly was very courteous and attentive to our needs. Oh ya, and the meal, was delucious!!!! The ribs came off the bone easily and was tender. The sauce was sweet and a little bit of tanginess. Just the way I like it. I highly recommended this place when traveling through, or staying in Cheyenne. read more

The place is big! Camp sites are a little small. Bison train ride is very fun. Lots of animals to see. Restaurant has good food in an interesting atmosphere. Big negative. No recycling. Everything gets tossed into the trash. It also looks like upkeep of all areas is being neglected. Some people working there were friendly, some were grouchy. Right next to interstate so there is moderate traffic noise in an on going basis. Stay a day, do the Bison train ride, move on. read more

Haven't been horseback riding in over 10 years but my friend found this place and it didn't disappoint. Zane was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable. Made the ride relaxing and fun. Will definitely come back in the Spring. Make sure to dress in layers it can get chilly. read more

On my cross-country road trip, my family and I visited the Terry Bison Ranch to get lunch and go on the bison tour. Living in the suburbs of California, I found the ranch itself was pretty cool. There were plenty of animals to see, including a very friendly cat that follows you around, particularly if you have food. The bison tour, while on a very super slow moving train, brings you up close and personal to bison. While I was there, I also ordered two buffalo burgers at the Senators Restaurant. While my burger, cooked medium-rare, was pretty good, the fries were horrendous. They were overcooked and had absolutely no potato taste. The coleslaw was just average. However, the restaurant did have a giant bin of peanuts, from which you can serve yourself and munch on while you wait for your food. I guess that kind of made up for the disgusting fries. Since I ordered the food to go, we also requested ketchup packets. Strangely, the ketchup packets were all stuck together by this clear, dark yellow goo. I have a feeling the ketchup might have been close to its expiration date. Thus, if you're visiting the Terry Bison Ranch, definitely check out its attractions but skip the restaurant, or at least the burger and fries. read more

Highly recommend! We took our 3 year old son and he had a blast! I love how you are free to roam at your own pace and view all the animals. We were able to pet/play with the cats, horses, cows, etc. We also did the train ride to feed the bison! Totally worth it. It was $15 per adult (very reasonable). So a friend of mine was looking for something to do with her toddler at the last minute on a holiday weekend, and I decided to tag along. Terry Bison Ranch is an easy drive from Ft. Collins, in the opposite direction of the bulk of traffic, and was thankfully uncrowded even on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. I will call this attraction a "ranch" rather than a "resort," or maybe I need to look-up secondary definitions of "resort." The facilities are definitely "rustic" if you are feeling kind, "run-down" if you're not. I infer that the draws to this place include the following: wandering around the grounds and climbing a scary, rickety catwalk to view their menagerie (chickens, peacocks, ostriches, llamas, horses, ponies, goats, camels, pigs, donkeys ... and perhaps other critters that I've forgotten); riding the train to feed bison ($12 for adults, $6 for kids, $2 for a bag of alfalfa pellets); taking a horseback or ATV tour of some portion of the acreage ($40); watching a little rodeo action (cost unknown -- saw the tiny arena on the train ride); and dining at The Senator Steakhouse. Of the above-mentioned activities, we did the first two. We happened to time our impromptu visit just right to buy tickets and hop on the train just as it was ready to depart -- lucky for us, since it would have been an hour and a half to wait for the next one, and I'm not so sure we could have kept ourselves occupied long enough to wait. We didn't ever see a 2nd train leaving their little depot, so I suppose that means we were there for less than an hour and a half all told? Anyway, the train runs on a small loop, with a conductor describing various ranch features as you go. I didn't understand half of what he was saying -- perhaps due to the quality of the audio, perhaps because I don't understand fast-talking Wyoming cowboy dialect? Anyway, the highlight of the train ride is when you stop to feed the bison, which really needs no explanation. I have to say that I found it a bit uncanny to see these huge animals begging like dogs at the side of the train, but it was an opportunity to see them up close enough to appreciate their features well enough to wonder why they have blue tongues (Siri didn't know). The toddler was actually too grossed-out by their tongues and slobber ("it's disgusting!") to feed them, so she mostly threw her alfalfa pellets toward random animals. I guess it will still be a childhood remembrance of some sort anyway. So, I guess we can more or less check the box on having done this nearby touristy attraction and call it good. The one thing we didn't do, though, was to have a bison burger at The Senator -- that's the one reason I might be persuaded to return. read more

