Great place for the kids (and adults) if you like to see reptiles!!! All kinds so you will see a little bit of everything! Even a full size Crocodile and a python Not crazy big place but big enough. You can leave and come back and bring your own snacks, a few tables to sit by the shop.

Great Place for Kids and Birthday Parties!! Reptilia Zoo in Vaughan is a collection of Canada's largest reptile zoos and conservation centres where they focus on animal representation, conservation, education, and magical Guest experiences. The facilities host over 250 species of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids from all around the world, representing animals that cannot be found in other Canadian Zoos. Need a cool place for kids to visit or have a birthday party? Look no further than Reptilia Zoo. We booked a room at Reptilia for my son's 8th birthday. The rates to book are very reasonable and can be tailored to your party. The Party booking also comes with options like having reptiles brought to the kids by a reptile specialist to show the kids, and educate the kids and some reptiles can be touched. How cool is that? All kids at the party get to visit the zoo as well. Reptilias staff are very professional, and we had little or no issues. The only snafu we had, was that one of the parties booked before ours had stayed longer and was late leaving the room. No problem for the staff as they cleaned and disinfected our room in minutes. We were a little late getting started but we still had plenty of time for our party. The Zoo itself is an amazing place with so many different types of reptiles and other animals from all over the world. It's a great place for kids and a great place for grownups too. Take your time and enjoy it. It's also a little humid in the zoo so be prepared for that. Did I mention all the cool memorabilia in the gift shop? be sure to check it out before and after your visit to the zoo. If you're looking for something different to do at any time of the year, give Reptilia a shot

    Greetings upon entrance

I've never been to Reptilia until recently and would recommend going for a kid-friendly activity. Make sure to time your arrival when the next show and feeding happens! Perhaps give them a call and find out. It was "take my nieces out" day so the parents could have a break. Most of us haven't been to a Reptile zoo and one of the nieces loves dinosaurs, so why not? While it's mostly for the kids, it's still amusing for adults since where else can you observe an alligator within 1m of you safely? Maybe it's just our nieces (around age 6), they ran through the place without taking the time through each display. We finished the course within 20 minutes and backtracked through. The kids played at their indoor playground and were sweaty afterwards since it could get quite humid inside. The front counter estimated time to enjoy is about 1.5hours. For us by 1 hour the kids are maxed out and ready to go. We came around 2 pm, which is probably the worst time to go since they cancelled the show at 3pm, so the next/last show and feeding were at 4pm and 3:45 pm. The kids couldn't wait long, so they went home with the grandparents. We stuck around later, sat by the bench, and waited for the show and feeding for another half an hour. They fed a large lizard a few dead mice and a couple of eggs. The show is mainly for kids, and you get to pet a turtle, snake, and lizard. Not entirely worth the wait for adults but we were there so might as well check it out. Expect to be next to another person if you're watching a show or feeding. It wasn't too crowded for us, but you are bound to have people next to you watching if you care about that. If the feedings and shows were a regular cadence within the hour would've kept the experience tighter and could pushed this to a 4 star. The gift shop looks to be a bit empty and no pets were available for adoption yet. I wish they stocked up reptile care items like moss so we can buy that for reptile pets, or in my case my plants. They seem to be short staff and the presenter also mentioned they are hiring all positions. So if you're nearby and love to work with reptiles, here's you chance!

My toddler and elementary age kids really enjoyed it. The feeding time and the animal encounter were great....be sure to call to get the times for these before you go. My toddler really enjoyed the little playground inside. The only negative would be that all hand sanitizer containers were empty when we were there, so be sure to bring your own.

This is a great place to bring the kids, or even for a group of teens, young adults or adults to go. There's a large selection of reptiles, from turtles to lizards to alligators and snakes. Based on the physiological interactions with humans and potential element of danger, interaction with alot of the animals is warranted which makes this great for learning. When we were looking at the larger snakes my friends and I had joked around about "the feeding" about to take place, but before I knew it, they were actually prepping a rabbit to be fed to one of the bigger snakes! It was kind of crazy, exciting, but at the same time I didn't think it was appropriate for the little ones we had brought along. Although they had warned the people in the area, this took place in one of the hallways alot of people were walking through and that's the only reason I am giving this place 4/5 - once the feeding started I really wished they stationed someone at the end of each hall to warn them a feeding was in the midst of occuring. All in all, a great place to see and interact with reptiles and insects!

