After stubbornly refusing the idea of flowers for a while during the wedding planning process, we were introduced to Toby, who ended up being my absolute favorite vendor to work with (which is saying a lot because we had a seriously rockstar team supporting us). Our initial "get to know each other" meeting was effortless and Toby seemed to immediately hone in on ideas that felt true to us, our vision, and our budget. After receiving her initial proposal/inspiration photos, Toby worked with us to refine our ideas -- I wanted to feel like I was standing in/holding a field of crazy/tangled (but ~elevated~) wildflowers and she absolutely delivered. We ended up with the world's most gorgeous yellow flower arrangements (inspired by the mustard blooms so characteristic of springtime here on the CA central/south coast). Between the ceremony half-circle "meadow", to the most stunning bouquets (which are still going strong 8+ days post-wedding!), and seriously incredible pocket squares for the guys (I totally didn't know this was a thing before, but DO IT! They looked amazing and unique), I can't choose my favorite arrangement. Because of our tighter budget, Toby worked during cocktail hour to rearrange/repurpose our ceremony meadow for our reception area (in front of the band, bars, etc.), which was still just as stunning. Toby cleverly repurposed the gorgeous floral arrangements for the aisle around the sweetheart table creating an enchanted garden for the evening. The tables had a mix of flowers that were beautifully composed to compliment each other. The room was awash in a romance of sorbet, pink and coral blooms all bought together with the perfect greens and a touch of blue, surrounded by candles of different heights. Toby also lends her keen eye,and commands the table scape which was perfect. Our guests kept asking: "who did the flowers?" Toby is a pleasure to work with. She collaborates with you on your vision, but also guides you in the right direction and has a strong opinion about what will and will not work from her years of experience. And, you should listen to her because she is very experienced. She is respectful of your budget and is the person to reign you in when you start to get fantastical. I really appreciated that! As I write this, I'm counting down the minutes to picking up my mom from the airport. I was feeling a little shitty about arriving empty handed, so I did a quick search on the yelp app. I didn't know what I wanted... Maybe some flowers or a little gift for her to use in her Air bnb this weekend, I don't even know. Turns out this place was about .01 miles from where I was, on the opposite end of Bergamot Station, so of course I had to pop in. It took me a few minutes to figure out where in there it actually was, but they had a little sign outside that made it easy to locate coming around the corner. DO NOT USE THIS FLORIST!!! I was supposed to get married in April 2020 and due to the pandemic, everything was shut down at that time. We were in lockdown and Toby (the owner) told me that I needed to pay her more money, in addition to the 20% deposit I had on file. She wanted me to bring the deposit about to 50% and then on top of that I would HAVE to have wedding within 8 months. We had absolutely no idea what the status of the pandemic would be nor if we would even be able to have a wedding again yet she wanted MORE money she said in order to "keep her business afloat". I said I didn't feel comfortable and thus had to forfeit all of my deposit money. I later reached out to see if she would apply to deposit to my baby shower and she basically told me too bad and that she had given me a fair opportunity to use my deposit. Every single one of my wedding vendors happily applied to deposit to my new wedding date (which is now August 2022) except this florist. For sake of just being a good person, don't use her. She will rip you off if given the opportunity. read more

Lilla Bello makes some beautiful, albeit fairly expensive, arrangements. I'm definitely don't use them exclusively . . . but, when I want to make an impression on those most special of special occasions, there's no one else to consider. Their delivery charges have sometimes been prohibitive. For example, they won't deliver to the West Valley absent a courier fee. So, my first purchase from them was actually on location, picking up a few bouquets for Mother's Day. On the other hand, for Valentine's Day this year, I called the place and spoke with the owner Toby about my particular situation and vision. She was very helpful and understanding and gave me the guidance I needed, with an eye toward my budget (OK, so I went a little over!). I guess my point is, if you're going for maximum effect and price is not your primary factor, give Lilla Bello your consideration before looking up 1-800-Flowers or something. read more

I was a June '09 bride with a realistic budget (read: closer to normal, less close to what other brides seem to do,) but, despite my budget, I wanted a dream wedding that would make jaws drop. (In an elegant way, of course.) :) From our first meet, she had me at "of course I can do that," and I had a mad floral crush. I showed her pictures of flowers from a celebrity wedding, and Toby not only interpreted these arrangements to reflect our bridal style, but she made them even more stunning. Every single floral detail of the wedding was stunning, from bouquet to chair garlands, floral pomanders to table arrangements. Drool worthy! Flower crush was right. The best bit? Toby delivered a drop dead gorgeous wedding. You read right: DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! People are still talking about the wedding flowers, and I still daydream about them. sigh. So if you want to hire someone for a wedding or another event with an exquisite taste level, and all within your budget, stop right now and book her before all the celebrities do. The BEST Floral Design Studio in LA!!! I was first introduced to Toby at Lilla Bello Studio when I was the recipient of one of Toby's little floral sculptures. After that I went to Toby when my cousin gave birth to her first child I ordered an arrangement from Toby, that after 3 years, my cousin still talks about. She's been making me look good ever since. I connected with Toby at Lilla Bello through the Bridal Bar and I'm so very thankful for their referral. Toby was great and she was the only florist to provide me an estimate right after our first meeting. She took the time to walk me through it and she was always prompt with updates. I already had very specific ideas as to what I wanted, but I was happy to have Toby's expert opinion on editing out a few internet purchases I made in the wee hours of the night, convinced I wouldn't have enough decor at the wedding. I was happy for the anti-glitter paper intervention (in my defense, it did look pretty when I ordered it on-line at 3am). On the big day, Toby came to my hotel suite while we were getting ready to bring me my bouquet (it was gorgeous) and I was thrilled to see her smiling face. I must admit, the (control-freak) bride in me wanted to go off to the reception site with her to see how things were shaping up. But I managed to control my impulses since no one wants to see a bride in a robe. When my new husband and I walked into our reception, it was stunning. Not only did the flowers look amazing, but Toby had really taken the care to stylize the decor. She arranged the votives, candelabras, crystals, etc. into little vignettes and charming little feasts for the eye. Every room of the venue had special touches and felt perfectly romantic - never under or over done. Yes, Lilla Bello is more costly than average, but what you get is so much more than flowers placed in a venue. You get style and taste, all from the sweetest person who is always smiling. I was very impressed w/ the photos of Lilla Bello's designs I had seen on Yelp, plus the rave reviews from previous clients. then I was impressed w/ Tasha of Lilla Bello from the very beginning---she immediately answered my previous evenings' email when she opened the studio the next morning!!! She has impeccable taste and was the sole reason my late afternoon, neutral-and-green toned beach ceremony looked as perfect as my jewel-toned evening, secret-garden, bohemian-chic reception on a Hollywood rooftop. All of the personal flowers, bouquets and boutonnières were simply bulletproof in design, color, and construction. They withstood hours at the beach and were still looking fresh several days later. The table arrangements were more beautiful than what I could have dreamed up on my own, and all within a very reasonable budget. I kept as many of them as I could after the big day, and was able to keep them in our home for nearly a week where they perfumed everything and helped us decompress after the wedding.
