Long story short: if you want pretty flowers, Terra is capable. But if you have a vision/requests, expect her to execute HER personal preferences vs. yours. Terra made my wedding look nice but ignored what I asked. I gave loose parameters for everything EXCEPT my bouquet. I asked for a replica of my mom's Hawaiian wedding bouquet, made of orchids my grandpa grew for her, arranged in a unique way. We had a Jewish wedding for my husband/his big family, so the bouquet was supposed to represent my family/culture (I have a small family). This replica was the singular thing that was important to me, and Terra agreed she would do it. I stressed the importance multiple times and provided her plenty of photos to reference. My grandpa would have been so touched. He was at the wedding. I was hurt and shocked when Terra gave me my bouquet. We tried to do damage control but she resisted even that. It felt awful being totally ignored about something SO important to me, and I wasn't demanding about anything else. I also told her I was petite and wanted a smaller bouquet like my moms (who is my same size and I gave photos for bouquet scale). The bouquet was huge and overwhelms me in all of my photos. This is the only thing about my wedding that leaves a bad taste in my mouth 10 months later, because I was so adamant in our discussions, Terra promised, and then ignored my wishes on the day. Terra is capable of pretty florals. Will she listen to client requests? Only if she thinks it suits her. Terra is extremely professional, kind and you can tell that she is working in an an industry in which she is truly talented. I wish I could get married all over again and have requested Terra to do MORE! Terra Malia Designs was an absolute treat to work with to design the flowers for my wedding and rehearsal dinner. We hired Terra as the florist for our wedding and were very pleased with her work. We liked that she took the time to run through the venue with my husband and really tried to understand our needs and accommodate our budget. I remember meeting Terra for the first time at a Starbucks just south of Santa Barbara. Our venue, the Rincon Beach Club had recommended her as she handles all of the flowers at their facility. They had explained how she focused on succulents and had a strong connection with nature and used sustainable practices so I was immediately intrigued! My sister had joined me for a day of flower hunting and while we really liked the first two places that we checked out something just didn't feel right. The flowers were beautiful but we didn't feel like they reflected "us". When we met Terra it was completely different! She made us feel so special and unique from the first minute. We talked for a while and she really understood the look and message that we wanted to have with our flowers and our wedding in general. I explained to her that we really wanted to incorporate eco-friendly ideas and that we wanted to have a wildflower type look and incorporate sunflowers. A few weeks later we met up with her again to see a "mock up" based on what we had discussed at our first meeting. Honestly she completely nailed it! The flower sample that she put together was even better than I had envisioned. From that moment on we knew that we could totally trust her creativity to develop a beautiful setting on our big day. Our flowers were absolutely GORGEOUS! Her colorful personality shines through in her work and resulted in simple, yet elegant; soft, but bright and colorful bouquets that everyone at the wedding loved. Terra was extremely easy to work with and was happy to take ideas and suggestions down to the last minute. She really made the whole process so easy and I knew that I didn't have to think twice about the décor of the wedding because she would handle it. And the best part was, when all was said and done, when the celebration had ended, we had beautiful succulents from my bouquet and my husband's boutonniere that we were able to replant as a living memory of our day and our love.
