The worst massage I've experienced. The masseuse spent 1/2 of the massage slowly and barely squeezing my fingers and stretching them. I ordered a Swedish massage and at time I could barely feel his massage. He also did a bunch of leaning against me and pushing softly. Came in for a gel mani and regular pedi. Service menu says they offer gel soak off but the nail tech said they don't offer this and they haven't updated their menu. So just a regular pedi. Nail tech cut my toe nails too short to the point filing hurt. Felt like she was just filing my skin down. She didn't ask how short I wanted them either. Would've rather just had her file and not cut. Nail tech said she could do art (flower on big toe) but after evaluating skill level, I opted out. Nails are uneven and big toe didn't get painted fully. I also had to ask for a wet towel to wipe all residual scrub after polish was done. Nail tech was nice, skills could be improved. I didn't experience massage but from my 45 min of sitting and listening to clients, sounds like someone was skipped for a massage and 2 massage therapists were discussing the money in the drawer. The nail tech told me she couldn't do a french manicure which isn't the end of the world, but she also wasn't able to do an almond shape. She had a very difficult time using the nail clippers and nail file, and gave me completely different shapes on both hands. She cut off weeks of growth, down to my skin, and I ended up having to file my nails myself. I left after she spilled the water bowl on me, before she started with the polish. read more

I just had the worst massage ever. I have used this spa in the past and had a great experience. This time, I'm quite sure the person who did the massage was not licensed. There is no way he is trained in chair or any other type of massage. He spent most of the time sitting in a chair and poking my sides a little and playing / squeezing my hands. This spa is 1st come 1st serve. We had hours to wait for our flight and decided to see what was available. The very sweet receptionist said Lori (nail technician) was already booked but they had openings for jet lag leg massage and my son's legs were hurting from our earlier flight. So he got the massage first. As I was waiting for my son I was talking story with Lori as she waited for her client. She is a very skilled and knowledgeable nail technician. I have been doing nails for 22 years so we had lots to discuss. My son and I received massages from Nathaniel and he also was very good and knowledgeable. We were very happy with our services. Why in the world have I never done this before?! At the end of a week long trip between Portland & Seattle, my bestie and I were complaining of neck pain. We wished there was a quick option to feel a bit of relief. We stumbled upon Terminal Gateway Spa at the Seattle Airport and it was just was the Dr ordered! Literally, since my bestie is an anesthesiologist. It was popping at there but we were able to get in about 25 minutes later at the same time for 10 minute Swedish massages. I've done many massages but not too many chair massages. Let me tell you, targeting my shoulders and neck pain was perfect in the seated chair position. My masseuse got my kinks out in the best way possible. We both felt SO good after just 10 minutes and were so thankful we did this. Is it the worst massage I've received? No. Is it the cheapest massage I've received? Also no. Will I come back? An emphatic no. The front desk was not friendly. The massage therapist admitted he had to google Swedish Massage (red flag!). The only choices are Swedish and Deep Tissue and I told him I opted for Swedish as I usually get deep tissue and then chug water but didn't want to do that before a 5 hour flight. He said he doesn't tell anyone to drink water after a massage (red flag!) and didn't know what I was talking about in regards to the release of toxins (red flag!). I guess others there could be better...he was only one this time. I wouldn't chance it again. Monique did my nails and she was wonderful to talk to and has real depth as a person so it was really nice to connect and talk with her while I got my nails done. In this day and age you have to expect business to be able to close and there to be a limited work force but one must recognize their work is quality and I think they treat their customers well. I did read ahead and make sure to come in with no polish. I loved treating myself to a manicure dying an 8 hour layover. read more

