Let me save you from being scammed by the shadiest exterminator I've ever encountered. This…read morebusiness flat out stole $300 from me and then secretly took off without providing any service. The technician who came to my home taped my front door open with sticky pads as if he was coming right back, then peaced out and blocked my number. The coordinator, Stephanie, blocked my number as well, the second she received payment (then later unblocked it after realizing that iphones display texts in green when someone has blocked you.) Zero pest removal was done. I had to file a fraud report with Thumbtack since that's where I originally hired this company -- they are in the process of banning them from operating there. You see, this does not come down to a "they said, she said" case. I had home cameras operating throughout the entire 10-minute "visit" before the technician took off without a word. Before doing so, he trashed my living room, scratched my walls, and pulled off paint by carelessly throwing sticky pads all over. I thought this would be a simple extermination job. There was nothing daunting or unclean about my home that could have caused the technician to bolt without saying a word. The business has taken zero accountability. Given that theft and property damage have occurred with ample video evidence, I've decided to file a police report and take legal action. Wish I would have read the reviews from others here first, as I can see that property damage is a pattern with these guys. Update: After posting an honest review of my experience with this business on Thumbtack, the business retaliated by publishing a public reply that threatened to sue me over my review and posted my full name, address, and personal phone number. It was immediately taken down by Thumbtack. Thumbtack has sanctioned Wardoff & Son for their unprofessional conduct and issued a full refund after reviewing all of the video footage I provided along with the supporting documentation. Please be aware, if you have a negative experience with this business and take the time to share a straightforward review, they may retaliate by threatening you and posting your address and other personal contact information on their page.

I should have cut bait when I overheard one employee complaining to another about having to give me options and pricing info. Considering that they were trying to get me on the hook for over $700 in treatments right off the bat, I think I have the right to ask a few questions. I persisted so I wouldn't have to start the process again with another company, and the service was fine for a few treatments, but then things went downhill. A couple of things would greatly improve their service: 1) telling people ahead of time when to expect a treatment, as in a specific date, and 2) allowing people some flexibility in scheduling. As it stands, you get a very generic email saying to expect a treatment sometime in the next few days. In my experience, that could mean same day treatment or next day or day after or day after that, etc. They also have no ability to further space out your treatments if that's what you'd like. They see every 3 weeks as the optimal time frame and you really don't get a choice about that. I wish I had known before I signed up with them. I thought I had opted to have three sprays over the course of the summer. What I got instead was three sprays over the course of 9 weeks or about half the summer. So bottom line, if you can't or don't want to go with their six treatment plan, you will not be able to spread your treatments out over the summer. I spoke with the owner about this issue, but he kind of laughed it off, said that people complain about that, and told me how I can't imagine how difficult it is to do all the scheduling in his business. So, yeah, helpful. We also had a time when they both sprayed the wrong thing and sprayed our vegetable garden, which they had been instructed not to do. When I contacted customer service about this, they told me that the invoice said the right thing was sprayed and that they had instructions on file to not spray the garden, so they wouldn't have. I let them know that my husband witnessed it and that the characteristic smell of the correct spray was not present. The owner called me, owned up to the mistakes, apologized, and provided an additional spray at no cost. I really appreciated that he made the effort. Trouble is, they sprayed the wrong thing on that free spray too. I let them know once again - not to complain, but just because it seems that they have an issue with getting things right that they should address for the sake of all their customers. Given my experiences, I don't plan to be a customer going forward.

A lil long review (be warned lol)…read more Last year, my neighbors and I had a problem with ground wasps in our front yards. We tried DIY solutions (soapy vinegar water in the holes at night, apple cider vinegar & mint spray) but nothing really worked. So we just dealt with it. A year later (now) we're dealing with these scary wasps again and this time it seems like there are more of them and they spread across five different houses! We're on a rowhome block as many Philly neighborhoods are. Anyway, my one neighbor called a different exterminator service but the spray they used didn't seem to work as effectively. In my household, we got a recommendation from a friend to call Harpoon and we did. Quincy, the exterminator, told us over the phone that those wasps were cicada ground wasps - ugh - and said the best way was to spray inside of the holes that they dig. When they go back to the treated holes, they'll eventually die. He promised to come the next day and so he did. He gave an overall check in our backyard and front yard for nests and said he'll be back the following day to treat. Quincy came back and took down an old wasp nest in the backyard. In the front yard, he did two treatments - one with a concentrated sprayer and another one with this high-powered ghostbusters-like backpack sprayer (or as my sister calls it, a supercharged turbo blaster) lol. He was thorough, even going on the grass spraying into holes while these things were flying around! The next morning when I left out, I saw dead wasps on the ground while some were still flying around. When I got back home from work hours later, I saw NO wasp flying around in our yard - only in the untreated yards nearby. He said to give it a few days to a week and they would be gone from our yard. Welp, I believe him already - thanks so much Quincy!

By pure luck, I spotted and trapped a sampling of what ended up being termites swarming between my kitchen and storm windows. Al's came out immediately and advised on a course of action, and we scheduled the termite treatment. At the same time as the consultation, we had the basement treated for sewer roaches that began making the occasional appearance. All advice was made while being mindful of our dog. Great tips for prevention of all the common pests were shared. This all occurred a year ago. Without a doubt, Al's Pest Control's advice and treatment was spot-on. The termite treatment was effective, and I have not seen ANY bugs anywhere in the house since then. The dog is still alive and healthy. They will be coming back soon for a followup termite inspection. I highly recommend Al's for their honest and effective service.

Today we had a major incident in our sunroom. It was infested with insects with wings, I mean they were everywhere and there had been no sign of them until today! Instead of coming out and charging us a whole lot of money for treatment Al had my dad describe the particular insects and their features and had us take pictures to send him.