You have got to be kidding me about this place.The people that work at registering you into the rv park are grouchy that's to start.The sites are way to small you are almost touching slides. Flies are herendous in the site and in the restaurant. The restaurant is really a joke it was so bad they had to comp our meal the food was cold didn't bring the drinks and our waitress just left for no reason. Its a shame this could be a nice place but you need to step it up by a lot. read more

People are friendly and a real unique experience. We only did the train ride to the bison and it was fun! The guide was knowledgeable and answered everyone's question. She was patient and allowed everyone ample time for photos and feeding the bison. A unique experience! This is a working ranch, not Disney. It isn't the most modern and not a place to spend the entire day, but nonetheless it is worth a stop and an hour or two. read more

We sat down to eat at 2pm and told waitress we were going on the 3pm tour. Since there was only 3 other full tables, we didn't think that would be a problem. Our food came at 240pm. We had Bison Burgers and chicken tenders. Burgers were good-nothing exceptional. Chicken tenders tasted like frozen kind. Wouldn't come back just to eat. Tour was awesome! We visited from Casper and met family there from Colorado. I don't usually leave reviews, but I can't stop thinking about the deplorable conditions the animals lived in. The horses and llamas were in bad need of being groomed and trimmed...and there's a ferrier school minutes from the ranch. Also, the grass hay was moldy. Pens needed to be cleaned and they were small. The overall feel of the ranch was tired and dilapidated. The highlight was being able to feed the bison. Staff was friendly. read more

Beautiful fabulous amazing ranch. We've come for two of their two day concerts now. The staff were friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed by all us hood rats. Nice Wyoming grass between our toes. Great sunrises. Dope old school playground, got to watch a four year old hurt themselves the literal moment they got one it. The Senators Steakhouse was understaffed but we waited an extra hour to order and it was worth it because the food was amazing. Like really amazing. Highly recommend ordering one of everything on all the menus. Whoever runs this place is pure genius. Did I mention that hardy Wyoming grass? Yea like actual grass that grows in the ground, like the stuff cows eat. Couldn't ask for anything more, except more staff in the steakhouse and cheaper bison steaks and late night train rides. Hopefully they can get all the kinks worked out and find a way to make the two day concerts work for everybody, so they can keep happening and we can keep spending money here. read more

Just left Terry Bison Ranch and inadvertently left behind RV pad levelers. Called and asked staff to pick up and box them. We would send mail call slip for mailing costs. Staff refused to box items. How simple is that? Stated they don't do that? Very poor service after having paid good money to stay at their resort. Staff refused to give name of supervisor or owner to follow up on our request. The positives: 1. Personnel are very friendly and helpful. 2. Very enjoyable to see all the animals 3. Train rides, ATV rides, fishing 4. They don't charge for electricity on their RV sites 5. They are accommodating for when you ask them The negatives: 1. Their wifi is TERRIBLE 2. Potholes are jarring, and even though they grade the road, the potholes are back in 1 day 3. Senator Restarant is poor. Took them 1 hour to serve our food and then the food was less than warm. Also I think the servers are not trained and they don't pay that much attention to their tables. We go into town to eat 100% of the time. 4. We lost power twice during the winter. When that happens there is no one to talk to and no phone number to call. You are on your own. This place is difficult to rate.. Cabin #1 was 5 star with a porch overlooking the herd of bison. The Senator Restaurant 3 Star The music was very entertaining, the burgers were OK, although they seemingly won an a prize. Do not order the onion rings. The vegetables were barely warm. Train Ride: 4 Stars. So much Fun, especially feeding the Buffalo. Would be 5, but we had difficulty understanding the guide at times. read more

It's one thing when you screw up an order (they forgot a meal when the others were delivered, poor kid had to wait an hour). But to not even comp that meal? Not cool at all... At least the food was pretty good. Service was decent. read more

So when you book with them for there cabins you do sign a paper saying there on no refunds or rescheduling. I just think it's pretty shitty that everyone is on hard times right now and the frontier days being canceled they will not refund my $500. We live in Texas with everything being canceled we are not going to drive all the way there to stay on the ranch our two days and drive back. read more

