A quick Google search and Yelp search rendered that Prodigy Pest Solutions was the way forward. Unfortunately for me, this discovery of mine occurred on the evening of July 3rd, so it took me a while to get someone out to take care of it, but Prodigy came as quick as they could. They also said that bald-faced hornets were some of the more aggressive hornets out there, so to be careful around them. Given everything, it was a terrific service. Decent value for what they do. Killed all the hornets. Said they'd sort it out if they didn't. I'd happily use Prodigy again!

A lil long review (be warned lol)…read more Last year, my neighbors and I had a problem with ground wasps in our front yards. We tried DIY solutions (soapy vinegar water in the holes at night, apple cider vinegar & mint spray) but nothing really worked. So we just dealt with it. A year later (now) we're dealing with these scary wasps again and this time it seems like there are more of them and they spread across five different houses! We're on a rowhome block as many Philly neighborhoods are. Anyway, my one neighbor called a different exterminator service but the spray they used didn't seem to work as effectively. In my household, we got a recommendation from a friend to call Harpoon and we did. Quincy, the exterminator, told us over the phone that those wasps were cicada ground wasps - ugh - and said the best way was to spray inside of the holes that they dig. When they go back to the treated holes, they'll eventually die. He promised to come the next day and so he did. He gave an overall check in our backyard and front yard for nests and said he'll be back the following day to treat. Quincy came back and took down an old wasp nest in the backyard. In the front yard, he did two treatments - one with a concentrated sprayer and another one with this high-powered ghostbusters-like backpack sprayer (or as my sister calls it, a supercharged turbo blaster) lol. He was thorough, even going on the grass spraying into holes while these things were flying around! The next morning when I left out, I saw dead wasps on the ground while some were still flying around. When I got back home from work hours later, I saw NO wasp flying around in our yard - only in the untreated yards nearby. He said to give it a few days to a week and they would be gone from our yard. My daughter was hearing some critters scurrying around in the ceiling of her upstairs rooms. She…read moresays it was mostly in the morning. I was trying to help her find an exterminator to help. I decided to look on Yelp, because they have helped me find contractors before. I chose Pest Medics because they responded within a hour. They also (responding through text) told me their range of pricing and could come out the next day. I'm assuming Javan is the owner of the company. Him and another worker came within their window of time. They were very cordial to us as they entered. They listened to my daughter explain the issues she was having. They walked through the house (inside and out) inspecting where the critters could be coming in and out of. They finally found one of the entry points near the roof. They explained about the one way gate like thing they put up to let (we think it was squirrels) out, but could not get back in. My daughter was impressed that there was not cruelty to the animals. She just wanted them out of her house. All in all, it took the a total of 45 minutes to complete the job. Not mentioning the price, they charged the top of the range they gave her. There was no paperwork to show what was done. Just a receipt for the job (on her phone) and a 30 day verbal guarantee for the work they had done. This is were the stars started coming off!! About a week had passed and my daughter was still hearing squirrels in the roof. She called Javan and company to come back out because the problem was still there. They made a appointment to come back two days later with a no show and no call. My daughter call them within a half hour left within that window of time they were suppose to have come out. Javan telling her he got tied up with another job and could they reschedule. He knew he was tied up before that phone call. It is to easy to text or call someone. That is so rude, to waste someone's time....looking for you to come. They did reschedule though. The same thing happened again, only this time he called her when there was only a half hour left with in his scheduled window, saying he needed to reschedule. At this point we felt he had her money, so she goes on the back burner. After a few harsh words, he followed up and showed up soon after. They reinspected her property, sealed in some additional entery points. Later, came back to get their cage and seal in the entry points in the roof. Seems like the problem is solved. I don't like giving bad reviews, but they wasted her time twice. They didn't do a bad job, just be warned if you decided to go with Pest Medics.

The guy who seems as far as I can tell to be the only employee, said he wasn't sure he was allowed to discuss that with me and had to have his manager call me. It was a huge red flag because all pest control people who are licensed should know that they are required by law to not only tell you what chemicals they use, but show you the labels of their chemicals as well as their license number before providing a service. I told him there was no way I was going to let him spray in my house.