Despite it being located in the middle of an airport, I was actually REALLY impressed by this place. I had a basic manicure done for $25. I didn't have a reservation but they were able to schedule me in almost immediately. The whole process took maybe half an hour. My nail technician was professional, polite, and made sure that I would make my flight in time (she asked me when my boarding time was). Not only that, but the manicure was gorgeous AND long-lasting! It's now about the two week mark and I'm probably going to remove the polish soon, but it barely chipped whatsoever. I've had my nails done before at standalone nail spas which didn't last for half as long. The atmosphere of the spa was also very peaceful, despite it being located right next to some busy gates. Very impressed! If I ever have time to spare waiting for a flight at Sea-Tac, I'm definitely coming back. read more

Two stars because I had two services - went in for a manicure and ended up with a massage as well since I had time. Cliff notes version is mixed reviews (3 stars) with the exception of the bubbling polish (down to 2 stars). The Good: - I was able to be fit in right away for a manicure (Friday morning around 9:15). - Monique was pleasant, we had a few laughs but otherwise sat in silence. It was odd but kind of nice, since it was an early morning for me and I wasn't quite awake. - After I was done with my manicure, She looked over at the massage chairs, saw one was open, asked me if I wanted a massage and got me in (as in I didn't have to ask the front desk). - Nathaniel was very talkative and did great in short 20 minutes. Felt much better after. He really went above and beyond for the previous client, showing him some stretches and exercises to do with an exercise band. He clearly seemed to enjoy massage therapy. - Massage was busy! I heard one person had to cancel their appointment due to time but all clients seemed very happy after their session was done. - I liked how their service menu really showed the length of time it took; very geared toward you making your flight on time. The Bad: - Their gel selection is pretty minimal. Maybe a misunderstanding, but I thought they said gels were on the bottom (vs two other shelves), but it was even more specific to the *black bottles* instead of the *bottom row*. Monique gave me a pointer (after I picked normal polish the first round) that they were the ones you can't see the color of (unless you open it). I guess I've never used true GEL polish, so take this with a grain of salt. It *was* an option to use the other polishes if I had more time. I should have asked how much more time, but that's a moot point. - I felt a little pushed into a massage (as in, not much time to check my nails), but was thinking about one anyways. I also felt a little rushed out but it's an airport business, what do you expect? Also it's fairly typical for a nail business to add services so I can't say I was surprised. It struck me as odd how much Monique lightened up when offering other services compared to the relative silence before. - Front desk also wasn't as excellent as I had expected based on previous reviews, but nice. The Ugly: - See photos attached - both of my thumb nails had large bubbles underneath. I admit I have oddly surfaced thumb nails but I've never had this issue before. I could push the bubbles around and couldn't find an entry point. I finally "popped" one and found a large air bubble with still wet polish underneath. Same for both nails. I didn't notice a problem until I had arrived at my destination and later that night as well - but still can't imagine what would have caused that. This review goes out to the amazing team at the Terminal Getaway Spa across from Alaska gates A3/4. I cannot speak highly enough about their professionalism, excellent service, and genuine kindness. A bit of context regarding my recent visit to the Spa: I walked into the Spa on a Thursday evening after a particularly rough week (I was traveling cross country to attend a funeral) that culminated in a nightmarish travel day of missed connections and unsuccessful standby attempts. I was emotionally ragged and physically drained by the time I sat down at the pedicure station. My nail technician, Monique, gave me a fabulous pedicure. Although I was her very last appointment of the day, she took her time and gave me an excellent treatment. In addition, Monique was just a lovely person; she was professional and also friendly and genuine. We chatted during the pedicure and by the time my treatment was finished, I felt much more refreshed. I also opted for a 20-minute neck and back massage and was fortunate enough to have Shea as my masseuse. Shea gave an excellent massage; I could tell immediately that he had an understanding of the body and took pride and care in his work. He was extremely professional but also very personable. At the risk of sounding corny, I can honestly say that when the massage was over, I was less tense and less stressed, both physically and emotionally. My wonderful experience with the Spa didn't end there. After I had boarded a flight to my final destination, I got a call from the Spa stating that they had found two necklaces that I had absent-mindedly left next to the massage chair. I was definitely