Don't know where to start, Got a package deal from Groupon that included a train ride and a meal for each of us, glad I did if I had to pay full price, I would have been pissed. Overall, the place is fairly run down, "Train" not as pictured, it is some kind of homemade trolley type thing that grunted and groaned all around the track. The driver war fairly entertaining. I called to reserve a camping spot with a rather unpleasant woman on the phone. I had asked for a confirmation number and she seemed disgusted. She huffed and went on about how they had 27,000 acres, she said "I think we'll be able to find you a spot." Checking in there was a couple in front of me. After they left, the lady behind the counter told me it would be a few minutes, she had to take care of a few things. I waited while she shuffled through papers. A guy, whom I assume was another employee, came up to the counter. The lady uttered something unpleasant about the couple in front of me, unaware we were actually traveling with the same group. Done, she asks if I have a reservation and I said I did. She looked through a stack of reservations but, alas, my name was not there. She turns, looks annoyed, and asks "Are you SURE you had a reservation?" I say "Yes, quite sure. I asked the lady on the phone for a confirmation number and she went on about how the ranch had 27,000 acres and she was sure that wouldn't be a problem. (I am pretty sure this was the same woman.) Irritated she goes "Ugh, hold on" and turns to do what I don't know. I ask "So, you DON'T have my reservation? That's fine, I'll go elsewhere." I prefer to give my money to someplace who seems to appreciate my business and not talk down to me or anyone else so I went to a hotel instead. read more

This ranch was a nice stop. Lots of buffalo and babies! Train ride thru part of the herd was fun, we fed all the majestic beasts and had sooooo much fun. Go inside their trading post and take a picture of yourself sitting on a buffalo or a JACKALOPE!!!! For free!!! It was fun and a nice side trip. read more

This place is a must-see if visiting Cheyenne or northern Colorado. About 40 minutes north of Fort Collins, CO, thus place is so interesting and unique. I've taken my kids twice and had a fantastic time each visit. The gift shop is where you start and buy your train tickets. Look around--super cute and nifty souvenirs here. Also a stuffed buffalo and stuffed jackalope for the kids to climb on and take pics. After buying tickets, head down the hill to the train. As you go down, you can take adorable pictures at the many face cut out boards and see HUGE turkeys, peacocks and fancy chickens wandering about. The train is directly in front of a large horse barn with friendly horses milling about and a fun suspension bridge for the kids to play on. The train is loaded with bison "cake" -- pellets of alfalfa and molasses. The train conductors are very knowledgeable and authentic "cowboys." The train is noisy and slow but gives you a great tour. You see horses, cows, alpacas, llamas, ostrich, goats, camels, deer, elk, geese and, of course, bison. TONS of bison. Baby bison, female bison and GIANT male bison. The hear the train and come running for their treats. The conductor opens all the windows and even a door and they stick their heads in to be hand fed. Yep, you HAND FEED giant bison. They are very gentle as they do t have a lot of teeth, but most have very slimy long tongues and will happily lick you to get the pellet of food. Don't think this means they are gentle, sweet animals. You definitely would not want to be around them outside the train. I took all my kids (ages 4-11) and everyone was in love with them and eager to feed these amazing giants. Wonderful and educational experience. You'll never do anything like it again read more

This is a review of the restaurant. The venue is huge and great for large events. 100% cowboy/country feeling here. Started with rocky mountain oysters. They were great. Then moved on the the bison burger with added grilled mushrooms. Wow!! Nailed it!!! The server was attentive and nice. Overall, a great experience. Will definitely return. read more

I loved my stay here! This place was great even if you're traveling solo like me. The attractions are fun and I really liked seeing the animals and the Bison up close. The entire staff from the train driver to the bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the ranch. And the food - WOW. Try the Bison sliders or the BBQ wings - best ever! read more

The Bison burger was large and I ordered it Medium and the burger still had some pink in the center and Swiss cheese was soft and mushrooms were good overall it was a very large burger to fit in my mouth. I was not disappointed at all. This is the 3rd time I have been here while traveling to the east coast and every time that I have been here I have not been disappointed in the quality of the Bison burger!!! read more