I have been to Reptilia with both adults and little ones and it is always fun and informative. It's worth the trek from downtown Toronto in my opinion. My favorite exhibit is probably the first monitor you see on entering (pic of this guy attached!). The place isn't huge and you can go through it in 20 minutes if you're in a rush. That said, the exhibits are satisfying and worth the cost of admission. Staff are also quite friendly. They have feedings you can view (I haven't viewed one myself), and a variety of reptiles to see as well as turtles to pet for kids. The gift shop is pretty huge and you can walk away with quite pricey little toys for the kids. Tip 1: I suggest coming closer to closing or on a weekend when there is no school class tour going on. I have been here when there are classes and it gets super crowded. Exhibits can be tied up for several minutes until the tour moves. Tip 2: I believe they offer discounts for those with different abilities, such as the visually impaired. So call in ahead to inquire. It's definitely worth a visit!

Kyle and me (Tyler) holding the yellow anaconda at Reptilia in Vaughan.

Dear Reptilia, I certainly wanted to drop a line to give a great review for Kyle the Head Zookeeper at Reptilia in Vaughan. When my mother and I showed up there on my birthday Tuesday February 6th, we were then delightfully greeted by Kyle and when I handed in my resume to him. A little later we met up with him in the Zoo as he was prepping to do the feedings for the animals, and we had a great conversation about the Zoo and its history. I really learned a great amount from Kyle on how the Zoo operates and what it is like to work there. We were then very impressed with how he did the feeding shows for us... especially with the Veiled chameleons, Spiny tailed Iguana, and the Eyelash vipers. In my view, I would have expected something like that to be a hard thing to do in a Zoo environment but I thought Kyle made it look very easy... and enjoyable to watch as well. Kyle then went to incredible great lengths to bring out their large yellow anaconda from the tank for us to hold and have a picture taken with... which was a special request of mine. I was very thankful of him for doing so since it was one of my all time dreams come true to hold an anaconda. My great thanks to Kyle and the whole crew at Reptilia in Vaughan for making the experience for me and my mother a most memorable one on my birthday. Best Regards, from Tyler & Elaine.

The outside of the building doesn't do the place Justice. Upon entering the facility, it is underwhelming but once you go past the zoo entrance, you are greeted with a lot of reptiles. I brought my daughter and two little cousins there and they enjoyed their time there from start to finish. We were even able to pet a few of the animals during show time. Overall fun experience!

I think I am in love... with a Chameleon. I am never a fan of reptile till my first ever visit to Reptilia: a reptile zoo. Reptilia is small but well organized. If you just want to walk through the whole exhibit, it would take you less than 30 minute. And you might be a little disappointed since you paid $15 admission and that's not much to see?! Tip is to check their website for feeding schedule which is usually on a weekend so you can see these predators in action. Watching an albino boa constrictor eating a whole rabbit and crocodiles feeding on fish and lobsters were definitely the highlight of my visit. Listening to a crocodile roar which has an effect of me being in Jurassic Park was priceless! Each hour in the theatre, zoo keeper would have a little presentation of different reptiles and you can even pet them gently! Everyone got a chance to be close and up front with a snake, a baby crocodile or whatever animal they were doing a presentation with! The paid admissions helps in running of the facilities which is well maintained and the animals all looks happy. I just wish the staff would be more straight with their NO flash photography policy. I just feel so sorry for this little chameleon that got flashed numerous of times during the presentation up close. And why would one want to flash a bunch of crocodiles?!

Went to reptilla on one of the first warm sunny Sundays in April. Was told by staff this was a great choice because it wasn't at all busy. Score. There's lots of parking. When you walk in, there's a huge gift shop. Huge. Cost: regular admission $15. That's what I paid. Apparently there are always groupons and stuff. Look for one!! So. Its warm and humid in there since most reptiles live in that environment. All I can think is that the staff that work there must have lovely soft skin because of the humidity. Displays. Lots of snakes, lizards, and turtles, oh my. They have freakin' crocodiles and alligators! We saw a constrictor eat a bunny rabbit. Cool!! The only thing. I was conflicted. They had tiny displays The place is smaller than you think, but has a lot of things to see. Check out the web page for feeding schedules

Reptilia is awesome. Great place to learn about reptiles and other species found in the wild. Plenty of parking and don't miss the live daily alligator feeding - which is pretty awesome.

