Awesome little breakfast/lunch place! Friendly service, great food. We live about an hour away but if we are in the area its a must do.

I was out enjoying a day or riding my motorcycle and decided to stop here for a quick bite. I decided on the cranberry chicken wrap. This wrap was just as good as any I've had. Although I forgot their names, the 2 ladies who worked there who I dealt with are the reason for this review. In todays (covid) world where places have a hard time getting help, these ladies were a welcome relief. My waitress was like an old friend within minutes of talking with her..I am sure if I am ever up there again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop and eat here again. read more

Been here a few times, always loved the service and the food is most excellent. Please try the corned beef. I personally did not enjoy the pulled pork but each to their own. Who knew Turner could have such a delicious diner to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Upon entering we were greeted with a smile and everyone who worked at Terry & Maxine's was very friendly. Our service was excellent with every drink being refilled and checking up on us just enough. The food is excellent. My Rueben had fall apart meat and the bread was toasted to perfection. The fresh cut fries are also amazing. Everything is made in house, so you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. It was also very quick, which is good if you're in a rush. The prices are great, around $10 for a sandwich is a good deal, especially when you have leftovers. read more

Tired of the hour plus slog to Portland, my daughter and I were looking for something a little more local and came across Terry & Maxine's. It looked tiny from the street, but turned out to be quite spacious once inside, with a comfortable waiting area. The host immediately greeted us with a smile, and within 10 minutes we were seated at a table and had our drink order taken by a very friendly waitress. We both ordered the number two breakfast which turned out to be pretty much everything you want in a reasonably priced tasty breakfast. Her bacon and my sausage patties were terrific, eggs and homefries on-point, and the pancake chaser nice and fluffy. Our beverages were filled as needed and we enjoyed checking out everyone else's meals 'almost' as much as demolishing our own. Great prices, good food and friendly service means we will definitely be back. I've just GOT to try the homemade hash and that 'Godfather' steak and cheese is next up on the agenda. read more

This place was recommended by locals that we've been working with. Many choices, so it was hard to choose! I got the Smashed hash, my husband got the Hash poutine. We were very impressed! We're from the south and have been working here (essential workers) since late April. Being from the south, we have found much of the food here bland; while this wasn't a "spicy" dish, it was flavored very well. Both of our dishes had corned beef hash and it was SO good. Plenty of it too. We are sort of Bloody Mary snobs, but we ordered one and it was good as well. Will definitely be back. Next time will try the crepes. read more

Service: you will notice that the waitresses treat you like their neighbors and give genuine reviews of the food Food: the menu covers the standards. What is super cool-they are adding the regulars' special orders into menu items. I lucked out. I am not the only person who likes their corn beef hash on top of biscuits n gravy. And it's all the real deal! Get their early or risk a wait at peak hours. It's the right kind of wait, not the "why aren't they clearing the tables!?" Kind of wait. So glad we found this awesome gem on route 4 in Auburn while going for a convertible ride! The food was great and staff so friendly and accommodating of our fur baby Ruby. We have driven by this spot many times and I remembered it used to be the Chickadee. We stopped in for brunch (two adults and a picky 12 yo kid) and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is great, breakfast is available all day and the food was delicious. I got veggie hash with an English muffin. Veggies were fresh and well seasoned. The grilled EM was next level good. The kiddo got a burger and fries and liked both ( a win!). My BF got the lobster roll on a homemade roll and it was really good. I made him give me a bite. He also got coleslaw, which he is picky about. He said it was a bit watery but the flavor was good. Overall, very good! We will definitely be back! read more

As a former sailor and pub guy, I have to say Terry & Maxine's offers me one hell of a throwback to the good ole days! Where else can you go for Guns N Roses in the morning, while enjoying an amazing breakfast? The food is classic with a twist. Reminds me of the old mess hall in Texas where I put on tons of weight because the food was actually really good! The atmosphere is great too. The staff is friendly as hell. Another perk: Moxie in a bottle. You can have breakfast and swig a Moxie. Is there anything better than that? Maybe a 7 Demon Medicine bag, but we can't hold that against them. read more

We ordered take out from Terry and Maxine's and ate in their upper parking lot, we are not eating in restaurants yet. Our order was Cobb salad with grilled chicken, pork and black bean burrito with guacamole, and a lobster roll basket. The Cobb salad was a good portion with fresh lettuce and cucumbers. The tomatoes were over a little ripe. The chicken on the salad was moist and had a grilled taste, delicious. The portion of chicken was well worth the up charge. The burrito was average and the guacamole was not like a fresh chunky guacamole. Average. The lobster roll was different from what is typical for anywhere I have gotten them. The roll was toasted with a nice portion of lobster claws, the meat was cold like a typical lobster salad roll with Mayo then it was drizzled with butter. The butter cooled off due to the cold meat and congealed. There was Mayo on the side. I have never had drawn butter on cold lobster meat. I think if the bun, meat and butter were warm it would have been good or if it was served cold with Mayo. The fries that came with the basket were really fresh and salted perfectly, excellent.The salad was the best thing we ordered the grilled chicken was excellent. This restaurant has a huge menu I will eat here again to explore the menu, I am sure there is some really good food here. read more

