    Lobster rice
    Dean M.

By far the most child friendly restaurant we've encountered in Portugal. Super engaged staff, friendly, joking, and poly lingual. It was fun listening to or server engage with the couple next to us in Korean. We sat outside with a view of the Douro River across into Gaia, simply beautiful. We ordered the seafood soup, clams, and the lobster rice. The seafood soup and clams didn't last long enough for a picture but I held off on devouring the lobster rice (it was amazing) for just long enough to snap a photo. Honorable mention that we didn't order is the sea bass - they serve it table side after a brief alcohol fire to bring the salt off the skin. Looked amazing and was a popular dish. This is one of the few restaurants where we want to eat more than once on a trip; foregoing novel experiences for known excellence! It's that good!

Nice little restaurant adjacent to the Douro River in Porto. Everyone in our party of four were happy with their food overall and the staff was very friendly and took great care of us throughout the meal. Considering the great location, reasonable prices and ambiance of their outdoor patio would definitely recommend this business if you are in this area.

Great experience. Got there at the tail end of lunch and received excellent service. Soup was delicious. I had bacalau a bras and my husband had the steak. We were both satisfied. Highly recommend.

SeAfood stew rice so worth the wait

This place is amazing, yes it's a long wait so if you don't mind it, then grab a seat by the water to enjoy the beautiful view while you wait. After 45 minutes wait around 2 pm we finally got seated outside. We ordered a bottle of wine and seafood stew for 2, baked cod fish, oxtail stew and extra rice. Everything was just so delicious. The seafood stew took 45 minutes to cook but it is so worth it: everything was just so filling and it was more than enough for 4 people. Generous portion of the cod fish. The bill came under $100 euros.

    Amazing shrimp with pasta

Great first dining experience in Portugal! Don't listen to the other negative reviews. We put this place to the test and they came through. We were super jet lagged and slept through our reservations at a different restaurant. We stopped here as it was close to where we were staying. It was busy but they were able to seat us right away at a 2 person table. The staff was super friendly, made great recommendations and was super quick and attentive given how busy they were (8pm on a Sunday). We both had the seafood soup (amazing), split the shrimp with garlic (heavenly) and we shared the shrimp pasta (I was so happy we went shrimp heavy because it was amazing). Great flavor, shrimp was not over cooked and the pasta was cook perfectly. Overall a great dining experience. I will say we saw some people get the fish salad and the whole fish and it also looked amazing. I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat... in-fact I already said I would be craving the shrimp with garlic when I got back to the states.

Food was ok but nothing too special or unique. Located just off the waterfront in Porto, service was good...

Such a fun place for our first meal in Porto. We had two types of verde wine. Both were tasty and crisp. Oysters are amazing (and very large!!) Bread (which is grilled so more like a crostini) and salad was great to start. For the main course we enjoyed the shellfish rice (more like a stew/jumbalaya) and the octopus. Delicious and highly recommend. Food was probably an /10. Service 10/10 with our server Joao. Ambiance was a 10/10 hands down. Patio overlooks the water and it's gorgeous. We stayed through sunset and were fortunate enough to see the pretty lights and enjoy the live music. This place is a must if you are in Porto!

Outside seating to capture the view

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Excellent food and a view. A great place to have a leisurely lunch or dinner to take in the view, people watch, and enjoy the delicious food. This is what we ate/drank: A pitcher of lemonade. So freshing, with a light natural sweetness. A thirst quencher. The cod fish fritters were excellent. Fried perfectly golden brown. Fish soup was amazing. Hearty and delicious. Grilled octopus with onions, garlic, olives and potatoes. The octopus so tender and nicely salted. The chocolate cake so decadent and divine. There is walnuts and a caramel sauce center. Cafe Americano - good.

Honestly one of the most memorable meals while I was in Porto. We were originally going to eat somewhere else and I'm not sure why we decided on not going there anymore but I'm SO glad we didn't. We came cross Terreiro and liked that some of the locals were recommending this spot. You still get the amazing view of the Douro but it's not right by the water like some of the other restaurants. Vegetable soup: very simple, but delicious. Shrimp in garlic sauce: O M G. Sooooo good. Remembering this shrimp dish I ordered another shrimp dish at a different restaurant and was so sad it didn't taste like Terreiro's. Grilled octopus with potatoes: Again, so good. Best octopus dish I've ever had. I don't like octopus dishes. Tried one in Paris for double the price I paid here, only could eat 2 bites of that one. The octopus here was so tender, with the perfect flavors in my mouth. Super affordable and so tasty, with a great view. What more can I ask for?!