flustered, particularly because I was not connecting through Seattle on my return trip back to the east coast. Any concern I had completely vanished because Shea (my masseuse) and the staff made sure my necklaces were safely stored. Shortly after, the Spa manager, Michelle, personally mailed them to my home. I am so appreciative of Shea and Michelle who went out of their way to ensure my jewelry was returned to me. I don't typically write lengthy reviews like this one, but the people I encountered at the Terminal Getaway Spa were exceptional and deserve to be recognized for their professionalism, great work, and kindness. As I'm reading the menu to determine the service prices and time length options, I watch 2 employees clock out for break. Upon checking in with the receptionist (as the girls are walking out) she tells me it'll be a 30 min wait because no therapists are available right now. (Um...? Because they both just left together....?) Now granted, I don't know that the 2 people who left for break were both massage therapists, and surely they deserve to take their lunch if they've been working all day, but there weren't exactly any other massage therapists working the chairs at the time I walked up, which indicates to me that the manager allowed the facility to be left unstaffed because they weren't busy, but because they suddenly became unstaffed before my eyes I didn't get to do the massage treatment within the time window I could do it before my flight began boarding. LAME. You are a service based business, if you are gonna be open, then have people available to perform your services, otherwise close. A few months late, but oh well! SeaTac was our first layover as we were on our way home for the holidays and we happened to walk by the Terminal Getaway Spa. Since they had a couple of openings and we had another 2 hours till the next leg of our trip, we figured we would do a 30 min chair massage. Shea was our therapist and I fully expected to have another decent massage like we have gotten at other airports. As it turns out, Shae does not provide just a "decent" massage but more of an AMAZING one! With constant upper back and neck pain due to work, it was great to be able to travel without any pain. I usually prefer a massage from women, but on Monday, I was experiencing a lot more soreness than when I usually come in, so I requested a guy this time and got Nam, I hope I spelled his name correctly. Nam was very knowledgeable and quick to find essentially every knot he could get to. It didn't take long for him to pin point where I was experiencing pain or areas that needed work. His technique was fantastic and if I seemed uncomfortable, he would check in with me or let me know if I had to relax and breathe. At the end of the massage I felt refreshed and like I could sleep for a week straight. He even answered some questions I had and gave me tips for self-massage. I'm surprised this guy isn't traveling around with professional sports teams massaging Lebron James or something, hes seriously good. This was honestly one of the best looking manicures I have received in a long time. Often, even if the spa experience is great I leave wishing the quality of service was better. This was not the case here. I arrived and put my name on a list showed up and they were ready for me. The nail technician was so wonderful, she was kind, and we had great conversation throughout the entire time I was there. Not only that but I walked away again with the best looking manicure I have gotten in a long time. I went to the location beside Terminal A. I had the chair massage. The guy giving massage was a Korean man. He seemed nice and said I was really tight in my shoulders & lower back. He said since he can do table instead. Stupid me I thought, maybe it was bec I gave a good tip (20%) plus it was a slow day, that he must be just helpful wanting to relieve my back. It felt odd though that he had to slide the door from the entrance closed since the place should still be open for other customers. I should have followed my gut at that time & left. Feel so dumb now saying that out loud. He had me on my stomach and he did a good job on my lower back. Then he had me lay on my back. He had my arm pulled up and massaged my armpit then he proceeded to push on my shoulders, upper chest & then my breasts. He thought he distracted me with his small talk but I knew what he was doing the whole time. He had a creepy smile on his face the whole time he was talking, he thought I did not notice his perversion. I got scared but did not want to show it for fear that he might become aggressive, so I just got up, and said thank you. I feel traumatized, violated. I wanted to get out of there quickly. I am just thankful that it didn't go any further, felt so unsafe after that. I actually hate myself not seeing the signs. My usual massage therapist was an man so I thought It was okay.