Why have I never visited this place before?

Living in York Region my entire life I have never seen a place quite like Reptilia, a Zoo...for reptiles only?!?!? I have seriously driven past this place, Rutherford just east of Jane, 1000 times since it opened years ago and nary a visit have I made inside it's doors. Following the lead of my Richmond Hill amigo Alex M, I must say that I agree with how amazing this spot is. Imagine, a full on reptile zoo only minutes from your home. However if there is ever an earth quake and this place spills it's reptile guts into Vaughan, I am getting the EF outta here. I poked my head in today and after asking a bunch of questions about their exhibits and animals a staff member offered to take me through for a quick peak. Almost as soon as we walked through the entrance gates a LOUD throaty growl shook the walls and scared the SHIT outta me... I think I literally peed a little in my CM-underroos. Laugh if you want but after just watchin Jurassic Park in 3D this weekend I am on high alert. The growl ended up not being from a rogue T-rex as my overactive self conscious had me believe, but a very captive American Alligator. Weighing in at 500lbs and 12 feet when it growled again as I walked by, I fully emptied my bowels into my Levi's and moved on. Things didn't get better from there - I mean they did, b/c the exhibits are wicked sweet - but after not so long we moved into the snake exhibit where I learned that all snakes still have their fangs and full venom sack intact... awweeeessseoommmmmeeee :-/ Moving along.... It did take a about 10-15 minutes to walk all the way through the zoo (then again I was power walking and didn't have kids with me to slow me down). But all the exhibits are amazing and the reptiles are so close you can "almost" touch them. If you would like to bring your own scaly friend home, the front 1/2 of this building serves as a pet store for turtles, lizards, snakes and other reptiles for your home. They have literally everything from terrariums and decore, animals, books, food, the works. Casually creeped out, but thinking it's kinda awesome to have this place so close to home

Snakes, lizards, crocs, turtles -- every reptile you can or can't think of, you'll find them here. We took out little niece here recently and she had a blast. The place isn't big and you can go through it in 10 minutes...or you can choose to mozy down the path, greet every little (or not so little) critter that is pretending to be dead most of the time, and take two hour to reach the amphitheatre. Now the theatre is where kids have the most fun. Shows start every 90 minutes or so. The kids get to learn about some exhotic animals and even touch them. Feedings are fun too. The gift store by the exit offers a lot of of opportunities to take a toy reptile home. Again, the place is not big at all but for us it's much easier to get to than Toronto Zoo or Science Centre.

    A good selection of lizards

They have a maximum of 10 people inside at a time (according to their website) however even though we booked a specific time frame, there was pretty clearly more than 10 people inside. Unlike some other zoos we went too, there was no real path to follow. It's basically a giant square with a small square on the inside. The outline of the larger square is filled with fenced in animals, and the inner square has fenced animals as well. Although its understandable they have an admission fee for the upkeep of the animals, I feel it should have included the feed. Other zoos are free admission and only charge for feed (ie. high park) so in terms of value, this is a bit below par. Finally, I would never say the animals are aggressive, however when trying to feed the goats, one of them bit the entire feed bag and ripped it away. As I'm an adult, this is fine as I am agile and athletic, however a small child could have easily gotten injured, so perhaps some more training would suffice.

My son enjoyed looking at the animals but I wish the price was per person so I don't have to pay the same amount even if I have a smaller family.

We were warmly greeted by an employee whom asked if we needed any help with directions when we entered. It was very quick and no line to enter or exit since we bought tickets and parking online. The size of the enclosures actually seems decent. The animals seemed happy. The wolves were playing together in the snow. The polar bears were wrestling. It felt quite special to see those animals thriving in the snow. The zoo has many paved paths and signs. They also give you a paper map when you first enter. Since it was winter make sure to enter the inside facilities to see more. The restrooms were warm and clean! They even had a way to call if a restroom needed service.
