We came to skate the trail on a very cold day. It wasn't busy, maybe a dozen people so I could skate fast! The skate trail loops around Gage Park. It's across the street from Brampton city hall. You cant miss that clock tower. We parked on a side street. Walked down the driveway to arrive at the rental building, benches, a playground and the rink entrance. It is free to skate and currently no reservations necessary. Staff onsite monitors safety. The change rooms are heated with rubber floors and 1 toilet and 1 sink. Men and women are separated so I don't know about family access. The ice was very nice, like a mirror. It is zambonied every 60-90min or so. Wonderful spot to skate. I'd love to see the lights at night but i could not handle the cold without the sun! The park could use outdoor heated lamps around the benches. Maybe a hot chocolate pop up?

Gage Park is a multi function park just located right across from Brampton City Hall. This is where most of the festivities: Rib Fest and Classic Cars and Legendary Stars weekend are held annually. During the summer, there are also concerts being held in the gazebo. I love the tall mature trees all around the park which provides a lot of shade. The flower beds are so pretty with so many flowers in their full bloom! In winter, the circular path walkway becomes a skating trail. Gage Park is the oldest park in Brampton, originally opened in 1903.

Lee and I wandered through the park in the winter, when it is transformed from a central town park into an ice skating track. It was really lovely to see people skating around, even late at night, with music pumping on speakers throughout the area. There were skate rentals, at reasonable prices, and a number of food trucks in attendance. It was a nice place to do some people watching after dinner, and skating off your meal. I think the only way it could be improved would be a better walkway for pedestrians, but it's somewhat understandable that there isn't, considering it's the sidewalk that's turned into the ice skating trail. I'll definitely want to visit again in the warmer months.

Right out of a movie based in a small town, Gage Park is a great place for a picnic in the summer, or skating on the path in the winter.

A relatively small park, but right in the heart of downtown Brampton and over a century old.

It was so relaxing walking by the water and through the forest. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold - just right! We walked by many families fishing at the river and also noticed the tree top trekking/zip line above. We want to return to try this next time! There were families having BBQ's at picnic sites which were reserved (guessing you can book them online/through the park ahead of time). They also had a splash pad and pool - wish we brought our bathing suits!! They also had an ice cream truck positioned close to the splash pad and you know we had to get some dipped cones after our hike in the woods. Bring your bills/coins - the truck is cash only. Note, if you have one of the Canada 150 park passes, it does not work for free entry here. For entry for four adults we paid $26. All in all, Heart Lake is a lovely place to visit super close to Brampton.
