Veggie Kabob
Lydia V.

Delicious! Popped in while in Mission Viejo area. Restaurant is small and has seating inside and out. Menu is small which is probably why their food is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are bathrooms and they are clean. I ordered the veggie kabob plate with grilled tomatoes. The plate came with basmati rice and half of a pita. I ordered a side of the tzatziki and it came with the other half of my pita. ;-) Definitely recommend this place if you're around and looking for fresh food fast! They have an open kitchen so you can hear and see the staff working. You can also hear the veggies roasting on the grill! They use mesquite wood for grilling so the food is flavorful. I asked for butter for my rice and a packet of sumac. Enjoy!

Lunch special
Mike N.

Mission Viejo, Ca. Stopped in for lunch, and they had a lunch special that made my selection easy. The first thing I noticed was the unique taste of the chicken, it has a great flavor from the wood they cook it on. It is also very moist and cooked in a way that is not grilled, yet thoroughly cooked. Lots of rice provided as a filler. This is needed because there simply is not nearly enough chicken to satiate. I might come back because of how good the chicken is. I might try another meat. It might be awhile though.

Juicy chicken and their spice is amazing. Very good will go back. Fresh food great environment.

The LUNCH SPECIAL... $9.99 Monday thru Friday Until 3pm.

All are welcome - you don't need to be a golfer. My waitress was Laurrie, who was very attentive and sweet. She knows how to make a diner feel comfortable and welcome. I was seated on the covered terrace with a beautiful view of the well-manicured golf course. I ordered the pain perdu (french toast) with a side of bacon and a cup of coffee. The coffee was good, solid, but nothing out of the ordinary. The smokey bacon (4 strips) was fantastic, hitting that sweet spot of being partly crisp and partly chewy. The pain perdu was up with the best; vanilla-battered thick-cut challah bread with strawberries. The thick, pillowy bread is what made it great. Each slice looked chunky but was so soft and easily soaked up the syrup like a sponge. The sliced strawberries were vibrant with the perfect texture and flavor you hope for. If you want a delicious breakfast in a quiet, relaxed setting, this is the place.

Service was very friendly, nice, and attentive... and they serve decent portioned dishes of "seasonally inspired cuisine" of mainly delicious looking sandwiches, flatbreads, and salads. I ordered the California tuna melt, my wife ordered the Cheeseburger, and our friend ordered the BLTA sandwich.... each with a choice of their houses fries or chips. Ooooh, such a hard choice as we love both... so we ordered some of both. The tuna melt was really good....took me a bit by surprise with chopped pickled jalapeños, but it definitely gave a nice punch and heat to a usually pretty simple flavor. And as for those house chips...yummee! Very addictive. Everybody else really enjoyed their orders too, but then again, coming here was all about the entire experience of great views, a peaceful, relaxing, uncrowded atmosphere to enjoy great company with good friends.... and very good service. I'm now a huge fan of this place and will definitely be back. In fact, I'd consider this place a hidden gem that, thankfully, I think not many people know about yet..... hope it stays this way :)

This time, I tried the Chancho En Cama with avocado in a gluten-free wrap, served with fries and Serrano sauce. It had a nice sweet-and-savory combination. The sweetness comes from the charred mashed sweet potato, while the roasted shredded pork shoulder, lime-marinated red onion, cilantro, and yellow pepper aioli bring in the savory flavors. Adding avocado was a nice touch too. Service: 5/5 I ordered takeout for lunch, this time but everything went smoothly with my order. I remember we had lunch at the restaurant and the owner and staff were friendly. Location & Parking: 5/5 Located in a large Foothill Ranch shopping plaza with plenty of parking around the area. Ambiance: 5/5 From what I remember, the inside has more of a bar-like setting with a moderate noise level. Casual and fitting for a lunch or quick meal. Overall: 5/5 Mamon has an interesting variety of sandwiches and flavor combinations that you don't see everywhere. Between my old go-to Choripan and trying the Chancho En Cama this time, there are still plenty of other menu items that give me a reason to come back!

It was a late lunch for us, and so the place was nearly empty with the exception of one other group. We scanned the QR code at the front counter and took a seat at a table to review the menu. It was a little difficult to navigate and some items did not have pictures. The gentleman who helped us was just friendly enough to go over some of the menu items. But after we placed our order, we never saw anyone again. We ordered the pork shoulder sandwich called Chancho en Cama. We split the sandwiches so that we could try two different kinds. We both really loved the flavor profile of the pork sandwich. I really enjoyed it and wish I had a whole sandwich of this one! We also had the Philly Me Up sandwich. This one was a miss for us, definitely. This was pretty bland and just didn't compare to the deliciousness of the pork sandwich. Our sides were good, which included french fries, and roasted cauliflower. The portions are pretty small for the price point of the food. We'd probably stop by again to try other items if we were in the area.
