This is about the Philadelphia franchise only, as I cannot opine on any other based on personal experience. DO NOT USE TREMINIX. The local franchise is, in my opinion, a complete fraud. I hired them in August to remove a hornets' nest. Was made to pay over $250 up front. And a monthly fee thereafter for quarterly service. An "Inspector" arrived first, to "scope out a plan of action," because the nest was on a third floor window. He told me he was aregional supervisor, so if i had any problems, i could call him directly, and gave me his card. When someone showed up (first appointment was canceled and changed without informing me), they had no ladder and no hornet nest removal equipment. Ended up coming into the house and spraying part of a can of bug spray through a window, which I had already done myself. That didn't work and the hornets expanded the nest to a second location at the roof line. Two more scheduled appointments for follow up were no-shows. Each time, you wait two and half hours from the two hour window appointment time, and then have to talk to a national customer service line, because you are not permitted to communicate directly with the franchise service provider. And each time you call, you then have to give them 2 business days for a response. NO ONE EVER RESPONDED. I had to spend hours on the phone with the customer service line to set up each subsequent appointment, which the franchise kept blowing off. I of course called the "inspector" multiple times for assistance, as he told me to do, and only ever got voicemail, and never once had any return call or contact from him.
Finally someone showed up six and a half hours after the appointment rescheduled time, and ONCE AGAIN, the tech had no idea it was the third floor, had no ladder, and had no hornet nest removal equipment. AND on top of that, said that they could not kill and remove the expanded nest at the roof line because it was too high. SO, in other words, they could not do what I hired them to do.
He said he would have to escalate the service issue and the supervisor would get back to me. NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME.
The customer service phone line folks, who were always very nice and apologetic, told me the local Philly franchise operator for unknown reasons would not get back to me and would not even respond to the customer service folks when his failures were escalated internally for follow up. Once again, you are not permitted to communicate directly with the actual local service provider. They also told me that the "inspector" who told me he was a regional supervisor was in fact nothing more than an independent salesman. So yet another lie to induce me into entering in t he contract in the first place.
The customer service line folks, after about four weeks of this back and forth and hours on the phone with them, told me my "only option" in light of the franchise's refusal to respond to me or to them was to terminate the contract and they would request the franchise to refund my payment. At the same time, and after three weeks of non-performance, the franchise charged my card the first monthly payment, and so customer service said they would request refund of both payments. SO I terminated the contract on the phone with customer service and got that written confirmation the next day. I also was refunded both the up front $250+ payment and the monthly payment (about $46).
THEN, I finally heard from the local franchise, who started sending late payment notices and texts and phone calls to get back the money I had just been refunded. They are now claiming that they performed their part of the contract on the first visit by uselessly spraying part of a bug spray can that didn't work, and are threatening me with harm to my credit report if I don't pay them back what was already refunded to me. And the customer service line says that they cannot do anything if the local franchise wants to be paid.
While I waste more of my time on this nonsense, please use GREENIX. One call, a set appointment time, and they took care of the problem in one visit, completely equipped to remove the hornets' nests on the third floor and at the roof line. Problem solved, but not by the fraudsters (in my opinion) at the Philly Terminix franchise. read more