Definitely recommend making a reservation, I found it impressive that the hostess's reservation system was essentially a notebook and pen in this digital age. We did not see much of our waiter, since the restaurant was extremely busy and filled up with diners. Standouts: 1. Razor clams - I'll always get these if I see it on the menu. Cooked in this incredible garlic sauce. 2. Fish and seafood cataplana - delicious, tomato-forward seafood stew; I liked the version that we had the night before more which came with rice and was more filling. But this was basically a never-ending bowl of fish, clams, mussels, and shrimp. Add to that the fact that the restaurant like most in Porto did not have A/C and I emerged feeling like I had been sitting in a sauna. Skipped dessert; I had my eye on the Weeel! froyo truck parked outside. One more nit - the metal chairs are not comfortable at all for sitting a long time in.

As I came in on my own I opted for the one open stool at the counter. The restaurant was busy on a Monday early evening, about 5:30-6:00 pm-ish, with what felt like mostly locals. They have a regular menu, a daily menu printed on the counter top, and they also do Take-Away. Their specialty is definitely their roasted chicken, which one can see cooking on spits at the entrance of the restatruant, conjuring such amazing smells that truly open up the appetite. The staff is sweet and did their best to serve me, with my English/Spanish and no Portugese self. Everything I ate was top-tier without being fancy. Simple and flavorful. I ordered a 1/2 chicken (way too much for me by myself) that came with batatas (french fries- which I didnt love), so I ordered a side of white rice and a salad, as well as what I would call a carafe of wine (it was definitely either two very healthy pours or 3 regular ones). All in all, I paid $15 euros, which I thought was a great value for all that I was given and how tasty everything was.

There were two other groups before us that were sat pretty quickly within 15 minutes or so. During the time we were waiting the hostess was extremely friendly and kept giving us updates on when the table was going to be ready and was making light conversation with us as we waited. When we finally got seated you could tell that the servers were definitely busy trying to get everyone's food and drinks out and so the same hostess came to us and said don't worry I'll take your order for you and told us the things that were the most popular which from my pictures we basically got everything she said LOL. And we were not disappointed with the food that we chose. Now we know why they are considered the house specialties. The flavors of the potato fish cheesy goodness dish I cannot remember the name of it was just so warm and comforting. I was worried about a fishiness coming through when you took different bites but no all the flavor is harmonized well with each other. It was also well balanced. Now I will say though those other dishes were amazing our favorite hands down was definitely the grilled octopus. It was so tender and almost melt in your mouth. Exemplary Service, Incredible Modern Cuisine, and an Unforgettable Family Dinner at Tasco!…read more I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Tasco. This was our final night in Porto with three generations at the table--my wife, our two daughters, my parents, and myself--and we wanted a special place to celebrate the end of an amazing trip. My wife had walked into their famous neighbor, Muu, the night before to see if she could get us in, but they were completely booked. However, the co-owner of Muu and Tasco couldn't have been more festive or welcoming! He accommodated us by booking a table for our group at Tasco--their sister restaurant right next door--for the following night, and he even did a shot of tequila with my wife to celebrate. Talk about incredible Portuguese hospitality! Traveler Tip: Tasco is co-owned with Muu, literally right next door, and shares some of the same kitchen facilities and culinary staff. If you can't get into one, definitely check the other--you're getting that same exceptional standard of food! We were seated in their fantastic private dining room, which was perfect for our family. Tasco serves elevated modern cuisine designed to be enjoyed family-style. We started with the Cogumelos Mágicos (wild mushrooms) and the Cyber Punk (fresh tuna sashimi)--both were incredible and packed with flavor. For our main courses, we shared the Rib Eye, Black Angus, and Supremo de Robalo (sea bass). Every single dish was cooked to perfection and loved by everyone from the kids to my parents. As impressive as the food was, the service during a chaotic moment truly set this night apart. Mid-dinner, my wife accidentally broke a wine glass right on the table. Before we could even feel embarrassed, our server stepped in with total grace and composure. They cleaned the entire area seamlessly without disrupting the flow of our meal, and upon noticing my wife had a small cut on her finger, they immediately brought out a bandage with genuine care and concern. From the warm tequila-fueled welcome the night before to looking after us so thoughtfully at dinner, the team at Tasco delivered exemplary service from start to finish. If you're visiting Porto and want incredible modern dishes, warm hospitality, and an unforgettable vibe, Tasco is an absolute must-visit!
