I went up by myself while my guest waited below. I will say everything is VERY WELL EXPLAINED. You feel extremely safe and are secured by two harnesses. I love how to the tour guides take the time to learn everyone's names. While you're on the edge, the tour guides point out landmarks and explain some history. The guides pose you for individual and group photos. This was very exciting for me, but I wouldn't do it again just because I don't need to. If a friend was paying for my second trip I'd definitely do it though!

Downtown Markham is relatively new. The Pride of Canada carousel took roughly $30 million to create, thanks to a public art initiative and The Remington Group. There are so many cool aspects of this carousel. It is open year-round thanks to it being inside glass walls with a roof. The carousel features 44 characters created by Patrick Amiot, a junk-art sculptor, and painted by his wife, Brigitte Laurent. Daniel Horenberger created the ride's structure. The characters were crafted from recycled and repurposed items collected across Canada. There is a free outdoor skating rink. It's a good location, as there are many places to eat and drink, and warm up afterwards. The carousel requires getting a ticket to ride it. It's $3 for one ride. You save more when you get more tickets. It's $5 for 2 tickets. If you love riding this carousel, go for $20 for 10 tickets, which is the best bang for your money. One of these days, I'll go ride it. It felt quite special to see those animals thriving in the snow. The zoo has many paved paths and signs. They also give you a paper map when you first enter. Since it was winter make sure to enter the inside facilities to see more. The restrooms were warm and clean! They even had a way to call if a restroom needed service. For three adults it was about $96 CAD. We spent probably two hours there and saw almost everything. Although we went on a weekend, it wasn't very crowded (likely due to the cold). It looks like a very well maintained zoo that's only 15 min drive from Little Portugal, Toronto. It was a fun time!

However, we did get very wet and some of the wooden obstacles were quite slippery. I would definitely recommend wearing the right clothes! Wearing grippy running shoes helped get through the obstacle course - even in the rain. And the long pants and long sleeve hiking jacket kept me from getting rope burns. It was overall a good time and would definitely recommend it to other people. The only thing is, we were only able to get through 4/6 courses with a short break in between because we were a bit more cautious than other groups. It took us 4 hours so we ended up getting kicked out in the end because it was only supposed to take 3 hours. I wish they had let us stay a bit longer. 6 courses in 3 hours would only be possible for people who are already quite athletic I think. Otherwise staff were friendly, the orientation at the beginning was helpful, and the snacks are a really good price. I think it was less than $3 for a mini can of Pringles or a small bag of chip nuts. There's also water and popsicles available too. I must've saw at least 1 bike pass me every 3 minutes. The bike trails are endless and smooth. There are multiple huge patches of grass scattered throughout the park sprinkled with small groups of families and friends gathering. Despite how many people are at the park, the place is huge and is able to absorb the crowds that oddly, it never feels crowded. Everyone very respectful of the space, helping to keep it clean. It could also be that there still aren't any food options nearby (besides Cherry Street Bbq across the way). Single file lines outside the restrooms which by the way are fully functional (not portable potties). They're fancy too! These washrooms self-clean and make announcements from within re: when the lights will automatically turn off and when the door will unlock (if I recall corrrctly it was 20 minuites). Not your typical playground with bright play structures and slides. Instead the nature theme can be observed throughout - encouraging climbing poles, walking tight ropes that are low to the ground, and balancing between tree stumps. Multiple sand pits with a sort of badlands theme (red, hilly deep grooves and hills). The sand pits have running water for the ultimate sandbox experience, some even under a canopy for comfortable shade. This park is lively yet so calm. What used to be a large empty space has been transformed into a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Bonus: there was a party at the club nearby and the music can be heard throughout the entire park. It didn't take away from the peaceful experience. Instead, it enhanced it! Tasteful and not too loud but audible throughout. All the park enthusiasts were seen nodding their heads, swaying to all the great songs from Rebel!

My one gripe is the restrooms--they can be a bit messy and definitely need more frequent cleaning/maintenance. The lines can get pretty long (I'm talking 15-min wait) because of both individuals and families that need to use it.