Splendid breakfasts! Have yet to try other meals. I have had two incarnations of huevos rancheros. Both have been great. The corned beef hash is OBVIOUSLY not from a can; one can actually identify the components of the hash. It isn't just a salty mash of ground-up mystery substances. Yum! Occasionally, Belgian waffles are a special. That is always a tough one for me to pass up. The staff is very friendly and eager to serve. It seems that they actually enjoy their jobs serving yummy food to the public. Give them a shot! One goofy thing... restroom lights are motion activated. Ladies room seems to put up a fight. When I first went into the establishment there was nobody at the front desk it didn't look like they were busy did you take us a little bit to get a table but after we got our table our waitress which seemed young and unexperienced Head us order drinks when we received our drinks she held my cup by the lip of where you're supposed to drink from especially during these challenging times with Covid I would rather not wait to see that because I'm not sure if she ever washed her hands she never gave us a straws I had to go out to my vehicle and get my own straws on top of that I ordered the fish and chips which was good tasting The fish was breaded and when I took a bite it was crunchy on the outside just like you would want bread fish to be but when When I tried my french fries they were soggy both my fish and fries were Luke warm specially when they're not busy I would assume they would make it fresh right then and there one of the reasons why I want to this establishment is because it's her mom and pop place and I've never been there before I was sadly disappointed in the quality of the food and how the waitress cared for my drinks when I got back to my house I looked at my Daughters cup which they gave her a small plastic cup on the side of the lid it looked like it wasn't cleaned like I Would hope they would see this and pay more attention to their cleaning and how they transport drinks and foods to customers on top of that when we received the check in was ready to pay for it we waited 20 to 30 minutes with no waitress or anything they come back to our table to receive payment we left money on the table for payment because the waitress never came back to our table this was my first attempt at this restaurant and I'll try it again read more

My family and I have been to Terry & Maxine's twice - once for breakfast and once for dinner. The prices are great and I would give their breakfast a 5 star rating. Dinner was somewhat disappointing. We visited on a Friday night for my fiancé's birthday. There weren't a ton of patrons for a Friday night, which was surprising. I ordered a chicken burrito with a side of guacamole for an additional $1.50. The portion was huge, but what was inside wasn't so great. The burrito was filled with rice that had been cooked to mush. The chicken was dry and somewhat hard, like it was old. The black beans were good - I wish that there would have been more of them. We'll probably be back in the future, but for breakfast only. read more

I work in the Auburn area Tuesdays and Wednesdays and stopped in here a couple months ago. The service was fast and friendly and the food was great. I have had breakfast and lunch. Both have been great with generous portions and good pricing. So far my favorite item is the Chile Steak Burrito. I highly recommend them. read more

This is an example of the journey being better than the destination. We went to Maine to go to a terrain park. Rocky Mountain Terrain Park turned out to be the most horribly run place I've ever been to, but Terry & Maxine's was so delicious no matter where we end up going on our next adventure.. I've never had a bad meal or bad experience here. They offer typical diner favorites in addition to having unique mouthwatering dishes you won't find at similar establishments. I typically end up order off of their specials menu because the specials sound so good (and are true to their description). I've only been for brunch but they have plenty of vegetarian options on their breakfast and lunch menus. My husband and I frequent there often in addition to taking our out of town visitors. Staff have been very friendly with every visit. Service is fast! I have not been able to finish the crossword puzzles on the placemats before I finish my meal. read more

The food was good. The service, not so much. I entered the restaurant and saw a "Please wait to be seated" sign. I waited and waited. No one came. I called the restaurant and someone came to the front desk to answer the phone, and I asked if I could be seated as I had waited quite a while. The person realized that I was seated right in front of her. We each had a good laugh over it. OK, things happen. My dining partner came. (She is very well along in her pregnancy.) The female servers nicely attended to her, re-supplying her coffee, water, "anything else you would like," (to her). I might just as well have not been there. Hey, "#metoo" here! Sorry, but sexism works both ways, and this was doubly ridiculous and doubly rude. It's past time when a woman's pregnancy should be open conversation among strangers, certainly among waitstaff who freely approached my partner discussing her pregnancy. Do you really think it is still acceptable to just begin discussing so personal a topic with customers? To the female waitstaff, get a clue. If a pregnant woman is such an oddity to you, or you feel is in such need of attention to the point of totally ignoring the person with whom she is dining, I really have to pass and will. Please, Maine is a small state. It is very difficult to run a small business, more so a restaurant in a rural area. Clearly much work went into this operation. Please don't muck up what could be a good restaurant with just plain stupidity. read more

In town for the week looking to get together with family for brunch. Sister in law suggests we go to Terry & Maxine's. What a great suggestion that was. Friendly, fast service and a pleasant atmosphere. We were a large group so we were seated in the back room which offered us privacy and being a large group we can get a bit loud. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon. This was a large burrito stuffed with eggs, beans, veggies, cheese and bacon served with sour cream and salsa. Delicious! The few who had the French toast were very pleased also. Two large toast served with butter and Maine maple syrup. Others had and enjoyed the crepes which was served with wild Maine blueberries. Others had the breakfast platter with eggs, bacon and toast. Coffee was delicious and so were the mimosas. Our waitress was excellent in serving our lunch group and accommodating our every need. I highly recommend Terry & Maxine's. I will be back to Maine next summer and you can bet that I will be planning a trip to T & M. read more
