This place is my go to teriyaki spot. I feel their portions are much better than other teriyaki places and their staff is friendly too. In addition, their service is very fast! The food pretty much came out right as I sat down! Ingredients are fresh and quality is solid. Great place to grab a quick lunch.

I honestly don't understand the low ratings -- this place is SO good. I ordered takeout from Teriyaki Madness and was seriously impressed from the first bite. The noodles were delicious, the chicken fried rice was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the steamed veggies were fresh and crisp. The fried pot stickers were amazing too -- crunchy, flavorful, and cooked just right. But the real star? The beef teriyaki made spicy... WOW. So flavorful, perfectly sauced, and just the right kick. Absolutely incredible. My order was packed to the rim -- they do NOT skimp on portions. And what really blew me away... by the time my food got to me, it was still super hot. That never happens with takeout! So impressive. Their packaging says "crazy delicious," and honestly... it truly is. Everything tasted fresh, hot, and full of flavor. I'll definitely be ordering again!

We ordered individual catered meals for our team lunch and I love how each item was carefully labeled! Made it much easier to figure out which meal belonged to who. Each meal came with extra teriyaki sauce cups, hot sauce, a utensil and napkins. I had the regular chicken teriyaki with white rice and veggies. I enjoyed it! Great flavor and even better portion. The bowl size seemed like a standard portion but the bowl was packed in and had a lot of food. Teriyaki madness was a hit for our group!

Fast, friendly service, large portions. Chicken was cooked too perfection with a good portion of vegetables.

Food was fantastic!! It was so nice to have FRESH ingredients with quality. The men who helped me figure out my order were wonderful! 10/10 service and fast! The restaurant was extremely clean!!! I would 100% recommend!

Delicious teriyaki chicken bowls. Highly recommend. If you get extra protein added you have dinner and lunch for the next day.

The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated right away. The vibe inside was authentic feeling Japanese style, smallish with several tables and sushi bar seating. My chicken oyakodon was a bowl of cozy comfort to me. It was topped with two slices of yellow pickled daikon. I'm sure it was homemade daikon, not like what you get in a jar from Tokyo Central. We were served their delicious miso soup as a starter. My sister ordered beef teriyaki and tempura. She said it was good. The restaurant started filling up as we ate our meal. A good sign of good authentic Japanese is when you see a lot of Japanese/Asians filling up the place, especially older people (haha, like me), because you know they know well prepared authentic. And that's the crowd that was coming in. Located in a busy center with limited parking, it must get crazy busy later in the evening because the sign outside the entrance says where to form the line. Anyway, my oyakodon and miso soup was so good!

And I tried to savor every bite. I love when restaurants give you the Ama Ebi fried head, this place takes the cake for me. Wasn't too greasy at all! I thought presentation for delivery wasn't too bad and the size of the cut for the rolls weren't messy and uneven. At first the chefs were not even in the bar area. When they finally arrived they were more interested in online orders instead of preparing food for customers who are right infront of them. (I see other reviewers have also experienced the same) We were not happy, when discussing whether to leave instead of continue to wait, the owner kept looking at us and never once came over to see how to mediate the situation. We finally flagged the server and told them to cancel everything. The owner said "Oh no, they are leaving?" Very rude, of course we left we had been seated an hour and did not receive any food! We could see the chef area they didn't even START making our food. I can understand it was late, but if you do not have the hands on deck do not offer a seat to customers looking to dine in. I am not sure why I am surprised, years ago I tried to eat here and had a terrible experience. About 4 years ago I walked in to get a table for one and the female owner kept looking at me and walking away. I was waiting probably 20 minutes at the front desk, and gave up since no one acknowledged me (other than uncomfortable glares from the owner.) Terrible service. Stay away, much better sushi in the city, not sure why we decided to go here, but will not make that mistake again.

It's a little different from the more traditional cold soba with a standard dipping sauce. Instead, you dip the soba into a warm, savory broth with duck, and that's exactly what makes it so memorable for us. Neither of us are normally huge fans of duck, but we are obsessed with it here. The broth is incredibly flavorful, and paired with their soba, it's amazing. We haven't found anything else quite like it nearby. We also really enjoy their tempura. The breading is light and crispy, and it pairs perfectly with the soba. Another thing we love is that you can get free refills of the soba noodles, and they definitely don't skimp on the refill portions either. Our most recent visit was especially memorable because of our server, Patty, who was incredibly kind and made an already great experience even better. Definitely have to give a shoutout to her! Overall, we absolutely love Soba Izakaya Minami and always look forward to coming back. The Duck Dipping Soba alone keeps this in our regular rotation and is something I'd definitely recommend trying.

FYI -- no photos because we were busy with a cranky toddler. First, the service was genuinely great. The sweetest lady helped us with the menu and served our food, and we really appreciated her kindness. We were also given complimentary edamame, which was thoughtful, although it was bland, dry, and cold -- almost like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. Since it was complimentary, we didn't think too much of it. For the mains, we ordered the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki bento specials. Unfortunately, both proteins were sliced extremely thin. The chicken especially had a jerky-like texture, and both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. After reading other reviews, they had similar experience. The teriyaki sauce itself was also pretty bland. The tempura was okay, but the tempura dipping sauce tasted watered down and lacked the usual savory depth you'd expect. The one standout was the roll topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna inside. It was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and well-balanced. Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.
