When we mentioned our dissatisfaction, there was no offer to replace or substitute it. The room was packed for a Tuesday night. Getting a reservation was a chore, and they pushed hard to seat us at the sushi counter despite our clear preference for a table (which we eventually secured). Service was noticeably off. Our server seemed brand new, was unfamiliar with the menu, and remained inattentive throughout the meal--to the point that I had to physically get up at the end of dinner just to track down the check. For a $190 tab with automatic 20% tip added in, we expected dialed-in hospitality. It feels like operational fatigue is beginning to set in.

I wanted something super quick and yet something of quality (as I was headed my way to my side hustle later in the afternoon.) Asuka Ramen and Poke, all of a sudden, hit me with a thought, "It's been a while since I last used them for a good poke bowl." In a way, it was an opportunity for me to appreciate it for the first time in a while so I did just that. They use a deep (large) bowl for the Build Your Own poke bowl (this is the only size) for to-go. When I asked for "half and half" for the base (white rice and greens), the young man behind the ordering counter generously pressed the white sushi rice into it. He then placed some green leaves on one side of it. "Looking good" I thought. For the protein, I chose salmon, tuna and yellowtail. For the rest (such as sauce etc.) I don't quite remember what I got me and yet, this young man sure wasn't anything close to "stingy" (lol)! As to show his appreciation for my business, he built my bowl with precision and generosity. I like the fact that they have one size for to-go poke bowl (this simplifies the process on their end and our end.) At the flat rate of $16 (unless you get additional protein which is $3) is also reasonable for the size. I got the impression that this is a business that they simply don't operate for profit; they operate for the social responsibility's sake. And of course, this above-and-beyond young man didn't fail to forget to ask me if I would need utensils or drink. He gave me everything I would need. Once I got to my job site, I parked my car in the parking lot and started devouring my beautifully tailored (to my preferences) bowl. The fresh ingredients, the way it was built, and the overall volume of it, it was impossible for me to find a single reason why this was one of the best poke bowls I've had in the recent few months. That was when I came to appreciate how lucky I am to live just up the street from this tiny and yet mighty poke place. I need to visit this place more going forward.

The service was great and very attentive and accommodating, I think we would have had a different opinion if we hadn't gone inside. They have two dinning area's, one with white table cloths, and one thats like a dark speak easy. We were relaxed and wanted a less formal area so we chose the bar area. Thats when we noticed that all the waitresses were scantily dressed in reviling black cocktail dresses. We were already committed at this point so we ordered dinner. Again, the food was really good, but as we looked around there were a lot of single middle aged men eating alone. This only added to the gentlemen's club vibe. Looking in the more formal dinning area as we left, the waitresses there had a more standard uniform. Like I said earlier on, we didn't know what to make of the over all experience. Unfortunately, instead of remembering this evening for the right reasons, we left feeling extremely disappointed. We have dined at JING several times before, which is exactly why we chose to bring our friends here for such an important celebration. From the beginning, the service was incredibly disappointing. It took approximately 15 minutes after being seated just to place our drink orders. What followed was even more frustrating: our drinks were brought incorrectly not once, not twice, but THREE times. By the time we finally received the correct drinks, approximately 40 minutes had passed since we were seated. The manager approached our table to apologize and assured us that our server would return shortly to take our food order. Unfortunately, that "shortly" turned into another 15-minute wait. On a positive note, the food was excellent. We all particularly enjoyed the lamb. However, great food does not make up for poor service, especially at a restaurant where guests expect a high-quality dining experience. But what happened next was even more upsetting. While I was near the restroom, looking at myself in the mirror, I heard a woman's voice say, "It must be so sad to be that fat." I immediately turned around to see who had made such a disturbing comment. The only people I noticed nearby were two women working behind the bar and a female server walking away. I cannot confirm who made the comment or whether it was directed at me, but the timing and circumstances were deeply uncomfortable and upsetting. We chose not to confront anyone at that moment because we did not want to create a scene or ruin our friends' engagement celebration. However, this is not something that should be ignored. We are seriously considering asking management to review any available security footage from the hallway near the restroom entrance to help clarify what happened. If this comment came from a member of the staff, it would raise serious concerns about professionalism, respect, and the standards expected from JING's employees. As returning customers, we never expected an experience like this. We understand that service mistakes happen, and we appreciate that the manager initially apologized for the delays. However, the combination of repeated service failures and the disturbing comment we overheard made this evening particularly disappointing. We are genuinely unsure whether we would ever return. We believe management and ownership need to hear about this experience, address the service issues, and take our concerns seriously. At the very least, we deserve a sincere acknowledgment and an appropriate apology. JING has the potential to offer a wonderful dining experience, but exceptional food means very little when guests leave feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and disrespected.

It's a fairly small restaurant so we did have to wait a bit. Since it is Ramen, it is served fairly quickly. The Ramen broth was super flavorful, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. My husband got the traditional Ramen well I decided on the dipping Ramen. I think both were great options. The dipping Ramen had a great sesame and nutty flavor. She did not agree with me, so I left it at: we are not paying for the salmon, you can bring me the updated bill.
