Unfortunately, this is not how I thought it would be returned.

I was really excited about picking up my old stained glass transom from Terraza Stained Glass. I removed the glass to restore it and replace in a property I am rehabbing in Baltimore. The glass was in decent condition except for the faded numbers but, the frame was looking it's age. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed in how it was returned. I indicated that I wanted to reuse the transom. I don't think I came across as being cheap. I went on the suggestion of who I believe to be the owner/manager as what should be done. My cost was $200 and I was told it would take 2 weeks. The requested piece was replaced but, it was returned to me looking not so good otherwise. If I knew it would be returned still needing more work (to be cleaned and painted), I would have opted to do something different. Maybe I'm missing something but, I'm just really shocked that this is what was returned to me for $200 and waiting 2 weeks. The new framed stained glass work in their studio looks great. I just don't think I will bring another glass to be restored.

    Intro to Stained Glass Class

(10/16/2016) We had a Groupon for the Intro to Stained Glass class (it doesn't really give you a better deal off the price though, like 50 cents). Went as a group, it was a great class, fun and you get to make something yourself to bring home. They provide all the materials, the workspace is roomy, and the instructors are friendly (some better than others, but overall, good). Location is a touch hard to get to in Brooklyn, unless you're familiar with the area. Parking is on Baltic Avenue, front door is on the section of Hanover that is one-way and intersects Frankfurst Street. There were couples there on a date, groups of friends, and singlets, everyone was welcomed. Def do it!

Stained glass hearts made in our class!

We bought a groupon for an introductory class as a way to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. We had never done stained glass before and really had no idea what to expect. It was awesome! There were 6 other students besides us all working on the type of piece: a heart. But we got to pick out our own colors. Everything was prepared for us and ready to go. The volunteer, Beth Lacey was incredible. She mentioned it was her first time teaching without a second teacher, but she handled it with ease, humor, and professionalism. She encouraged, helped us see the beauty in small mistakes, and went to the back to find a specific color of glass if we made a fatal mistake to a piece we were using. Moreover, she went over the top and stayed late with us as we took our time. I will be going back! Tips for others: wear comfortable shoes (on your feet for all 3 hours) and eat before you go (class really is 3 hours).

I've been to a similar shop like this back home in Los Angeles (Remainders in Pasadena for those…read moreinterested) and now that I live in Baltimore and remain a frequent crafter (sewist, knitter, and general hobbyist), I was delighted to find out this shop existed. I've been on the hunt for some cheap supplies, specifically a pinback button machine as this is around $50-60 new online and since I'm using funds from the school club I'm in to buy it; this felt excessive. Unfortunately they didn't have this machine and apparently only have ones in stock like this once in a while as they tend to go fast. Not deterred, I kept exploring the rest of the shop. Price wise, this place is THE best craft store you can and should stop into before going elsewhere to see if they have supplies you could use. You name it; they have it or have had it in the past. Supply varies as they depend on donations but with some supplies I bought costing just a quarter, I truly cannot be mad. They had yarn, paper supplies, knitting supplies, beadwork items, sewing supplies including patterns and zippers and sewing feet, stationary and scrapbook/journaling supplies. I absolutely recommend any crafters on a budget to come out here.

I absolutely love this place! It's such a gem and a unique experience. Everyone who works there is…read moreso nice, welcoming and helpful if you have any questions on anything. The last time I was there, they had just received a bunch of new items and it was so refreshing to see how excited, passionate and enthusiastic everyone was to go through the supplies. I say this because this is the kind of place that you can go to fairly frequently and never know what you're going to find! My only piece of advice is to go in generallllly knowing what you're looking for, or give yourself a realistic budget because it's so easy to get caught up and buy an overwhelming amount! I say this from personal experience!
