misscypriana.com- Hi everyone! I had the chance to ride for free last week after donating non-perishable food to the Markham Food Bank.

misscypriana.com - very interesting fun atmosphere for children. There is large seating area to host birthday parties or special events. We get invited there occasionally to twist balloons for kids. A nice educational experience for children, very reasonably priced

Here on Father's Day after dining across the street. It was busy but still lots of room to move, explore and sit at lots of tables nearby. I see why now that having the roof and 3/4 height glass walls is helpful to shade the kids and act as a safety and wind barrier. Each ride piece is super crafty, made with recycled metals & materials. Some move up and down and some are stationary. It's worth visiting just to see the art work such as Mountie-Centaur, the Siren, moose and the dime Blue Nose Ship. The ticket machine wasn't in use today as they had two ride operators there. Kids 2 and under ride free but the adult has to accompany them if under the height line. $2 is a great deal to give this a try!

This is our new hangout! No matter how old you are, you gotta love carousels! We love the design of the Pride of Canada, such a unique work of art. Each piece crafted so uniquely and beautifully made out of recycled and repurposed materials. I love that it's situated inside a glass pavillion - no matter what time of year it is, you can go for a ride! We were most recently there for Canada Day. From 12pm-5pm, the following was free, rides, face painting, balloon twists & treats for the kids. We left and arrived back after 5pm and the ride was still free! Anytime we're out somewhere heading home, we stop by for the kids to have a few rides. It's a fav place for them to visit. Kids 2 & under ride free with a paying adult. $2.00 per ride and there is limited parking available in the parking lot behind the carousel. Otherwise park at the Cineplex theatres just a short walk away.

$2 to marvel at this $10 million, 44 piece art installation is a steal! Oh and it also happens to be a whimsical, fully functional carousel in the heart of downtown Markham. Kids of all ages should take a trip out to see this ingenious use of recycled parts transformed into eye-catching works of art. We arrived at a perfect time (Monday around 2:30 pm) when my hubby and I were the only ones there. We were warmly greeted by the operator and security guard. They were awesome and let me take my time photographing the different sculptures (you need a permit to use a regular camera but not a camera phone). Jim, the lovely operator who has actually met the artist, was a wealth of information and gave me fascinating tidbits about the different pieces (Did you know Superman is Canadian?). Since no one else was around, he offered to give me a personal tour. He is really passionate about the carousal and his job; his enthusiasm is contagious. I took tons of pictures just so I could pore over all the wonderful details of this masterpiece. Shovels as ears, wheels as noses, bolts as fingers and toes, a baseball glove as a cocks comb.....what hidden objects can you find?

The 400th review goes out to this Carousel. Located right in the heart of Downtown Markham, the Pride of Canada Carousel ride has been opened since summer - though I'm not sure if it has been extremely popular since then. It's in an indoorish area, with wide open doors which makes it equivalent with the outdoor temperature. It blocks off the rain though, and has glass doors in one of the sections. I came here during the Winter season, right before the break when they were hosting. It's $2 for a ride in this carousel, even on this cold winter night!! There weren't a lot of people in the line and the staff actually sit outside in the cold weather for this! This is one of the most unique carousels I have ever been on, with metal art encompassing the different things Canada has. I mean, the skates, the school bus, the beautiful ships, everything was a work of art, and to be able to ride on it, and not just stare at these objects from afar, it was super worth it! Since there was no one in line, we were able to take a ton of photos of the ride!! Def recommend coming at least once!

My first thoughts when I heard about this - SO RANDOM. What is this doing in Markham? This is a permanent thing? Then I came here on Canada day (free rides!), and I LOVE it. It's so Canadian - everything about it. The artwork and sculptures have such attention to detail! I watched the carousel go round and round at least a dozen times, and keep finding a new detail of each ride sculpture that makes me laugh - so damn jokes and Canadian LOL. THE MOUNTIE. THE LOBSTER. THE SKIING SLOPE. THE OBNOXIOUS BEAVER AND MOOSE. Definitely worth checking out and riding ($2 a ride on a normal day) I'm glad this was built in Markham now HAHA. Canadian pride indeed. Excited to see how downtown Markham flourishes in the years to come :)

    Bathtub anyone?

This is a cool and unique carousel in the heart of downtown Markham. What makes this merry go round cool is the unique and artistic pieces are hdt you ride on! This is essentially an art installation that is fun for the kids. Ride on cool things such as the Bluenose, moose, telephone, airplane, VW, train, school bus, etc. Take the kids here for a spin after dining across the street!

This is the coolest carousel I've ever seen, and it's nicely kept inside a glass pavilion. Who is the artist behind this eye catching masterpiece? He is Patrick Amiot; an urban folk artist. Come to see this one-of-a-kind art in action! Ride it, touch it, hug it, instagram it or just admire it!! Admission is just $2! "The whole purpose of my work is to glorify these objects, because they have their own spirit," says Amiot. "When a hubcap has traveled on a truck for millions of miles, and has seen the prairies in the winter and the hot summer asphalt, when it's done traveling with that truck and finds itself in the scrap yard and I find it, I kind of like to use that. This hubcap, or whatever piece of metal, from the day it was manufactured until now, has an important history. And I like to think the spirit of all these things lived incredible lives. If they could talk to you, they could tell amazing stories. That's something I don't want to hide." ** Retrieved from http://www.downtownmarkham.ca/community/art/20150511/pride-of-canada-carousel**

Ok it's closed. Nothing on website and no info anywhere. I came here on purpose for this and it's such a disappointment.

Amazing Place for an Evening Stroll…read more Guildwood Park and Gardens is a nice little spot for a stroll. With nicely kept walking paths, gardens, sculptures and an outdoor stage give it a try yourself. It is also home to the Guild Inn Estate, where you book events and rent it out as a banquet facility. We spent the day exploring the water and were looking for somewhere to take a nice walk just before we left the area. This park is connected to other parks and trails along the Scarborough Bluffs. It's good for groups, families, couples, bike riding and the solo traveller. If you're ever in the area check it out yourself.

Located in Scarborough, this is a great place to wander around, sit and take in the views or admire…read morethe numerous sculptures around. Part of the Scarborough Bluffs technically, it tends to be a bit less crowded. I always enjoy coming here and being able to wander the trails close to the cliffs to take in the water views! And on your way there, see the various sculptures, columns and art work scattered throughout the park. Check out online as there are maps/info that will make sure you don't miss out on any of the art works. Many engagement and family photos are done here. There is even the Guild Inn and the event building for weddings/celebrations etc. The park/trails are clean, plenty of open space to chill on a picnic blanket or have the kids run around. Coming here in fall is spectacular as the leaves changing colours makes it lovely. A hidden gem out in the open :) Plenty of free parking!
